9/15/2024
Send us a text Laura is a Survivor. In part two of this two-part episode, we continue where we left off at the end of Part One as Laura continues to share her heartbreaking story of growing up as a "gypsy" girl in Scotland at the hands of an abusive father, being prostituted to raise money for the family and left with the undeserved responsibility of caring for her siblings at a very young age. Experiencing the injustice of being robbed of her childhood because her father and other relatives abused her and "sent her out" to get money for the family, and ultimately having autonomy over her own body stripped from her. Tam's Triumph: From Victim to Empowered Survivor

8/4/2024
Send us a text Tam's Triumph: From Victim to Empowered Survivor ...that's just one way to describe her horrific journey. She bravely joins us to share her story of horrendous child abuse, and then suffering inside a domestic violence relationship at a young age. Growing up in an environment where you're living with a certain amount of stress in your system, your first relationship (at least for Tam) is typically something that meets the same level of stress. When Tam started working on herself about half-way through that first relationship, things got worse, and she has her kitten to thank for preventing an attempted "end to it all". The detail of her story includes things we should never expect to experience, but unfortunately are all too common. The good news is that despite it all, Tam is a Survivor, and expresses what that means and why she's chosen to become vocal about her journey and stand up for others. Vicky's Story

6/11/2023
Send us a text Vicky's Story is sadly not unique in PNG. Behind her radiant smile lay the hidden scars of Domestic Violence, inflicted at the hands of her own husband. With little to no help, Vicky struggled in her journey as a newly married young woman, suffering at the hands of her aggressive husband. Reporting to the police fell on deaf ears as a result of her "soldier" husband's connections within the police force. Vicky has bravely chosen to share her story to highlight not only how prevalent this is among the culture in PNG, but also to encourage other women in her community that there is hope. Remaining in hiding, Vicky continues to cling to her faith. She is an advocate who has discovered her own voice and hopes her courage to speak out, will encourage other women to remain strong. Her greatest hope is that her words will spark a transformative change and help foster a brighter future for every woman suffering in Papua New Guinea, so they can get to a place where they feel safe and respected in their own home. Sally-Anne's Journey

6/4/2023
Send us a text Sally-Anne's journey is hard to hear. No one, let alone a little girl, should have to experience the kind of trauma and abuse Sally-Anne did from her own stepfather. That's where it all started for Sally-Anne...she shares how her Mum actually caught him getting into bed with her, (an innocent child), only to let him stay in the house. Now in her fifties and a grandmother herself, she finds the courage to share her horrific story, hoping to encourage and empower women who have faced or are currently facing similar struggles. Despite enduring years of torment, and bullying at school, she has refused to let her past define her. With determination, she embarked on a healing path, seeking therapy, and support to get her story to the police in her thirties. Through these efforts, and publishing her own blog recalling many of her feelings, she has found some comfort and the bravery to confront her painful past. Today, as Sally-Anne opens up about her experiences, her main goal is to inspire other women who may be trapped in abusive situations. She wants them to know they are not alone and that there is hope for a better future. Sally-Anne stands as a symbol of strength, reminding us that healing and transformation are possible, no matter how dark the past may have been. Caroline's Story - Human Trafficking

1/29/2023
Send us a text If it could happen to Caroline, it could happen to anyone. Today, at the end of January, the month now dedicated to anti-human trafficking, it is so important to shine the spotlight brightly on what is happening to people from all walks of life, and from all around the world, every single day. We hear about it in the news. We see it in blockbuster movies, but we never think it could ever happen to us or to anyone we know or love. Caroline bravely shares her story in the hopes that she can save some, if not many from a fate that plunders the mind, pillage the body, and destroys the soul. We are talking about human trafficking. Caroline, a well-loved, extremely educated, and popular woman was tricked and then trafficked by someone who was supposed to love and protect her. Ripped away from her safety net and forced to commit despicable acts with strangers to line her pimp’s pockets and build his harem and empire. Listen to her story with an open mind and an open heart. Her message could just save your life or someone that you know or love. The main weapons we must use to fight against these perpetrators are our voices. We must use them to share their stories. We must be loud and start the discussions. Shine the spotlight on their darkness. Jen & Roni talk Christmas Past

12/18/2022
Send us a text Let’s talk Christmas past - Episode 2 We all have memories - our stories of Christmas past. Good, bad, or indifferent, those memories shape us; they mould us. They teach us lessons. They help us to decide what to do to change the trajectory of the Christmas yet to be. Some people are diehards, no matter what, they stick with the tried and tested methods and traditions. Others do anything and everything they can to imitate Houdini and make the last one disappear into nothingness; all the while vowing and declaring the next Christmas will be a better one. Growing up Jen and Roni were only two of the seven children who filled the family home. They hadn’t always lived together, but the few years that all the children did live under one roof were nothing short of magical. It was loud, filled to the brim with hustle and bustle and the noise never stopped… Well, it did stop. It stopped at precisely 5.30 pm every single day! As soon as that work truck pulled down the drive, the children scattered, collecting anything they might have had out for homework or play as they went. And that pattern continued into every festivity or activity, including Christmas day. Christmas morning would start like many others with the season’s greetings, the opening of gifts, and the special Christmas breakfast. The extended family would either visit or be visited, just like a completely normal family. On the surface, all looked well on the homestead, but by the time the sun had slipped from the sky, the stepfather/father had also slipped into his notorious, violent, drunken rage. Jen and Roni have chosen to share this story to not only share their experience but to also tell others who have found themselves in these situations that there is hope and that things can change. Every single day is a brand-new opportunity to strip down the old and rebuild your life, and your traditions and select a future you want to be a part of.
