The Collector (1965) with Sophia Heftler

5/6/2024
EPISODE 200! Wow. You might be looking at your phone and saying "hey it doesn't SAY episode 200". That's because a few weeks I shared another person's show on the feed so I could take a break. Take my word for it, it's episode 200. Ok, so that's the end of the show, right? Wrong! That's at 200 movies covered, not 200 episodes. There are 12 LEFT INCLUDING THIS ONE. Could I have made this any more confusing? probably not! That said, I am thrilled to welcome my mother to the show, she has been a huge supporter of the show since it's inception and I'm glad we made it this far so both my folks could talk about their pick for the best horror movie ever made. WHICH IS, The Collector, from 1965! Great movie, great book. Check out the episode to learn more about both! A great suspense thriller from icon William Wyler about a proto-incel new bourgeoisie butterfly collector who adds a young art student to his collection. This movie has got it all! Don't miss out. link to post about the show's conclusion ----more----PLUS: New bonus content for the patreon includes a guest appearance on Guys Gotta Gotti, full video of the Gremlins commentary I did with Mike Mitchell of the Doughboys and the Choose Your Own Adventure book "Track Star" being navigated with the help of the twitch chat. Hour of the Wolf (1968) with Lonnie Nadler

2/12/2024
Is Lonnie Nadler still alive, and will this night ever end? Soon, soon, youth - or never! Because we're talking about Ingmar "Bergy" Bergman's Hour of the Wolf! We're getting into the lasting influence Hour of the Wolf had on everything from David Lynch's filmography to The Blair Witch Project and Fargo, Lonnie's fascination with Southern Gothic and how that's impacted his work on the Sickness & Golgatha Motor Mountain, PLUS MUCH MUCH MORE! Don't miss out! PS: one thing i forgot to touch on in the episode is the metaphor of johan keeping the flesheaters "safely hidden" under the bed since he cant destroy them, in the form of the diary, and its only by Alma's prying (albiet at the old woman's prodding) that they are brought into the daylight. Another accusation from Bergman for Alma to be guilted about, bringing the question of "maybe I shouldn't have asked about his anxieties and just let him be" into the mix. from the corrections department: I accidentally said corporeal punishment instead of corporal punishment. ----more----PLUS: New bonus content for the patreon includes full video of the Gremlins commentary I did with Mike Mitchell of the Doughboys, and the final episode of Plutember was December's bonus episode, so if you want to hear JP and me discussing George Romero's The Amusement Park, you must venture behind the dreaded paywall!!!! Constantine (2005) with Mike Regan

12/25/2023
Merry Christmas!! Hey, can you pick me and Reegs up from the airport? We just flew in from HELLAX and boy are our arms tired. Luckily the in-flight entertainment was this week's best horror movie ever made, Constantine (2005)! We're keeping things on theme for Plutember 3: All Georgie Picks: Week 2: With Reegs, talking about a psychic detective, bespoke leather accessories, character names like "doubleface" and our write-in campaign for the WHAP boys to get involved in Constantine 2! #WHAPBoysGetInvolvedInConstantine2. hmm... maybe that hashtag could still use a little work. PS: the final episode of Plutember will be the bonus episode of the month, JP and I discussing George Romero's The Amusement Park, only behind the dreaded paywall!!!! Sign up now so you don't miss out on this and many more great bonus episodes. Production note: While editing this episode it felt noticeable to me that I was a little scattered. Sadly my "producer" and dear friend Stevie the cat has passed away, and this was recorded a few days before that happened. I was trying to just keep things on schedule since there wasn't much I could do but her illness was definitely on my mind, so I apologize for any moments that seem a little distracted.

Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) With We Heard About Pluto

12/11/2023
Did you do your best this year? Too late now... 'cause Santa's here. This week: a very special Plutember begins! It's all George picks, all month long, and first up - the gang's all here for Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)! This is one of my favorites, a seasonal classic and a perfect exploitation movie in my opinion. It's a genuinely compelling movie, and I forgot to talk about it in the episode but I think its kind of a bummer how much of the conversation Silent Night, Deadly Night 2 takes up. Sure "Garbage Day!" is funny and there's some goofy eyebrow acting in the back half but the "highlight reel" style of the first half completely destroys the pacing of this movie, which is what makes it so unique! The slow unfolding of the story is so integral to it. All this to say, Silent Night, Deadly Night is the best horror movie ever made, so listen to Reegs, JP and I break down exactly why that is! PLUS: Constantine as the last main feed episode of the year, and George Romero's The Amusement Park as the December patreon spotlight! Really great stuff that I'm excited to talk about. PLUS PLUS: the livestream schedule is shaping up! Our trivia tournament is set, and our planned live commentaries guests include the Drop King Robert Persinger and the Spoonman himself, Mike Mitchell! Further details here! ----more----PLUS PLUS PLUS: Check out the BLHHiP Patreon to get early access to episodes, bonus episodes, discord access and more!
