5/13/2024
RadioStPete.com INSIDER news director Nanette Wiser interviewed Gina Wilkins, the Founder and CEO of Kind Mouse Productions Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2012 assisting local families in transition and their chronically hungry children. In 2012, Gina was a self-employed certified architectural draftsman. With the decline in the economy she saw many of her friends and peers fall into financial despair. Gina, wanting to help her proud friends, saw a need to assist these displaced families and to also feed the hungry children of her neighborhood. Since that time, Gina is proud to say the Kind Mouse has fed over millions of chronically hungry little tummies since it’s birth and has served many families experiencing job loss. Gina is extremely grateful to the community for their support for The Kind Mouse and the Kind Mouse volunteers. As she likes to say, “It takes a large litter to run THIS Mouse.” A brainchild of Gina’s is The Kind Mouse Outreach Programs – Mice In Training and Mice Interns. “KMKids Feeding Kids” where chidren from ages 5 through 18 learn leadership, how to operate a nonprofit and run two boards. These students are the next generation of the Kind Mouse. Gina is a 7 year member of Angels Against Abuse, a 9 year member of The Rainmakers Business Networking Group, a 2 year member of The St Pete Women’s Chamber of Commerce, and a 1 year member of Woman’s Service League and St. Anthony’s Auxiliary. She has recently joined Boley Angels and Queen of Hearts . She was a 4 year member of BNI and a 7 year member of Northeast Exchange Club where she served 2 years on the board. 7530: "Arts Alive" with Bill DeYoung: LAB Theatre Project 5-11-24 St. Pete Catalyst

5/11/2024
Situated on E. Henderson Avenue, where Tampa means Ybor City, LAB Theatre Project is a black box venue where only original works – plays that have not been previously produced – are mounted. LAB founder and executive producer Owen Roberston returns to the Arts Alive! podcast today, in the company of actress Mandy Keen. They both appear in the LAB production of Fly Away Home, a drama by Gwendolyn Rice and set in 1914. Robertson plays lauded architect Frank Lloyd Wright, who receives an urgent message during a visit to Chicago. His stately, rural Wisconsin home, he learns, is burning. It’s a torturous six-hour train ride, which Wright must spend in the company of Edwin Cheney, the ex-husband of Wright’s mistress; Cheney happens to be on the same train. Both men are desperate for news of the unfolding disaster, and neither has much respect for the other. Brooks is portrayed by Larry Corwin. This was a true event, although history did not record what the men talked about on the journey. Playwright Rice, an expert on the famously eccentric architect, dramatically fills in the blanks: They are joined by young reporter Mary Evelyn Brooks (Keen), who’s eager to finish up an interview she and Wright had begun in Chicago. All three of these people have secrets they aren’t ready to reveal. Fly Away Home is directed by Katie Calahan; Gwendolyn Rice will attend tonight’s performance (8 p.m.) and participate in an after-show talk-back with cast and audience. #stpetecatalyst #artsalive #billdeYoung #LABTheatreProject #tampabay #radio #radiostpete
