In this sermon we address the topic of spiritual authority and specifically consider: Do believer’s today have the same spiritual authority over the devil and demons, as the apostles and the Early Church? And a brief on how do we exercise this authority? We consider the basis for our authority: The name of Jesus, The power of the Holy Spirit, The triumph of the Cross and Our position of authority seated with Christ. None of these are tied to the role of being an apostle. All of these are available for all believers. As believers we sometimes could become fearful, worried or anxious about the future (our own future). Fear, worry and anxiety about the future can have a debilitating affect in our day-to-day lives. Fear about the future, holds us captives, cripples us and can trouble us in many ways. We consider God's Word and His assurance for our future. To be fruitful is to be successful, to thrive, to do well, to flourish. We address the question, is it right to desire and to be motivated to be fruitful and successful? In this sermon we discuss a Biblical approach to developing a positive self-image and building our self-esteem. Self-image is how you see yourself, while self-esteem is how you feel about yourself. A positive self-image is important because it directly impacts how you feel about yourself, influences your interactions with others, your ability to pursue and achieve goals, and overall mental and emotional well-being. A positive self-image affects your confidence, resilience, how you build relationships and how you face life's challenges. (1) Be established in your identity in Christ. Repaint your portrait based on your identity in Christ. The Word of God is our spiritual mirror. (2) Constantly acknowledge your identity in Christ. Agree with God and say what God says about who you are in Christ. (3) Focus on your completeness that comes from Christ. Recognize God's empowering through your life in Christ. All that is in Jesus has been made available to us through our life in Christ. (4) Counter and discard negative thoughts. Consciously counter and discard negative thoughts by declaring who you are in Christ. (5) Fellowship with like-minded believers. Spend time with believers who know their identity in Christ and who can uplift and encourage you. The Lord Jesus said that the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force (Matthew 11:12). He also taught that we must receive the kingdom of God as a little child to enter in. We learn that to experience the kingdom we need to force our way into it, with passion, striving, fervor, energy, and then seize, claim and appropriate what it has for ourselves. We also discuss why this is required: (1) Our own flesh hinders us. (2) There is an enemy who hinders us. (3) God is looking for passionate people. This is where the kingdom of heaven responds to our pull in the spirit. This is the violence that the kingdom of heaven feels and experiences – our spiritual passion, fervor, tenacity, our laying a hold of what God has made available and pulling it to ourselves, in the spirit. God is pleased to give us the kingdom – that is everything He administers through His rule and reign. We must be warrior-like and childlike to receive and enter His Kingdom. We are childlike in our heart of faith. A heart that simply trusts, that just believes, that does not question. We have the heart of a warrior and are warrior-like in our pursuit, bold, tenacious and enduring. We also discuss how to be violent in the spirit: (1) Faith that is bold and childlike. (2) Faith that is tenacious and will not let go. (3) Faith that is persistent and enduring. What are the things that you need to be violent about and that you need to press in and appropriate forcefully? Be determined to do it. Of all the principles we learn in the Scriptures, the one that stands out the most is the concept of “Waiting”The Bible mentions waiting 116 times.God’s will, include His timing. He has an awesome plan mapped out for each of us, but He only reveals it one step at a time. When we follow His plan, He is glorified, and we are fulfilled. Delays can feel agonizing, but God has a bird’s-eye view and His timing is perfect.Thankfully, patience can be learned. Even when it's hard to see, God is always working behind the scenes, aligning everything for our good. Waiting on the Lord means believing that His timing is perfect and that He will fulfill His promises in ways beyond our imagination. In this sermon with a brief introduction to angels (Cherubim and Seraphim), we focus on the fact that God has assigned some of His angels to minister (serve alongside, assist, aid, help) us His sons and daughters, heirs of salvation. We consider some of the ways that angels assist us as God’s people. #1, Angels Protect Us And Deliver Us #2, Angels Assist Us, Open Doors For Us #3, Angels Can Deliver Material Things #4, Angels Can Open Prison Doors – Natural and Spiritual #5, Angels Can Remove Chains – Natural and Spiritual #6, Angels Engage in Spiritual Conflict #7, Angels Assist in Evangelism We also consider some simple ways we can receive angelic assistance for ourselves, or release angelic assistance for others whom we care about, e.g. family members, other believers, etc. #1, Pray and Ask God #2, Declare God's Word We also clearly indicate that our focus has to be on the Lord Jesus, and we do not go pursuing after interacting with angelic beings. We also clarify that angels will not do what we are supposed to do. Angels will not make decisions for us. Through this sermon we are encouraged to expect and ask for angelic assistance in the everyday situations of life, because God Himself has arranged for His angels to minister to us.
