In this episode, Thomas Fox, the founder of Highwood Emissions Management, describes a brand new methane intensity calculation standard called Veritas. The proposed standard, called "Veritas: a GTI (Gas Technology Institute) Gas Measurement & Verification Initiative" was co-developed by natural gas producers, non-profits, and academics to replace the current formula-based calculations with actual calculations of methane intensity. The goal of Veritas is to have their methane intensity methodology adopted by various voluntary & regulatory groups including RSG standards. EPA, and other regulators. Weekly ECD Visual Inspections - Weekly visual [OGI] inspection of all air pollution control equipment including ECD (emission control device) aka combustors and VRUs (vapor recovery units) - Inspection or monitoring of combustion device to ensure that is operating, including that the pilot light is lit and the auto-igniter is properly functioning. - If smoke or emissions are observed for 1 minute in 15 minutes, then immediately shut-in. - Ensure vapors from VRU’s are being routed cleanly.
