Atomic Business Coaching | The Grass is Greener Because It’s Full of Sh*t” — The Reality of Growth, Comparison, and Staying the Course

9/21/2025
In this candid episode, Tom and Adam unpack the emotional rollercoaster of entrepreneurship and why so many business owners feel like they're always starting over. From podcast inspiration to coaching revelations, they discuss the importance of patience, trusting your intuition, and resisting the temptation to constantly compare your journey to others'. They also dive deep into the harsh truth: the grass often looks greener because it's been heavily fertilized — sometimes with a whole lot of crap. If you’ve ever struggled with staying the course, felt the pressure to pivot, or believed you should be further along, this episode will remind you why the long game matters, how to identify the right kind of fertilizer for your growth, and why building a successful business really does take a decade. 💡 Key Takeaways: • The Podcast Shift: Listening to a wider variety of podcasts revealed a gap between philosophy and tactical guidance, sparking reflection on what truly adds value — and how that applies to your own business and content creation. • The Grass is Greener… Because It’s Fertilized: Growth takes fertilizer — aka “the shit” you have to go through. There’s no shortcut to rich, sustainable success. Embrace the grind instead of trying to avoid it. • Coaching vs. Courses: Clients in coaching programs think long-term. Course-takers often seek immediacy. Each mindset needs different strategies, but both must go through the hard stuff. • Comparison Kills Progress: When you compare your journey to someone else’s highlight reel, you ignore the foundation they built — framing, wiring, and all. Focus on your build, not their finished product. • Trust Your Intuition: When comparison takes over, your intuition gets drowned out by ego and insecurity. Your gut knows what’s right — you don’t need permission to follow it. • Business Takes a Decade: It’s a journey of layers: build, exploit, delegate, and scale. Most people quit too early and restart, losing time instead of gaining ground. • Stop Chasing 10x Before You’ve Hit 2x: Growth isn’t magic; it’s methodical. You can’t skip the process. Master what you’re already good at before leaping to what’s next. • Embrace the Bipolar Nature of Business: There will be highs and lows. Don’t let either extreme control your decisions. Learn to ride the waves without crashing. • Know Who You Are and Why You’re Doing This: Use tools like the Simple Focus System to realign your values, identity, and business goals. Success starts with clarity. 🔗 Resources & Links: • Explore programs, courses, and coaching at atomicbusinesscoaching.com/course • Learn more about the Simple Focus System to align who you are with the business you want to build. 👋 Final Thoughts: If you’re stuck, overwhelmed, or caught in another comparison trap — don’t pivot blindly. Let us help you identify if the “shit” you’re in is worth growing through. You can build something amazing — just make sure it’s yours.

Atomic Business Coaching | Stop Outgrowing Your Growth: Learning, Stabilizing, and Scaling Wisely

8/10/2025
In this episode, Tom and Adam explore one of the biggest mind traps for entrepreneurs and business owners: the pressure to grow constantly. They discuss the value of repetition in learning, the importance of sustainable progress, and why stabilizing your success may be your most strategic move this year. From learning fatigue to cash flow struggles, they cover the mindset shifts and tactical strategies needed to grow smart, not just big. ________________________________________ 🔥 Key Takeaways: • Repetition is not the enemy. Saying the same message repeatedly, especially when it's valuable, is a sign you're doing it right. • Learning never ends. As adults, learning feels harder because we carry the ego of “already knowing.” But real growth comes from embracing error correction and constant improvement. • Stabilization is the new growth. Instead of trying to outgrow your business, focus on sustaining and fully realizing your current level of success. • Cash flow gaps are normal. But many business owners misuse debt and revolving credit. A line of credit should be gap coverage, not growth fuel. • Predatory lending warning signs: high interest rates, daily payments, and fees that compound quickly. If the loan terms feel risky or desperate, they probably are. • Growth vs. Scale: Growth often requires more resources. Scaling uses your current resources more effectively to increase revenue. ________________________________________ 👀 Visual Metaphor of the Day: Think of your business like sound levels on a mixer board. Cranking them up too fast leads to distortion and noise. The goal is smooth, stable, balanced sound, just like business growth. ________________________________________ 💬 Memorable Quotes: “If you start sounding like a broken record, you’re probably doing something right.” “Learning is just error correction—it’s constant improvement.” “You don’t need to 10x every month. You need to stabilize before you scale.” “Don’t call it debt—call it gap coverage.” ________________________________________ 👥 Who This Episode Is For: • Entrepreneurs scaling from early traction to stable revenue • Business owners battling growth addiction and burnout • Founders navigating cash flow and financial management • Coaches and consultants educating others on sustainable business practices ________________________________________ 📢 Call to Action: Love what you're hearing? Film Fights With Friends - Season 2 / Episode 2 | Tim Gallin

8/10/2025
Tim Gallin began his quest to perform in feature films and TV after attending CW Post College on Long Island, NY. His first professional job came by way of the Gong Show in August of 1978. He was a contestant on an Elvis Presley special because Chuck Barris was a fan of The King. After seeing his old high school football coach, Vic Magnotta performing in Taxi Driver, Tim picked up the phone and gave him a call. Magnotta was a stuntman, retired special forces soldier, and Vietnam veteran who became close friends with Martin Scorsese while attending NYU. That fateful phone call created for Tim an opportunity to play football in the film The Wanderers. Through Magnotta’s continued offers to perform stunts, Tim met many of the people he would collaborate with over the next 45+ years. When asked about a favorite fight scene he performed in, the Marked for Death fight from the classic film F/X (1986) was Tim’s immediate response – and is the starting point of this interview that covers some of Tim’s epic experiences in the industry including stunt doubling Tom hanks on Splash and Steve Martin on Only Murders in the Building. David & Stu... Unhinged! - Episode 41

8/10/2025
41: Jackie Robinson Day, Book Banning, Harvard's Last Stand & a Harbinger of Hope. Welcome to episode forty-one of David & Stu… Unhinged! As always, we'd like to thank Clara Wang for creating the fantastic artwork for this podcast. In this episode, David and Stu cover the following: 1) April 15 was Jackie Robinson Day, and we discussed this legendary baseball player's contribution to the game and society. He is a testament to character, but that didn't stop our drunkard Defense secretary from purging Robinson's military service record from the Pentagon's website. 2) The issues facing higher education are daunting, including Hegseth's attack on the U.S. Naval Academy, which resulted in 381 books being removed from the library's shelves. However, ironically, students still have access to Mein Kampf. Meanwhile, Harvard, a rather unsympathetic institution, has refused Trump's efforts to blackmail them for concessions. As much as we loath Havard's hypocritical liberal elitism, we applaud them for having the backbone to stand up to this most incompetent and ineffective administration; 3) The deportation cases that Trump has pursued and his open defiance of court rulings on his baseless legal claims. And despite all the talk, the deportation levels under Trump are about the same as under Biden. Trump's assault on our constitutional norms is sad to watch and has pushed David to claim that he will vote for AOC as President over JD Piglet Vance in 2028. 4) In liberal San Francisco, we see a harbinger of hope with its new Mayor, Daniel Lurie, who has made great strides at saving this important city from the declines brought about by permissive progressive policies that have been devastating to urban America. We welcome comments on our podcasts as well, which can be left on our website or any other platform you may be tuning in on. David & Stu... Unhinged! - Episode 40

8/3/2025
40: Tariff Terrorism, Pardons for Fraudsters, Handy Andy's Reincarnation, & More Fare Beating Outrages. Welcome to episode forty of David & Stu… Unhinged! As always, we'd like to thank Clara Wang for creating the fantastic artwork for this podcast. In this episode, David and Stu cover the following: 1) Trump's reckless imposition of tariffs on every country, including an uninhabited Island, and the architect behind this, Peter Navarro, who has a PhD in Economics from Harvard yet is as dumb as a pile of bricks, to quote Trump's favorite parasite, Elon Musk. 2) More outrageous grants of pardons have been issued to disgusting fraudsters Trevor Milton, Jason Galanis & Devin Archer. It seems all someone has to do is donate money to Trump's campaigns or just kiss his ass, and he will give them a get-out-of-jail-free card even if they murdered his mother. 3) The NYC Mayor's race is shaping up with Handy Andy Cuomo making a huge comeback, while the failed Eric Adams plans to run as an independent since he has become a pariah in the Democrat Party after making a deal with Trump in exchange for having his corruption charges being dropped. Funny enough, even though Cuomo is a nursing home serial killer, he seems best suited to be Mayor when compared to the other vermin that are running. 4) The fare-beating crisis on NYC transit continues unabated, which has coaxed the MTA to conduct a study to understand the psychology behind this. Instead of wasting money on a study, we suggest that these deadbeats should be fined and prosecuted, which hasn't been done since the progressives stopped enforcing the laws against fare beaters. Film Fight With Friends - Episode 26 | Bonus Episode.

7/27/2025
Bonus Episode: Secrecy and Safety Can’t Coexist In this bonus episode, we look at set safety and whether the historically ‘cowboy’ culture of film sets truly permits a culture of safety. All through our first season, guests from various television and film departments repeatedly raised concerns about set safety. We dove into issues ranging from stunts, rigging, child performers, general safety, and firearms. One common thread that appeared again and again was the fact that one must always be willing to voice concerns over safety and in so doing, potentially lose a job. This compilation from season one presents some important conversations on the topic. Drawing from their personal experiences—ranging from corporate boardrooms to coaching clients through their Simple CEO system—the hosts break down how regular board meetings can become a transformative practice that elevates clarity, direction, and leadership. ________________________________________ 📌 Key Takeaways: ✅ 1. Board Meetings Aren’t Just for Big Business Every business owner should conduct regular board meetings—monthly, quarterly, or annually—to assess progress, identify challenges, and align on future goals. ✅ 2. A Holistic Approach: Business + Owner Unlike traditional board meetings, Atomic Business Coaching incorporates the well-being and mindset of the business owner, not just business performance. This dual focus provides clarity on how personal habits impact business results. ✅ 3. Eliminate Emotion from Decision-Making Business owners often make haphazard decisions based on fear, urgency, or lack of clarity. These meetings provide the space to make data-driven, strategic decisions that support long-term growth. ✅ 4. Know Your Numbers Understanding your financials—profit & loss statements, cash flow, marketing metrics—is critical. Numbers remove emotion and offer objective insight into what’s working and what needs to change. ✅ 5. Tasks vs. Habits Each board meeting ends with actionable takeaways: • Tasks to execute immediately • Habits to build long-term sustainability ✅ 6. Ask Better Questions Before committing to vendors, services, or hires, understand exactly what you’re receiving. Many poor business decisions stem from unclear expectations and assumptions. ✅ 7. Use Slow Seasons Strategically Times of reduced business activity are ideal for reflection. Holding a board meeting during these periods allows owners to pivot, reset, and optimize for the future. ✅ 8. Take Ownership of Your Decisions Failure to assess leads to decisions being made for you—causing stress, burnout, and reactive management. Make time to step away from the day-to-day and regain control. ________________________________________ 💡 Final Thought: Successful business ownership requires regular reflection, intentional decision-making, and strategic planning. Board meetings provide the structure to do just that. Whether you're leading a team or working solo, taking the time to evaluate where you've been, where you are, and where you’re going is critical to sustained success. ________________________________________ 🔗 Resources & Contact: • Visit AtomicBusinessCoaching.com to learn how we help business owners make better decisions and build scalable, sustainable companies. • Connect with us on LinkedIn: Adam Thomas Tom Marino • Follow us on all major platforms @AtomicBusinessCoaching ________________________________________ 🎧 If you found this episode valuable, share it with a fellow business owner who’s ready to move from reactive to strategic leadership.

David & Stu... Unhinged! - Episode 39

7/27/2025
39: "A Tragic Car Accident, Elon Gets DOGEd, Casino Royale, & A Call for National Service Welcome to episode thirty-nine of David & Stu… Unhinged! As always, we'd like to thank Clara Wang for creating the fantastic artwork for this podcast. In this episode, David and Stu cover the following: 1) A reckless driver with 786 traffic violations tragically killed a mother and her two daughters in Brooklyn in a car accident. The driver's mental health issues and driving record were never addressed by NYC officials, which once again has resulted in death. NYC zealously prosecutes law-abiding citizens who violate the newly enacted composting rules while letting dangerous people loose on the streets, which is further testament to their incompetence. 2) Elon Musk has become a highly unpopular and polarizing figure, and despite spending $21 million in a Wisconsin Supreme Court race, the far-left candidate won substantially in a state Trump originally won. Republicans in Congress and internal White House staff have grown to loathe him and the damage he is doing to the federal government. Finally, Trump has announced he will soon be going back to his businesses, which are heavily financed by the Chinese Communist Party. We don't wish him well. 3) Casino developers in NYC have to go through a legal leviathan to obtain licenses, so they propose generous community service initiatives to impress the New York bureaucrats. Regardless, allowing legalized gambling in our communities is a further reflection of New York's decline under the failed Democrat leadership. 4) In light of the crisis America's youth is facing and the spiritual decline that pervades throughout our nation, we discuss the merits of a national service program as a means to re-engage our youth. Unfortunately, we don't expect the current president to take on this initiative, as he is too busy allowing a Nazi-saluting billionaire to run rampant in our government. Atomic Business Coaching | Overcoming the Controller Saboteur & Mastering Problem-Solving as a Business Owner

6/22/2025
Overcoming the Controller Saboteur & Mastering Problem-Solving as a Business Owner In this episode, we dive deep into the impact of the Controller saboteur on business owners and their teams. We discuss how a need for control can stifle growth, prevent effective delegation, and create unnecessary stress. We also explore how shifting from a controlling mindset to a curious and open approach can improve leadership and team dynamics. Additionally, we break down the importance of problem-solving in business and how the most successful entrepreneurs embrace challenges rather than avoid them. Key Takeaways: • Recognizing Your Saboteurs: Many business owners struggle with the Controller saboteur, which can hinder their ability to delegate, accept feedback, and foster collaboration. • The Antidote to the Controller Saboteur: Remaining curious and open to learning helps counteract the need for control and allows for better decision-making and team involvement. • The Impact on Others: Controlling tendencies don’t just affect the individual but also impact employees, stifling their ability to contribute and collaborate effectively. • Breaking Through Comfort Zones: Business growth requires continuous evolution, stepping out of familiar roles, and embracing new challenges. • The Transition to Leadership: When business owners finally have an efficient team, they often struggle with their new role, sometimes self-sabotaging by creating unnecessary problems. • Managing Money Issues: Entrepreneurs often experience financial stress when they stop doing what initially made them successful. Staying focused on revenue-generating activities is crucial. • The Importance of Problem-Solving: Business is about solving problems. The best entrepreneurs develop systems to assess and address problems efficiently rather than getting overwhelmed. • Handling Business Transitions: Transitioning from one level of success to the next requires maintaining core business activities while also adapting and growing into new responsibilities. • Planning for Success: Business owners should anticipate potential challenges and create strategies to handle obstacles as they arise, rather than reacting in crisis mode. Actionable Steps: 1. Assess Your Saboteurs: Identify if you have controlling tendencies and how they may be impacting your business. 2. Practice Curiosity: Challenge yourself to seek feedback and remain open to learning from others. 3. Empower Your Team: Allow employees to take ownership of their roles so you can focus on strategic growth. 4. Stay Financially Disciplined: Don’t create unnecessary expenses just because your business is growing—stay focused on generating revenue. 5. Embrace the Problem-Solving Mindset: Shift your mindset from “problems are overwhelming” to “problems are opportunities.” 6. Plan for Transitions: Make intentional plans for growth rather than assuming success will continue without change. David & Stu... Unhinged! - Episode 38

6/22/2025
38: Hapless Democrats, Greenland Buffoonery & Trump's Orwellian Quagmire Welcome to episode thirty-eight of David & Stu… Unhinged! As always, we'd like to thank Clara Wang for creating the fantastic artwork for this podcast. In this episode, David and Stu cover the following: 1) The Democrats' historically low approval ratings and the disastrous leadership of Senator "Reptile" Schumer and the embarrassing spectacle of him folding like a house of cards over the GOP's budget and continuing resolution. We also discuss Gavin "Snake" Newson and the pathetic crew of 2028 presidential candidates, which includes Tampon Tim Walz and hapless Mayor Pete. 2) The assault on Greenland by Trump and his cronies, including a visit by Vice President J.D. "Piglet" Vance, and the complete absurdity of this land grab that is counterproductive to our national interests. 3) How Trump and his team's use of fear tactics and lies to achieve insignificant results is consistent with the portrait drawn of a totalitarian state in George Orwell's 1984. Examples include assaults on judges, law firms, and artistic institutions, which have occurred through the use of a legally questionable executive order.
