4.39 - Revolutionary Road | Kate Winslet

2/20/2024
Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio reunite in the emotional 2008 drama, Revolutionary Road. With the tension (and chemistry) off the charts, plus an amazing supporting cast including Kathryn Hahn, Kathy Bates, David Harbour, and Michael Shannon this movie led us down an emotional road. Listen to hear how this film ranks out of all 46 Kate Winslet movies! This is our penultimate episode of the season! Website Instagram Merch Support the show

4.38 - Romance & Cigarettes | Kate Winslet

2/13/2024
Are there a ton of stars in this movie? Yes. Is it a musical? Kind of... Is it weird? YES. The genres of musical/comedy both feel like a bit of a stretch for this eccentric 2005 movie. Starring Kate Winslet, James Gandolfini, Susan Sarandon, Christopher Walken, Steve Buscemi, Mandy Moore, Mary-Louise Parker, and MANY other recognizable names - this is one that left us scratching our heads wondering how the heck so many people signed on for this movie! Despite it all, we have to admit that Kate went full send on her firey mistress character. Take it from us - skip the watch and tune in to get the scoop from us instead on Romance & Cigarettes! 4.37 - The Life of David Gale | Kate Winslet

2/6/2024
In The Life of David Gale, Kate Winslet is a reporter getting an exclusive scoop on the events that lead up to a man landing on death row. The catch? He has spent his entire career as an anti-death-row activist. Smells fishy, right? We were a little surprised by how swept up we were in this drama, as the whole movie is a race against time while Kate tries to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Co-starring with the always incredible Laura Linney, Kevin Spacey (whose character's actions certainly continue to not age well), and an opera-loving-always-lurking-cowboy (Matt Craven) - come along with us as we review this dark thriller/mystery/drama and find out how it ranks out of all 46 Kate Winslet films! 4.36 - Finding Neverland | Kate Winslet

1/30/2024
Finding Neverland stars Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet, and Freddie Highmore and is based on the true story of the penning of Peter Pan. Though it may stray from historical facts, the movie is charming, fantastical, and moving. This is a 'kid's movie' that adults can equally enjoy and we just loved it. 4.35 - Jude | Kate Winslet

1/23/2024
1800's England, two cousins... what could go wrong? Apparently everything. Join us this week as we review Jude. Despite wanting to yell "what is wrong with you! no!" at the screen the whole time while watching this, we agreed the disastrous plot was actually engaging. Kate's character frustratingly waffles on her morals the entire time, everything looks damp and cold, and we both cried. 4.34 - Faeries & A Kid in King Arthur's Court | Kate Winslet

1/16/2024
Two more early kid's movies from Kate Winslet are being reviewed this week! Faeries was Kate's first voice-over animated role - a fantastical premise set in a tiny world in the woods. A Kid in King Arthur's Court was Kate's second movie and surprisingly features a bowl-cut-laden medieval Daniel Craig. We think Kate and Daniel deserve a re-do as co-stars as they've gone on to do such amazing things! Listen to hear how these early showings stack up against Kate's other 44 movies! 4.33 - Iris | Kate Winslet

1/2/2024
The 2001 romance drama, Iris, captures the life of novelist Iris Murdoch between flashbacks of her youth and her present-day battle with Alzheimer's. This movie's poignant and effective tug on the heartstrings is no doubt a testament to the stellar cast including Kate Winslet, Dame Judi Dench, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Bonneville, and Penelope Wilton. This film is melancholy, but it packs a punch in just over 90 minutes. Tune in to hear how it ranks out of all 46 Kate Winslet movies! Website Instagram Merch Support the show

4.31 - A Christmas Carol & Buttons | Kate Winslet

12/19/2023
Buckle up for possibly our favorite episode of the season reviewing A Christmas Carol (... :The Movie) and Buttons (.... :A Christmas Tale). One is a classic holiday story, with a ~twist~ including mice, distractingly poor animation, and a UK chart-topping single by Kate Winslet herself! The other is like watching a community theater production - what year is it? why are the background characters mouthing the words of lines that are not theirs? it's a musical?! Kate only has one line and then ISN'T IN THE MOVIE?! In other words - it's wholesome but not good and we cried laughing while recording the episode and you absolutely don't want to miss it! 4.30 - Little Children | Kate Winslet

12/12/2023
Little Children (2006), starring Kate Winslet, Patrick Wilson, Jennifer Connelly, and Noah Emmerich, is a drama/romance/thriller (?) following an unhappy pair of suburbanites engaging in an affair while the community reacts to a recently released felon. While we felt this melancholy plot plodded along and went down too many side avenues to be a big hit - you should still tune in to hear our full review and how Little Children ranks out of all 46 Kate movies! 4.29 - Mary & The Witch's Flower | Kate Winslet

12/5/2023
Mary and the Witch's Flower, released in 2017, surprised us with its cute animation and fun plot! Kate voices one of the antagonists in this anime film directed by Oscar nominee Hiromasa Yonebayashi. With an 89% on Rotton Tomatoes, we weren't alone in liking this movie but tune in to hear where this movie ranks out of all 46 Kate Winslet movies. Website Instagram Merch Support the show

4.28 - Carnage | Kate Winslet

11/28/2023
Two upper middle-class couples try too hard to do the polite, politically correct thing by working through a disagreement between their sons in Carnage, ultimately devolving and revealing their true feelings about themselves, their partners, and their kids - with no productive outcome. Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz, Jodie Foster, and John C Reilly star in this play-like film which we had very different opinions on! 4.27 - The Reader | Kate Winslet

11/21/2023
Kate Winslet's oscar-winning performance in The Reader was both disturbing and thought provoking. Such complicated feelings present as The Reader ultimately makes you question - at what point does someone not go along with the status quo? Do you speak up to help someone, even when they are guilty of terrible things? Did they age Kate Winslet's feet, or was it a foot double...? Listen in to hear the breakdown of this award winning movie, all of our complicated feelings on it, and how Kate's chilling character influenced the overall ranking of The Reader out of her 46 movies. 4.26 - Enigma | Kate Winslet

11/14/2023
Enigma takes us back to Bletchley Park's world famous code breakers during WWII - and a mystery, a mole, and a race against time. Kate Winslet's character is one we have come to know and love from Kate - smart, witty, bold, and a bit reckless at times - wrapped up in an unassuming package. While this movie came out 13 years before the wildly popular Imitation Game, Enigma seems to be far less known. Tune in to hear our thoughts on why that might be, and how it stacks up against all 46 Kate Winslet movies. Website Instagram Merch Support the show

4.25 - Children's Animal Movies | Kate Winslet

11/7/2023
This week we're reviewing THREE children's movies starring Kate Winslet! The first is Pride, a BBC TV movie released in 2004. This movie boasts a large cast with Helen Mirren, Rupert Graves, Martin Freeman, and Robbie Coltrane starring alongside Kate! While this just seems like a lackluster attempt at recreating The Lion King, we did love seeing real nature shots and hearing about how they made this live-action movie. The second movie is The Fox and the Child featuring those two titular characters and no one else in a feel-good kids movie that Anne describes as "like a hug." Last AND (spoiler alert) least of the day is the 2019 animated film Swift that just made us wonder why Willem Dafoe and Kate Winslet agreed to be in it. 10/31/2023
Join us for our review of the 2016 drama Collateral Beauty. This movie boasts an all-star cast of Kate Winslet, Will Smith, Helen Mirren, Edward Norton, Keira Knightly, and Michael Pena. However, this movie proves a stellar cast can only take a script so far... Tune in to find out why this movie fell a little short for us and how it ranks vs. every other Kate Winslet movie! 10/24/2023

Kate Winslet did a total 180 following Titanic with two eccentric, soul-searching films - and Holy Smoke is certainly one of them. Join us as we review this movie, including our disappointment that it wasn't more cult-y (?!), our top songs we played in the car as teenagers, some of the worst use of slo-mo we've seen yet at GCP, and much much more! 10/17/2023
Today we explore another period piece, set in the 1800s on the English seaside in the 2020 drama, Ammonite. How neither Kate Winslet nor Saoirse Ronan received any major award buzz for their performances is beyond us! Join us as we discuss the plot, the amazing use of light and color in this movie, a self-assessment on whether we would recognize a fossil if we dug one up on accident, and of course - all things Kate Winslet! 4.21 - A Little Chaos & Quills (1700's Period Pieces) | Kate Winslet

10/10/2023
This week we have a two-for-one episode reviewing two 1700's period pieces set in France - A Little Chaos (2014) and Quills (2000). A Little Chaos was directed by and stars the late and great Alan Rickman alongside Kate Winslet. Quills co-stars a Girl Crush Pod co-star favorite, Joquin Phoenix, and the incredible Geoffrey Rush - both of which received accolades for their performances. We (unexpectedly) enjoyed both of these movies, for different reasons. Whether you've watched them or not - tune in for two fun movie reviews and hear how these movies land amongst all 46 Kate Winslet films. Website Instagram Merch Support the show
