The omission of England international Maddison, 28, comes as no surprise. The midfielder suffered a potentially season-ending knee injury in the club's pre-season friendly against Newcastle in August. Summer signing Takai is also in the treatment room with a plantar fascia injury, and his return date is currently unknown.
