3/2/2026
We are talking the recent NAACP Images Awards and the Season 2 premiere of Hulu Original Paradise.
TeaRon and BK break down NAACP Image Award Winners, red carpet looks, and Paradise's biggest moments, fan theories, and what might be coming next.
What are your predictions for Season 2 of Paradise?
One of the most talked-about series of 2025 is officially back! TeaRon and BK dive into the Season 2 premiere of Paradise on Hulu, breaking down the first three explosive episodes of the dystopian thriller starring Sterling K. Brown as Xavier Collins.
Season 2 wastes no time expanding the world beyond the underground bunker. EPISODE 1 introduces Annie, a young woman whose connection to Elvis Presley’s Graceland takes a tragic turn and ultimately leads her into the chaos of the post-apocalyptic outside world.
Meanwhile, EPISODE 2 follows Xavier after his daring escape from the Colorado bunker as he crash-lands in the dangerous wasteland of Arkansas. Injured and searching for answers about his missing wife, Xavier encounters a surprising group of survivors—and eventually crosses paths with Annie.
EPISODE 3 pulls viewers back inside the bunker where political tension is brewing. Sinatra is revealed to still be alive, secrets about the origins of the underground city begin to surface, and a rebellious movement led by the former president’s son threatens the fragile order of Paradise. With new alliances forming and hidden motives emerging, the stakes have never been higher.
From shocking twists to new characters and expanding mysteries, the Season 2 premiere raises more questions than answers.

BK's Blacklist - The Great Debaters | Episode 87 | Ubiquitous Blacks Reviews
2/23/2026
In honor of Black History Month, TeaRon and BK revisit the 2007 film The Great Debaters for a fresh BK’s Blacklist review. It’s BK’s first watch and TeaRon’s long-overdue revisit, and the two dive into the film’s powerful themes of racism, justice, and resilience.
They break down the film’s fictionalized depiction of the Wiley College debate team, the standout performances from Jurnee Smollett, Denzel Whitaker, Denzel Washington, and Forest Whitaker, and the lingering “what could have been” of Nate Parker’s once-rising career.
Why does a story set in the 1930s feel so relevant in 2026? And how does the film land differently for a millennial viewer vs. a Gen Z first-timer?

Joe's College Road Trip - Movie Review | Episode | UB Reviews
2/16/2026
In Tyler Perry's Joe's College Road Trip, Perry takes one of his most unhinged characters, Joe, and pushes him even further. What was once just Madea’s oxygen-tank-toting, foul-mouthed brother becomes the leader of a cross-country “educational” journey as he attempts to teach his grandson B.J. what it really means to understand and appreciate African-American history.
But Tyler Perry doesn’t just push boundaries… he blasts past them. The film opens with a content warning that still doesn’t prepare you for what’s coming.
When Brian asks Joe and Madea for help after discovering how little B.J. knows about HBCUs and Black history, Joe and his grandson sets off on a chaotic, raunchy, and controversial road trip that takes us from Mississippi cotton fields to Tennessee blues clubs… and even a brothel scene that has the internet debating how far is too far for Tyler Perry these days?
Is Perry mixing education and vulgar humor in a bold new way or is this a misfire that strays too far from his core audience? TeaRon & BK break down the shock factor, the cultural conversations, and whether TP Studios should continue down this road.

Underneath: Children of the Sun Review | Episode 83 | Ubiquitous Blacks Reviews
1/19/2026
We’re kicking off 2026 with something different.
TeaRon and BK review the independent sci-fi film Underneath: Children of the Sun, a passion project years in the making that has already pulled in over 800K views on YouTube—a major win for indie cinema.
Directed by David Kirman, the film is set in 1850s Missouri, where a man’s chance encounter with an alien survivor from a crashed spacecraft pulls him into a much larger intergalactic conflict. The result is an ambitious blend of Black history, cosmic politics, and generational legacy.
TeaRon and BK break down the film’s impressive visuals, bold ideas, and its decision to weave a slavery storyline into a sci-fi epic—while questioning whether the story fully delivers on its massive promise.
Is Underneath proof of what Black audiences are craving—and a glimpse into the future of independent filmmaking—or does its ambition outpace its execution?

Higher Learning Movie Review - BK's Blacklist
1/12/2026
BK’s Blacklist is back, and this time TeaRon and BK revisit one of the most provocative and unsettling films in Black cinema history: John Singleton’s Higher Learning.
Released over 30 years ago, this controversial cult classic feels disturbingly more relevant today. Set on the fictional Columbus University campus, Higher Learning traps America’s most volatile social issues inside a pressure cooker—where race, masculinity, identity, white supremacy, patriarchy, and violence collide with devastating consequences.
The film features early performances from future Black Hollywood heavyweights and cultural icons including Omar Epps, Ice Cube, Tyra Banks, Regina King, Laurence Fishburne, Busta Rhymes, alongside Kristy Swanson and Jennifer Connelly. Each character represents a different path through college life, exposing how ideology, insecurity, and power can radicalize young minds.
TeaRon and BK unpack Singleton’s bold vision, debate whether the film still holds up, and confront the uncomfortable truth at its core: the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Does Higher Learning still hit too close to home in today’s America—or was it always meant to be a warning we ignored?

Unexpected Christmas - Movie Review | Episode 81 | Ubiquitous Blacks Reviews
12/22/2025
It’s time for another Black ensemble Christmas movie — but this one is Unexpected.
TeaRon and BK break down Unexpected Christmas, the holiday comedy starring Lil Rel Howery, Dominique Perry, Reagan Gomez-Preston, and the legendary Anna Maria Horsford. Before diving into the film, the hosts reflect on some of their favorite Black Christmas classics and what expectations come with them.
In Unexpected Christmas, Marissa (Perry) is blindsided when her longtime boyfriend Richard (Howery) claims he can’t join her for Christmas — only for her to arrive at her family’s Texas home and find him there anyway… as the date of her estranged stepsister Kerry (Gomez-Preston). From fake boyfriends to messy revelations, chaos erupts as Marissa plots her holiday revenge.
The question is: does this movie deliver festive fun, or does the drama overwhelm the cheer? TeaRon and BK unpack the twists, performances, and whether Unexpected Christmas earns a spot in the Black holiday movie rotation.

Young Famous & African Season 3 Review | Episode 75 | Ubiquitous Blacks Reviews
1/21/2025
Young, Famous, & African: Season 3 – The Drama, Glamour, and Chaos Return!
The wait is over! Netflix has finally delivered the third installment of its glamorous reality series, Young, Famous & African (YFA), and it’s as extravagant and drama-filled as ever. This show has been a staple on the Ubiquitous Blacks platform since the very beginning, making this review a special one.
After a year-long hiatus, YFA is back with all the glitz, heated arguments, surprise weddings, and lavishly staged events we’ve come to expect. But was it worth the wait, or should Netflix have left it on the shelf?
TeaRon dives deep into the season alongside two special guests, unpacking the antics of returning stars like Zari “The Boss Lady,” Naked DJ and his now-fiancée Kayleigh Schwark, Swanky Jerry with his jaw-dropping fashion, and Nadia Nakai. We also see the return of Annie Macaulay-Idibia (without her husband 2Baba this time), Luis Munana, Fantana, and the superstar himself, Diamond Platnumz.
The season also introduces new faces to shake things up, while fan-favorite Khanyi Mbau makes only a brief guest appearance, leaving viewers wanting more. And, as usual, the drama often centers around events that are discussed but never shown on camera.
Was the wait worth it? Did the new season live up to the hype, or has the shine started to fade? We’re breaking it all down and giving our thoughts on the long-anticipated third season of Young, Famous & African.
What did you think of the season? Are you still hooked, or are you ready to move on?

Muncie, a polarizing television journalist, becomes embroiled in a murder mystery deep in the Poconos that threatens his credibility, career, and family. As he fights to clear his name, the story pulls us into a tangled web of lies, deceit, and societal truths that eerily mirror the world around us.
In this episode, TeaRon is joined by his brother Joseph for an engaging deep dive into The Madness. Together, they unpack the show’s twists, themes, and how it brilliantly reflects real-world issues—reminding us that bad people sometimes escape justice.
This thriller also brings an amazing cast to the screen, including Deon Cole, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Gabrielle Graham, Thaddeus J. Mixon, John Ortiz, and Tamsin Topolski.
