Overturning the Tables

7/4/2025
In this episode, Pastor Walt Thinks Out about Jesus overturning the tables in the Temple. The Gentiles had set up their tables outside of the temple, and it was a money-making scheme. When Jesus saw what they were doing, He called it a cave of robbers. This was the only time that Jesus displayed anger. He was not happy what he saw, so He overturned the tables and drove out the money changers. In that moment, He took control of the outside of the Temple, and they could not make any more money. Now, He had control of the outside area of the temple. So, what about the Church today? Do tables need to be overturned in today's Church? Pastor Walt answers these questions. Devotion to God

1/31/2025
In this episode, Pastor Walt Thinks Out Loud and asks is Christianity a risk? Is it risky for Christians to be devoted to God? Devotion and risk go hand-in-hand. God wants our heart, wants relationship with us. We can’t just go through the motions, there has to be some discipline. We need to be disciplined about our devotion to God. Devotion is a commitment of our heart, commitment to our devotion to God. Visit Walt McFadden at Cityview Church

Knowledge is Not Wisdom

1/10/2025
Pastor Walt discusses why knowledge is not wisdom. He tells us that the knowledge we have can be effective with the wisdom of how to use it. The true identity and the true purpose of the Church is mixed up, and we need God's Holy Spirit to transform our minds so we can think with the mind of Christ. Wisdom knows that is right and what is wrong. The Bible has solutions for everything in our life … every problem in every area that we face. Visit Walt McFadden at Cityview Church

Quiet Power

9/20/2024
In this episode, Pastor Walt Thinks Out Loud and tells us that we need the Quiet Power that Jesus had. Is it all about us or all about Him? It starts with humility, being completely humble to the Holy Spirit’s power. Today, the Church has a lot of wealth, a lot of good communicators, a lot of resources, yet, we are failing in speaking the Word of God to the culture. The Quiet Power is the power to resist, the power to bring the Gospel to the masses. Although Jesus had all power, he submitted His power to His Father’s Will. He was humble to His Father’s Will. Let us pray for the Church, pray for our nation. We need the Quiet Power to bring the lost to Jesus. Visit Walt McFadden at Cityview Church

How Shall We Then Live

8/16/2024
In this episode, Pastor Walt Thinks Out Loud and tells us that we are not prepared for the long haul and this is not a short-term mission, it's a long-term mission. There is real spiritual warfare. We need some real change in the church and Satan doesn’t want the change. There are things Satan doesn’t want us to know, and things he doesn’t want us to do. We need to be prepared for anything and everything along the way. It’s not Christians against the world … it's God against Satan. Visit Walt McFadden at Cityview Church

We Preach Christ

7/12/2024
Pastor Walt Thinks Out Loud and tells us that preaching does matter … it really does. If we're not preaching the kind of life-giving Christ-honoring Gospel, you can see how Churches can slowly move away from the Biblical standards. Scripture warns us and tells us, do not harden our heart. Once we harden our heart, we separate ourselves from the life of Christ. That's what's happened in the Church today. What does it mean? It's exactly what Jesus told us … that unless you pick up your cross daily and follow Him, you're not worthy of being His disciple. Visit Walt McFadden at Cityview Church

On Discernment, Part 2

5/17/2024
Pastor Walt continues Thinks Out Loud about discernment. He says that sermons should be like billboards ... they get your attention, and make you want more. What about revival? Revival begins with repentance, without repentance there will be no revival. Repentance really means to change direction, change your mind, change your attitude … it is a course correction. Culture has creeped into the Church. Church hopping is at an all-time high. Doing this, you never deal with yourself and you don't want to address your own issues, and you blame your issues on the Church, so you Church hop trying to find the Church that will not ask you to face your own issues. The pastor needs to not be afraid to say the truth of the teachings of the Gospel, and parishioners need to learn how to discern the truth of the Gospel. Visit Walt McFadden at Cityview Church

On Discernment, Part 1

5/13/2024
Pastor Walt Thinks Out Loud about discernment. There is a distance between the pulpit and the pew today. Most Christians don’t have a Biblical worldview, and they just don’t get it … don’t get what the Kingdom of God really is. Pastor Walt helps us to understand what the role of the Church is in society, and to understand what the Kingdom of God really is. Pastor Walt helps us to learn how to discern the truth of the Gospel. Visit Walt McFadden at Cityview Church

Did Christmas Change Everything?

12/13/2023
Pastor Walt Thinks Out Loud and asks did Christmas change everything? Yes, it changed time itself, how we track time. The birth of Jesus Christ brought us the time before Christ and the time of the year of our Lord. The cultural upheaval that Christianity brought to the world in a good way … good for the whole of civilization. We celebrate the Christmas holiday, the tree, the gifts, the dinner … all are good, but they don't take on the meaning of the greatest story ever told. We need to get back to the idea that Christmas really did change everything. Christmas is the time we celebrate the birth of the most important person in history, and the most important person in our life. God has a plan, He's always had a plan ... to build His Kingdom. The Spirit of Despair

10/20/2023
Pastor Walt Thinks Out Loud and tells us if you have no hope you are in despair. God did not intend for us to have no hope, but many people don't have hope. You feel hopeless, nobody cares, nobody is interested in you, you've experienced all kinds of things, all kinds of people, but something is missing in your life. Those in despair have no hope about their marriage, no hope about their children, their health, their finances, their job, their profession, no hope about their future, about life itself, no hope about life after death, no hope about eternity. We all need hope. How do we find hope in the perplexity and turmoil of the world around us? God is with us in our despair. God has a purpose, even our suffering has a purpose ... a good purpose because all things work together for God's good for them that love God. There is Hope in the Land

7/28/2023
Pastor Walt Thinks Out Loud and asks what is contributing to the lack of hope in the land? Well, most people don’t know why the church exists or what is the purpose of the church. Pastor Walt tells us that the mission of the church is the Great Commission, and intergenerational discipleship is the goal of the church. Many people say there are a number of reasons they don’t go to church. Pastor Walt tells us of a few … they don't find a loving, serving community, they don’t see the active role of the Holy Spirit, they don’t see the seeking of the power of God, they don’t hear sound Biblical teachings, they don’t hear testimonies, they don’t see the passion for God. they don’t see a Biblical worldview. The church needs to offer all the things people say they don’t experience at church, and then, there will be hope in the land. Visit Walt McFadden at Cityview Church

Urban Ministry, Part 7

4/28/2023
Pastor Walt continues Thinking Our Loud on Urban Ministry. In this episode, he tells us that the multi-cultural church is the future. So, should every church pursue this? Churches need to represent their community, need to recognize that the urban community has expanded. Churches need to provide the community and families with answers to their questions about the Gospel. The Gospel is for every person, every creed, color, and race. Jesus tells us to preach the Gospel to every corner of the earth … this means to every person regardless of creed, color, or race. Visit Walt McFadden at Cityview Church

He explains that culture is not neutral, and there are many cultures around us now … both good and bad. We practice Kingdom culture, and we have to work towards His Kingdom culture. The church needs bold teachings and bold preaching. This takes courage, and a willing congregation. You have to question everything you believe … does it line up with Scripture? The Reality of Abortion

3/10/2023
In this Thinking Out Loud episode, Larry Kutzler talks with Liz, a woman who had an abortion 10 years ago. Liz gives her testimony about her abortion experience. Larry asks Liz if having an abortion was the right decision for her. Liz tells us her decision to have an abortion was not the right decision … absolutely not. Liz shares that she knew in her heart it was not the right decision, but she surrounded herself with people who supported her decision, who helped her feel her decision was right. Liz shares that the root of her decision was complete selfishness on her part and she didn’t want to deal with the ramifications of pregnancy. Now, 10 years later, she feels moved by God to share her powerful and moving story for her own heart healing and to help others with their own heart healing from knowing they did not make the right decision. Institutional Evil

2/10/2023
In this Thinking Out Loud episode, Pastor Walt talks about the evil in our institutions. Evil has strong power and influence over earthly governments. In America, we are moving from a Christian nation to a pagan nation. The church doesn’t talk about this, but it's Biblical that we are in a battle and a war. We war against principalities and powers. We face an enemy and that enemy is infiltrating our governments. The writing is on the wall for America in a culture that's trying to squeeze out the Gospel. Visit Walt McFadden at Cityview Church

Urban Ministry, Part 5

2/3/2023
Pastor Walt continues Thinking Out Loud on Urban Ministry. In this episode, Pastor Walt explains that cities have been with us since the beginning of time. In the early days, cities were where all the commerce and military strength resided. Ultimately, these cities collectively turned into states and then nations. Cities continue to grow and in the next decade 70% of the world’s population will leave in cities. How will that impact how we live? What will be the challenges we face? For the church, we already face some of these challenges, and the need to do ministry differently and more effectively will only increase. Urban Ministry, Part 4

1/13/2023
Pastor Walt continues Thinking Out Loud on Urban Ministry. In this episode, Pastor Walt delves deep into the Biblical accounts of cities … how they were developed, who developed them, and why they developed them. Cities started being developed in Genesis. Babel was a city that built a tower and Satan was the developer. Satan wanted to be on the throne of the city, to sit on the top of the tower. The real power of the culture is in the cities. Cities control the region with their pollical power, economic power, and power over the media. Listen in as Pastor Walt takes us to a deeper understanding of the issues the church doesn’t look at when it comes to Urban Ministry. Visit Walt McFadden at Cityview Church

Urban Ministry

11/11/2022
Pastor Walt explains that the core, the center of the city is the metropolitan area, the urban area. Urban areas have commerce, city government, and a diverse, multi-cultural population living in close proximity. In an urban area, things change rapidly with constant change, and the church is always adapting and adjusting. Does the church stay or go? An urban center ministry is vital to the church. How does the church deal with issues directly affecting the urban ministry, such as, multi-culturalism, space restrictions, poverty, homelessness, mental illness, drug addiction, density, policing, politics, and city regulations?
