Day 2 of Flyers training camp has come and gone, and today’s show will catch you up on everything happening with the team as they prepare for the 2024-25 season in Voorhees, NJ. Charlie, Kelly & Bill discuss Matvei Michkov on a line with Morgan Frost, as well as the differences between last year’s surprisingly strong season and this year where the “snuck up on them” factor is to be assuredly lower. Will the additions of Michkov, healthy Jamie Drysdale and a goaltending tandem of Sam Ersson and Ivan Fedotov be enough to keep the Flyers competitive, and maybe even make the postseason?

It’s day one of training camp, and you know what that means… John Tortorella’s rope skate! The “3x8 lap 300 shuttle” is a test of physical and mental endurance, and it was the first go-round for young prospects like Matvei Michkov & Jett Luchanko. Charlie & Bill discuss the first day of training camp, and how this season could compare to the surprise of 2023-24.

Charlie & Bill are back to reflect on yesterday’s Alexei Kolosov debate, and look towards what’s next for the goaltending position in Philadelphia.

The Flyers released the 2024 training camp roster today, and, unsurprisingly, Alexei Kolosov was not listed. Danny Briere addressed the Kolosov situation along with Ryan Johansen’s contract termination, and other training camp news today. Charlie & Bill discuss Briere’s comments, and continue to break down rookie camp, with main camp opening Thursday.

Matvei Michkov had his name announced as a goal scorer for the Philadelphia Flyers for the very first time on Friday night, in the opening game of the rookie series vs. Rangers prospects. Charlie & Bill break down Michkov’s exhibition debut, and the rest of the goings-on from Allentown, including a look at Oliver Bonk, Samu Tuomaala, Jett Luchanko, and more!

It’s here! The rookies in the Philadelphia Flyers organization reported to the team’s practice facility on Wednesday morning to officially begin the first stage of the 2024-25 hockey season. Matvei Michkov will be the main focus of rookie camp, main camp and most shows moving forward, but other youngsters will get their chance to make an impression on the Flyers brass, as well as fans, over the next few days and weeks. Charlie & Bill use today’s show to talk more Michkov, as well as some of the rookies who haven’t gotten as much spotlight as the Jett Luchankos and Oliver Bonks of the world.

It seems as if Alexei Kolosov will not be reporting to Flyers rookie camp when it opens later this week, according to reports from Anthony DiMarco. What does this mean for the goalie prospect’s future in Philadelphia? Along with the Kolosov question, there are other offseason storylines we still don’t have resolution to with main camp opening next week. Is Rasmus Ristolainen healthy? What’s up with the Ryan Johansen contract termination? Who are this team’s centers? Who will join Matvei Michkov as linemates? The sports world was stunned Friday morning when it was confirmed that Columbus Blue Jackets star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew, a former Reading Royals player and hockey coach, were killed in an accident in their home state of New Jersey. JP and Kelly react to the tragic news.

We’re kicking today’s show off by remembering one of the more heart wrenching moments of recent Flyers history, as the Pittsburgh Penguins announced a bobblehead series that includes Max Talbot and his famous “shush” following his fight against Dan Carcillo in the 2009 quarterfinals. We then get back into the Flyers mailbag, answering questions about Matvei Michkov, hockey jersey etiquette, prospects and more!

Sometimes it’s a disaster, and sometimes those players are good contributors. But damn, it would’ve been nice to have them in their primes. Jaromir Jagr, Paul Coffey, Jeremy Roenick, Derian Hatcher, and Peter Forsberg are just a few of the guys we’re remembering today.
