Ella Dykstra of St. Joseph High School Soccer is our WSJM Sports Player of the Week. For the week, St. Joe went 3-0 with a 3-2 comeback win at Mattawan assisting on the game winning goal with 91 seconds left, a 3-1 win over Portage Northern where Ella had all three goals, including one on a PK, and an 8-0 over Niles where Ella had 2 goals and 2 assists. Ella is a senior as St. Joseph High School where she has a 3.45 GPA, She also participated in basketball this season. Miryssa Nelson of Coloma Softball is our WSJM Sports Player of the Week Coloma went 4-0 for the week with a sweep of Fennville 15-0, and 16-1, Then the Comets swept Parchment 13-3 and 13-7. Miryssa was the starting pitcher in both of the opening game wins. Against Fennville she allowed 1 hit and struck out 6 and against Parchment, she allowed 6 hits and had 2 earned runs while striking out 3. At the plate in the leadoff position, she's batted .750 for the week with 7 singles, 2 doubles, 4 walks, scored 8 times and had 5 rbi and stole two bases. She has a .621 batting average this season. Ellie Howard of Our Lady of the Lake girls soccer is our WSJM Sports Player of the Week. The Lakers went 3-1 over the week, falling to Kalamazoo Hackett, but defeating Covert, and then beating Niles and Dowagiac in a Saturday tournament. Ellie had 5 goals and an assist in the three wins, including a hat trick against Covert.
