v.4 Updated: 2021-12-23 In this episode we discuss the impact of Covid-19 vaccine mandates on our society, with a specific focus on the way the mandates have been implemented in the context of higher education. We describe how students, staff and faculty in our universities have been callously kicked to the curb simply because they have chosen to avoid taking the Covid-19 biologicals. Although there are provisions for exemptions from these mandates, there are indications that the large majority of exemption requests are being denied. The coercive pressure to vaccinate is intense and unrelenting. The exclusion of the vaccine-free from the academy amounts to a systematic ideological purge wherein free thinkers and refuseniks are expelled or forced into exile, leaving only the fearful and the compliant in our institutions of higher learning. Critically, we detail how the fundamental assumption underlying the vaccine mandates--namely that the Covid-19 biologicals prevent infection and spread of SARS-CoV-2--is inconsistent with the findings of scientific studies published in top peer-reviewed medical journals. Episode Summary This episode was recorded at the tail end of the third major COVID lockdown in Ontario, Canada, and while other parts of Canada were also still under lockdown. The episode begins with a discussion of the covid-related oppression of GraceLife church by the health authorities in Alberta, Canada. We then continue with an analysis of how social scientists view conspiracy theories. We note that in general, social and political scientists view conspiracy theories as problematic and they characterize those who hold such theories as having a whole host of negative personality characteristics and dubious political motives. To solve the putative problems associated with conspiracy theories, some social scientists advocate banning conspiracy theories, censoring conspiracy theorists, infiltrating and disrupting communities that hold conspiracy theories, re-educating the population to never question their epistemic authorities, and convincing people to defer to sanctioned experts. ** Time codes to be updated shortly The term “conspiracy theory” is often used to discredit accusations of elite political criminality and to silence opposition to the machinations of the powers that be. In this episode we discuss the definition of the term “conspiracy theory” and how it was weaponized by the CIA to deflect criticisms of the of the dubious conclusions drawn by the Warren Commission regarding the assassination of former US President Kennedy. Introduced also in this episode is the concept of the ‘epistemic establishment’, which includes knowledge giving institutions and authorities that are trusted by the general public to provide them with truthful information about the world. It is often assumed that since we live in a so-called ‘open society’, corruption of epistemic authorities is unlikely. However, as we illustrate in considerable detail, there are good reasons to distrust our current secular epistemic authorities, and to treat their pronouncements with a healthy degree of skepticism. We provide concrete suggestions about how to find truth in a society characterized by a failing, compromised and corrupt epistemic establishment.
