Koh Young upgrade a number of products. The KSMART software has been updated with increased accessibility and ease of use. The Zenith 2 3D AOI system is now fitted with a 25 megapixel camera enabling a much larger FOV. Koh Young's standard AOI system for through-hole inspection is fitted with a board-flipper that enables double-sided inspection.

Nordson Electronics Solutions have introduced two, new selective soldering platforms. The Synchro 3 and the Synchro 5 are capable of high-volume applications. The Synchro has up to 3 potting systems and the Synchro 5 can accommodate a maximum of 5 different pots.

Rehm launched the new Protecto dispensing platform that can be fitted with a variety of valves and nozzles for a wide range of applications. Complemented by Rehm's loaders/unloaders, curing ovens, reflow and vapour phase ovens, the company now has the ability to offer full line solutions.

Aegis FactoryLogix is now available on a SaaS platform enabling subscribers to get up and running and receive instant updates in real-time. Aegis have also partnered with Arch Systems to develop an Automated Real-Time Improvement Accelerator (ARIA) which takes the rich data collected by FactoryLogix and passes it upstream to the Arch Systems engine to process and pass back down to the Aegis MES with actionable insights.

Mycronic debuts the US launch of the A40 pick and place platform, armed with a unique new high-speed head, which handles a much wider range of components. The company also debuted their new stencil printer, which was launched at Productronica. The company have had a global impact on Flex's systems and their success has helped attract additional tier one customers such as Jabil, Plexus and Celestica. The React tool has been added to monitor and guide actions on the factory floor, contributing to improvements in attrition, quality, and performance. The partnership with Aegis and Factory Logix integrates data insights and actions back into the MES for operators' benefit.

ASYS Group won two major awards at Productronica. The Global Technology award for their new Sphere print head for the Serio 6000 and the Productronica award for their latest Pulse Pro software charting OEE of the factory. In addition, ASYS introduced a new smart buffer for management of their WIP materials.

Leo Peng describes the MAS-i2 selective soldering system, equipped with two fluxers. A spray fluxer and a drop jet fluxer. They can be setup to top-up areas, or contain different fluxes for high-mix applications. Preheating is infra-red and the soldering station contains two independent pots.

Anders Petersen describes a new microscope system from Tagarno. The system contains the latest SONY 4K technology and is hands-free. Powered by a Linux computer installed into the base of the unit, the microscope has virtually no latency. The lenses can be interchanged easily. Everything is attached magnetically without the need for any tools.

Arcadia demonstrated the Archimedes Smart Storage system. The reel sensors are built into a metal strip at the base of each reel bay, which the manufacturer claims is more reliable than switches or other methods. The Archimedes has a 3D scanner and a smart software system built into the rack to track reels as they are added or subtracted from the cart. Arcadia also showed a smart stencil storage system.

The Redox tool from Plasmatreat removes oxide in an inline process. The system does not use flux and is performed under nitrogen using a formic gas.

The new printer from Panasonic has a 10 stencil automatic changeover to cater for the high-mix market. It also has an automatic paste changeover and a paperless cleaning system. The printer also has a viscosity meter which allows the operator to alter the temperature for optimum results. On the mounter side Panasonic have introduced a new platform with chip placement accuracy of 15um. The weight of the head has been reduced to improve speed. The system has sensors monitoring trends and offering predicitive maintenance. The key new technology on dispaly is the self-feeding feeder, where operators feed in the tape and it automatically splices the tape onto the previous reel. This is available in a range of different tape widths.
