Our month of May discussions on the Phantom Menace concludes with guests Dave and Elora from What Does Star Wars Mean 2U. We tackle the generational aspect of the prequel as we saw it in 1999. For younger fans these films were the first glimpse into a larger world on the big screen, for older fans who brought their kids to see a Star Wars film for the first time, it was a special moment as we introduced this franchise to the next gen of fandom. During the dark times, on the heels of the Star Wars Special Edition, circa early 90's Dark Horse comics got the rights to create new #StarWars stories. Dark Empire was set some time after the events of the Return of the Jedi giving fans a taste of a sequel story before the sequels we now know. Many things have been said about this series of stories. Dani and Ro take a deep dive into the first set of stories. We explore some similar themes to the sequel trilogy and rediscover what worked and what didn't.
