A recent briefing hosted by the All Party Oireachtas Group on Dementia (APOGD) has exposed the hidden reality faced by More than 4,500 people in Ireland under the of 65 who have been diagnosed with young-onset dementia. The Alzheimer Society of Ireland is the leading dementia- specific service provider in Ireland, and one of the speakers at this briefing on young- onset dementia was ASI Advocacy Manager, Philippe Carr, who joined Adrianne to discuss this early or young onset dementia, the supports the ASI offer and what the changes they are looking for in this area from the government and other policy makers. Kathryn Mary Crowley is an artist, poet, author based in Kerry who has suffered with the pain, and other debilitating symptoms of fibromyalgia for a large chunk of her adult life. She is now, in her own words, about 80%-90% recovered from the pain, while not taking any pain medication, and she has written a book entitled ‘Cave to Compass’, in the hope that, by sharing her story and what has helped her, it might help other sufferers. Kathryn speaks here with Adrianne about her experiences; the ABLE method she uses daily to alleviate the pain, and her book/websites where she hopes people will find insights and information to help them navigate their own journey through their cave to find relief from the symptoms of fibromyalgia. Rathcroghan Visitor Centre - The Today Show 23/03/26

Rathcroghan is known as the ancient Capital of Connacht, where the festival of Samhain (Halloween) is said to originate. This majestic landscape is the oldest and largest unexcavated Royal Site in Europe. You can experience Rathcroghan’s rich archaeology, mythology and history through their interpretive rooms and expertly guided tours. One such guide at the centre is Mike McCarthy who joined Adrianne in the studio to talk about the wonderful treasures that Rathcroghan hold and the various facilities there i.e. school tours, individual self guided tours, meeting rooms, and a coffee shop. Eugene Murphy served as a Fianna Fáil TD for the Roscommon/Galway constituency from 2016 to 2020 and as an Irish Senator for the Agricultural Panel from June 2020 to January 2025. Eugene didn’t manage to get re-elected to the Dail in the last election, and Adrianne managed to catch up with him to discuss what he is doing now within the community, which involves musical events in the Percy French Hotel and helping to organise an Easter parade in Strokestown. They also discuss his hopes are for the future, which involves hopefully getting back into politics in some way.

Each year the Irish Cancer Society provides information, care & support to over 1.2 million people across Ireland who are affected by cancer. They are only able to this because of the public’s generosity in helping them raise funds through different methods, with their biggest fundraiser being Daffodil Day. Epilepsy Ireland Song TIME, SAFE, STAY aims to boost seizure first aid, and awareness of the condition, which affects an estimated 755 people in Roscommon. The song clearly identifies what to do when you see someone having a seizure, you should TIME it (only call an ambulance at 5 minutes), make sure they are SAFE and STAY with them. Epilepsy Ireland, Advocacy & Communications Manager, Paddy Mc Geoghegan speaks here with Adrianne about the myths around epilepsy and explains that people with the condition can live a normal seizure free life if they are given the correct medication. For years now, young people have suffered enormous distress caused by bullying through social media platforms and messaging Apps. Tragically, it has resulted in death by suicide in some cases. Adrianne speaks here with Sean Kelly MEP, who has said that while the EU cyberbullying strategy is welcome, it is unfortunately not quite enough. He supports all action to better protect and educate children and has, throughout his political career, advocated for more action to protect minors online. He has also consistently called upon the EU to criminalise online bullying and harassment citing the new Irish Coco's Law example, which he would like to adopted and enacted within the whole of the EU.
