The Phoenix Suns opened their six-game road trip on the right note, outlasting the Milwaukee Bucks for a 129-114 win Tuesday. It was a sum of multiple players’ efforts, as Devin Booker led the way with 27 points, Jalen Green added 25 points, and Royce O’Neale scored all 21 of his points in the second half. The Phoenix Suns squandered a golden opportunity as they were outworked all night in a 105-103 loss to the shorthanded Chicago Bulls. Chicago led wire to wire to get its second win since Feb. 1, while Phoenix saw its two-game win streak come to a close. The Suns (35-27) were led by 27 points from Devin Booker while Grayson Allen scored 21 points off the bench. Both struggled efficiency-wise and as a team, Phoenix shot 39.1% from the field and 13 of 46 (28.3%) from the field. The Phoenix Suns will look to put February’s struggles behind them as March — and the season’s final stretch — begins. The Phoenix Suns took care of business Tuesday, completiing the season sweep of the Sacramento Kings with a 114-103 win. It was a positive for the return of Devin Booker, who scored 17 points in his first game back from a hip injury, while Jalen Green scored a team-high 20 points to go along with seven rebounds. Rounding out the list of top performers are Collin Gillespie, who had 17 points, nine assists and six rebounds while Oso Ighodaro recorded a 14-point, 14-rebound double-double in 26 minutes off the bench. With the win, the Suns move to 35-26 on the season and keep the pace in the West playoff race, though they still have ground to make up to enter the top six. Royce O’Neale’s last-second 3-pointer proved to be the difference as the Phoenix Suns earned a massive 113-110 win over the Los Angeles Lakers to make things interesting in the Western Conference standings. It was a game of runs, as Phoenix trailed by as many as 13 and led by as many as 12 points in the thriller. Phoenix saw contributions from across the board as O’Neale (13 points) was one of four players to finish in double figures, a group led by Grayson Allen’s 28 points, while Collin Gillespie finished with 21 and Ryan Dunn added 10 points. The Suns’ second unit re-energized the team in the third frame and Luka Doncic’s 41 points, eight rebounds and eight assists weren’t enough for the Lakers to get a win. The Suns (34-26) are now just one game back of the Lakers (34-24) in the standings and own the season series as they’ve won three of the first four matchups. The Phoenix Suns are struggling as of late, and while there are a number of factors contributing to the struggles, the issues with the team’s center rotation are impossible to ignore. Mark Williams has had trouble getting involved offensively and his defensive impact has not been felt, Oso Ighodaro has had the typical peaks and valleys of a young player, and Khaman Maluach has yet to fully crack the rotation to play meaningful minutes. While Phoenix’s shortcomings on the perimeter can be attributed to the lack of depth due to injuries, there is much more to dive into with respect to why the healthy rotation of centers has not been impactful. The Phoenix Suns’ offensive woes continued Thursday as they shot 36.7% from the field in a 97-81 loss tot he Boston Celtics. Phoenix was again without Devin Booker, Dillon Brooks, Jordan Goodwin and Haywood Highsmith, but Boston did not have Jaylen Brown nor Jayson Tatum in the win. With the loss, the Suns fall to 33-26 on the season and have dropped seven of their last 10 games.
