Feed Swap Friday: Marriage is Hard. Divorce is Hard. Choose Your Hard.

8/26/2022
Feed Drop from the Ex-It Strategy Podcast In this episode of the Exit Strategy, we are joined in the studio by the hosts of the Girls That Do Stuff podcast, Sarah Madras and Jenny Midgley. Elizebeth and Sarah talk about how they don't necessarily want or push people to get a divorce; their job is to find the best solution to everyone's problems. Although many people who have gotten as far as consulting a divorce attorney already have their minds made up. Sarah talks about how she keeps her wedding dress on a mannequin outside her room because "why not display something that you spent so much money on." She sets the stage for walking down the hall to their bedroom to remind them of their wedding vows. Jenny talks about her wedding day and the issues leading up to her big day. We discuss and debunk the stereotypical roles of husband and wife and how they have evolved. We talk about the importance of flexibility when choosing a partner and discuss the "red flags" that you need to look for in your partner before you decide to get married. Sarah talks about how John Gottman, the marriage researcher, and his retreat helped her marriage. It gave them tools for communication that revolutionized their relationship. Sarah and Jenny discuss navigating friendships with people outside of your marriage and their opinions about getting professional help. We talk candidly about the seasons of marriage, what they are and how to navigate through them in a healthy way that can strengthen your relationship. If you'd like to hear some advice from people who have worked hard on their marriage about what worked for them, how it's not always the honeymoon phase, and how it takes work to make it work, then this episode is for you. You have to choose your "hard." Staying in a marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. The choice is up to you.

Feed Swap Friday: Mike Doyle's This Was The Scene

8/5/2022
Stick Figure Suicide was a punk rock band from Milltown, New Jersey. The band was formed in 1997, and were part of the emerging emo-punk rock scene of the late 1990s in the Northeast. Their music has been described as a mastery of “old-school hardcore moves and hyperspeed tempos” with clean, precise, over-driven guitars, and they are classified as a blend of fast and melodic hardcore-punk, with lyrics that are occasionally humorous. They drew comparison to the music of the hardcore punk band Minor Threat, and even Against All Authority. Maximumrocknroll described their songs on the Road Kill EP Split with Mohawk Barbie as “displaying some pretty good energy of their own with their early ’90s style hardcore. In case you missed it: Jillian Lama

7/26/2022
In today's episode, our guest star Jillian Lama comes on to talk about her podcast The Body You Crave, and she also runs a program with the same name. Jillian is a master life and weight loss coach and founder of the Body You Crave Method. She helps smart, ambitious women (like you!) end emotional eating, lose excess weight, and feel amazing in their bodies - no cheating required. Sarah talks about how she changed her mindset away from the whole idea of good and bad. This mentality extends to more than just food. Weight Loss and personal development go hand in hand. If you’re struggling with emotional eating, cravings, self-sabotage, or self-doubt, your solution lies in your mindset (i.e., the way you think). Jillian teaches you tools based on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy that will help you identify and overcome unhelpful ways of thinking so that you can hit your goals faster. Jillian talks about how when you overeat. You need to stop thinking you are a failure, change your mindset, ask yourself why you overeat, and understand what triggered the behavior. Jenny talks about how she has had to cut dairy and grain out of her diet, how that has affected her view on food, and how much she enjoys it. Jillian talks about how we need to debunk what we normally think about food and that it's important to give ourselves grace and one bad night is not a failure. Bodies are different, and it is not just the number on the scale. Jillian shares her own weight story and how she started her business and podcast. Jenny talks about how she had to change her mindset on throwing away food, and because it is leftover does not mean that you have to eat it that minute. Everyone talks about their ideal body and what that means for them. Find out more about Jillian Lama on her website
