Growing up my grandmother would take me to the library in the town where I grew up every weekend. One fateful day, I ventured out of the children's room and headed up the massive Victorian staircase to the upstairs. I was awestruck by the 3-level open space, surrounded with balconies filled with books. In one cornered I wandered up to the very top level and found a dark and dusty corner room. It was filled floor to ceiling with records, which I had never seen before. I checked out "Lights Out: Murder Castle", a vintage radio horror. So began a lifelong love of the kind of audio wizardry that could be cooked up with sound long, long before television. It required an active imagination, and it cultivated it in turn. Podcasting today has given new life to this vintage auditory art form, with groundbreaking shows such as "The NoSleep Podcast", "Limetown" and "The Black Tapes" being modern versions of classic radio drama. With this podcast, 3 of my great loves have come together into some kind of mutated concoction of sound. My hope is to see more Fallout fans getting creative, sharing their passion and building on this amazing universe. PART OF THE ROBOTS RADIO NETWORK https://www.robotsradio.net/ Hosted on Acast. SPIN-OFF SERIES IS LIVE - "Appalachia: A Fallout 76 Story Episodes 1 & 2"

7/18/2025
This is Kenneth Vigue and I am recording this just one day after a visit to Zenimax’s Austin, Texas office, the very place that Fallout 76 was born. I also finally met my dear friend and yours Wes Johnson and y’all...there were tears to be had. The office was amazing, as were the developers I met and after signing an NDA I strolled on through, looking into the future. It was an amazing visit, made all the more amazing by one fact: in the developer lobby were tv screen cycling through different scenes. On one monitor playing was our live show from Bethesda Game Days, our season 1 finale. After asking about it, I was told that they cycle community content on the tv for the devs – so they can see the ways in which the community plays and creates in their world. I think that’s as amazing as it humbling. This has been a journey I’ve been blessed by. But right now, today I want to tell you about two of my best friends starting their own journey. Appalachia: A Fallout 76 Story, an official spin-off series of our show is now live. The first two episodes I’m dropping in my feed hoping you’ll give it a listen and then find them on Spotify and Apple Podcast and give them a follow and a download. That really helps them get started. The story is exceptionally well written by Matthew Bartlett and Philip Lonidier with a wraparound that I’ve been writing...yes don’t worry, I’m still doing plenty of that. This story is set parallel to our own and it opens during the Battle for Appalachia before they take us back to Year 1, back to Reclamation Day as you discover a new band of post apocalyptic misfits. I hope you’ll give it a listen and keep listening because something very important happens, something they cause – a butterfly’s wings, a pebble dropped in a pond...something that happens right here has had unintended consequences all along for Chad and the gang. But more importantly, something Mr. Dark noticed in Xander Nash, the character you met this past Halloween has him very, very concerned. This podcast and ours will meet back up in the future in our season 4 with an ending you won’t see coming. Now, the casts of Appalachia A Fallout 76 Story and CHAD: A Fallout 76 Story invite you to cordially attend The End...and the Beginning or to put it another way, the Alpha and the Omega... S2E18: Vault-Tec Rises! Part 2 (with Pete Hines)

10/15/2024
In a single day, Appalachia's peacekeepers and independent forces have fallen. The Five-0 New Responders HQ is in ruins, the radio station is empty, mindlessly looping songs and the Overseer is missing. And yet, for Wastelanders and Raiders alike they are rolling into the region to lay down roots of their own, no matter how unintended the consequences of that action may be. The Enclave have arrived from Raven Rock and are squeezing the Judge to get things back under control, little knowing that in a single stroke he now has the power to reset the board. Sanctuary Acres awaits...and this is the story of how they all ended up there. NEWS: Production Update and QuakeCon 2024!

7/5/2024
Get tickets to QuakeCon, August 8th to the 10th, 2024: https://quakecon.bethesda.net/en/ This is Kenneth Vigue and I just want to say, I miss you….we all miss you. I wanted to give everyone a positive update on our life situation. As many of you longtime listeners know, our financial situation these past several years has not been great. Like many of you, we have been no strangers to struggle, living paycheck to paycheck and I’ve been working 7 days a week trying to keep us afloat, crushed by debt that began with long term mental healthcare for my husband Travis for a debilitating condition called C-PTSD and co-occurring conditions. So many of you have reached out, no strangers to either suffering through no fault of your own with mental health or who serve as caregivers for someone does. Everyone’s support over the years has meant the world to us and finally we have hope. Next month we finish a cross country move after finally selling our house, eliminating our debt completely and putting us in a much better living situation. We’ll be living in Texas, and after just getting back from there after signing on a new house for us I do have to say I have never eaten so well. Once this move is completed by July 16th, I’ll be free both mentally and financially to be far more consistent with writing and editing. More of my free time spent in panic mode drumming up work will be mine again, and I can’t wait to get back to telling stories in Fallout 76 and beyond. So don’t worry…I’m not stopping. I also want to share something exciting: I’ll be at QuakeCon in August, from the 8th to the 11th in Grapevine Texas and I would love to see any of you who may be going. It’s a truly spectacular event, panels, a truly epic LAN party in the BYOC. Though the convention may have started being all about Quake, today it is the largest yearly convention run by ZeniMax Media, and a celebration of all its studios and games. If you’re nearby or are planning to attend, it’s well worth a visit, and even if you can’t, Bethesda usually has a series of live streams from the event at Twitch.TV/Bethesda. Tickets start at just $16.50 for a day pass or if you want to bring your own computer and grab a spot in the LAN BYOC, you can grab those tickets for $75. Again, I really miss you…I miss this. I’m so excited and frankly relieved for the next chapter in our personal life, but also the brighter horizons of my creative one. Care for yourself, take time to get out and see the world this summer. Unplugging for a while is chicken soup for the soul, it broadens the mind, declutters our thinking and allows less of the shadows to gain purchase. I’ll be back in a few months, but I hope to see you in the Wasteland.
