"BIG GOALS FOR 2026" with Melisa Rollins
2/23/2026
In this episode, Stuart and Chip catch up with professional gravel and mountain bike racer Melissa “Mel” Rollins as she reflects on a transformative few years. Mel shares how she went from working as a chemist in a kidney stone lab to betting on herself, quitting her full-time job, and ultimately winning Leadville in 2024. She talks candidly about the mental side of that leap—dealing with pressure, redefining her goals after a dream result, and learning to see herself as more than “just” a Leadville specialist. Mel walks through her 2025 season goals (from winning a sprint finish to conquering singletrack), the crash that left her with two broken wrists, and how she came back stronger. The conversation then looks ahead to Cape Epic 2026, where Mel will team up with world champion Kate Courtney. She explains how the pairs format works, what it takes to race eight brutal days in South Africa, what she’s learning from training with Kate, and how she uses process goals, preparation, and adaptability as her “superpowers” on race day. Along the way, you’ll hear stories of long-distance love across time zones, tent camping in South Africa, mid‑valley community roots, and what it really feels like to chase big, scary dreams with your whole heart.

Mitch shares how riding with his dad shaped both his cycling and their relationship, how he balances big rides with being a loan officer, husband, and dad of three, why loyalty and positivity are his core values, and the power of team community to make suffering on the bike something you actually look forward to.

Ride, Reflect, Repeat with Nick Balli
9/5/2025
Nick is a rider who proves that passion, persistence, and maybe a touch of stubbornness can take you pretty far—whether that’s up a Wasatch climb at sunrise or across the finish line at Leadville.
He grew up in Salt Lake City as the oldest of three kids. He earned his Eagle Scout, served an LDS mission in Milan, Italy, earned his Economics degree from the U and MBA from Westminster. He even found time to volunteer at the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, supporting the U.S. Olympic Team with athlete services and translation. He’s been with Optum for 23 years, working his way up from sales to Director of Business Operations, and I think he’d tell you the reason he’s stayed so long is because of the people and relationships.
He’s been married to his wife, Jennilynn, for 17 years - and she keeps him fueled with plenty of baked goods. He is a proud dad of two (one through fertility treatments and one through adoption), and shares his home with Bella, a 5-year-old St. Bernard who probably weighs more than all of his bikes combined.
He’s been passionate about sports since he was young. He ran track and cross country, once ran a marathon, finishing in 4hrs and 4 min, and swore ‘never again,’ and eventually found his true love in cycling. Since then, he’s tackled countless endurance events—multiple century rides, six LOTOJAs, Steamboat Springs Gravel, and most recently, the Leadville 100 MTB. Nick is so grateful for the Mi Duole team. Riding with them has pushed him to grow as a cyclist while also creating meaningful friendships that extend beyond the bike.
Around the house, he’s known as the guy who fills the garage with bikes, never stops talking about cycling, and occasionally finishes a project or two in between rides.
Passionate, disciplined, and just stubborn enough to keep pushing through the hard stuff is what makes him such a strong rider and a great husband and father.

"Saying YES To Adventure" with Eric Alder
5/2/2025
Eric grew up in Boise, Idaho, where he enjoyed most outdoor activities, but skiing quickly established itself as the favorite. Mountain biking made a brief bid for his affection, but it wasn’t until he joined a road biking group in the Bay Area about a decade ago that things really escalated. Since then, he’s rotated through a series of hobbies involving expensive equipment and varying degrees of personal risk, including road biking, mountain biking, and, more recently, backcountry skiing.
A regular resident of the “pain cave,” Eric operates under the firm belief that happiness is merely the reward for those willing to suffer for it. When not testing the limits of what the human body should reasonably tolerate, he’s experimenting with clean eating trends and cold plunging in the freezing creek behind our house. His ideal vacation involves both biking and skiing on the same day, presumably to avoid any risk of relaxation.
Eric finds great joy in the Mi Duole riding group, where shared objectives and mild lunacy seamlessly co-exist.

Holiday Tour de Duole with Taylor & Stockton Cannon
12/26/2024
Some of you may remember our dear friend Taylor Cannon who left us high and dry for the "greener grass" of California several years ago. Well, he is back, but sadly no longer the fastest cyclist in his family. Currently sitting 42nd overall and 2 places ahead of his pops is none other then 14 year old phenom, Stockton Cannon.
A 14 year old getting up at 4:30 AM day after day to race bikes is the ultimate sigma rizz no cap. Stockton rides for his high school MTB team and set the fastest time trial of any freshman ever this year. With a goal of making it into the Lifetime Grand Prix in a couple years, the future is bright for Stockton.
Perhaps when we see him on the podium of Unbound he will say, "I'd like to thank the Holiday Tour de Duole for teaching me all that I know about riding bikes."
Keep it up, Stockton! You got this.
