During an NFL preseason game between Minnesota and Jacksonville, there was a play that made Alex Kirry quite animated. The play saw QB Cody Kessler take a sack but it was not a sack but a roughing the passer. The Vikings defensive end came untouched and Kessler tucked the ball into prep for the hit. Instead of that being a sack the official called roughing the passer even though Kessler was not attempting to throw the ball.

The NFL preseason continues with a few former BYU players in action. Running back Jamaal Williams was one in action this week and he had an injury scare with an ankle injury. Luckily it was not a high ankle sprain and he will be fine. QB Taysom Hill got the chance to start for the New Orleans Saints but it did not go as planned as he had four turnovers, two interceptions and two fumbles.

A lot has gone on in BYU football since last weeks show. There have been two BYU scrimmages, no decision on a quarterback and Merrill Hoge chirping about Beau Hoge's move to running back. The QB race is officially down to Zach Wilson and Tanner Mangum and the two are said to be neck-and-neck, no turnovers, and similar stats. It seems that the quarterback selection will not be until much closer to the opener at Arizona.

Even though BYU went just 4-9 last year and they have a new offensive staff it does not stop people from having a glowing outlook on the upcoming season. There are plenty of reasons to question if BYU can get back to a bowl game but once the pads start popping and the players start talking everyone thinks their team is amazing and great. That is a hard trap to not fall into but you still want to have a positive outlook on your team.

The quarterback is the most important position and that is even bigger than normal at BYU as there is no starting quarterback in place between Tanner Mangum and Zach Wilson. There are a few other spots on the field which are not yet solidified. Robbie Bullough and Alex Kirry go over those spots. That includes the center position, wide receiver and also the running back position which is not year clear.
