High School seniors from Floresville, La Vernia, and Poth competed April 12 in the 2026 San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball Game, presented by Valero. Floresville’s Logan Pawlik and Samuel Rodriguez represented Team White. La Vernia’s Ethan Dye joined Poth’s Koy Moczygemba on Team Blue. The final score was Team White 113, Team Blue 85. Floresville track and field athletes excel at District, prepare for Area meet in Cuero

Floresville High School track and field athletes had an impressive showing at the District meet in Somerset April 9. Varsity girls took the District Championship. Varsity boys earned Co-District Championship (Back-to-Back Titles). The junior varsity girls claimed the District Championship for the third year in a row. In addition, 25 athletes qualified for the Area meet set for Thursday, April 16, in Cuero, where they will compete for a chance to advance to Regionals. The Poth Pirates blanked the Stockdale Brahmas Friday night, April 10, 10-0 behind the pitching of junior Braden Arruda and senior Major Luna. After an intentional walk to Luna, sophomore Collin Korb sent a shot to right center for a triple, scoring 3 runs. Later on, Luna and junior Keegan Clark both went deep for the Pirates. Before taking the field against Luling on Senior Night, the Nixon-Smiley Lady Mustangs celebrated three important members of their program April 10, honoring Tyra Ortiz, Sadie Walden, and Sandra Valerio for their dedication and commitment to Lady Mustang softball. Although Nixon-Smiley fell to Luling 9-6, the night still served as a meaningful opportunity to recognize the impact the three seniors have had on the program. Twenty-three East Central High School students on their way to a one-act play competition April 10 received a jolt when the bus they were riding in was struck from behind by a black Ford Explorer involved in a high-speed chase.
