Ep.188 - Braid (PC)

5/12/2024
We're taking a spin through the world of Braid this week, this game where you play as a nice guy called Tim who's trying to rescue a princess. Or is he? The game is billed as a commentary on games design itself. Or is it? And the main mechanic is that you can rewind time to retry puzzles. Or do you? Yes, you do. It's a game well-loved by many for its obtuse nature so listen in to see how we fare with it. Ep.186 - Broken Sword (PC)

4/14/2024
"Paris in the fall, the last months of the year, at the end of the millennium..." So begins the first Broken Sword game (AKA The Shadow of the Templars AKA Broken Sword 1), this game where George Stobbart avoids death in a bomb blast at a café in a trap set by a clown then decides to find out what on earth caused this to happen, triggering all manner of point and clicking around Paris, Ireland, Syria and other locations. It's held in very high regard by all, and both Ashley and Chris have great memories of the game, so give it a listen to find out whether it holds up! Ep.185 - South Park (Nintendo 64)

4/13/2024
In the heady days of 1998, with Y2K looming large on the horizon, Napster nary a whisper in the ears of two Seans (or Shawns, depending which one you ask) and Pokémon registering as but a distant rumble for anyone in the West, Matt Stone and Trey Parker were just about hitting their stride in putting the world to rights and making fart jokes with South Park. And then they went and made a game called South Park on the N64, and now we're here, in 2024, telling you if it's any good or not. What a journey! Ep.184 - Tomb Raider 2 (Sony PlayStation)

3/31/2024
To mark the recent release of Tomb Raider 1, 2 and 3 Remastered, Chris takes Ashley down into some deep dark tombs to do some raiding in Tomb Raider 2. Yes, the remastered collection came out two months ago now. Yes, we only did the first one last year. Yes, we hated it when we played it. What a pair of little scamps we are! The sequel was touted as being bigger and better than the first one in every sense so listen in to find out whether we finally get what all the fuss is about. Ep.183 - Project Zero 2 (Sony PlayStation 2)

3/24/2024
We're back! After a month or so off, we're coming back this week with Project Zero 2, a survival horror game that gave Ashley the willies back in 2003 when he played it and some spooky goings-on happened during gameplay. Using a camera, your objective is to take photos of ghosts as you explore a mysterious village in order to bust them. Did it make us feel good? Listen in to find out! Ep.182 - Tekken 3 (Sony PlayStation)

2/12/2024
Biff! Bang! Pow! This week, we're re-appraising Tekken 3, this game where a mystic beast gets unleashed and the only way to appease it is to stage a fighting competition. This is one of the big daddies of fighting games yet Chris hated it as a nipper - what will him and Ashley make of it nowadays? Ep.181 - Super Mario Sunshine (Nintendo GameCube)

2/8/2024
We are capping off this year's Mario and Sonic saga with a relaxed trip down memory lane, on to Memory airport where we will catch a short flight over the Memory ocean and come to land on Isle Delfino, along with all our Mushroom Kingdom pals. Then we'll watch as Mario gets banged up abroad for being a hooligan. I don't know where I'm going with this, but I do know that this week's game is Super Mario Sunshine. Is it still any good? Ep.180 - Sonic CD (Sega CD)

1/31/2024
We continue our jaunt through Sonic and Mario month 2024 with this game where you play as a blue hedgehog running round collecting rings and that. Time travel and the Mega CD / Sega CD are this game's USPs, and Chris has fond memories of playing the PC re-release in the late 90s. Will this swing Ashley into agreeing that Sonic games are alright, really? Ep.178 - Super Mario Wonder (Nintendo Switch)

1/13/2024
To kick-start our annual Sonic and Mario month, Chris takes us back to the heady days of October 2023 (a mere 3 months ago at time of release) to wander through Super Mario Wonder, a 2D Switch platformer that harks back to classic Mario and certainly not all the New Super Mario nonsense. 2023 Xmas Special 5 - Best of 2023

1/4/2024
As 2023 draws to a close, Chris and Ashley take a ramshackle look back at their gaming highlights of the year. At least, that was the brief but neither of us followed it. What a shambles. We then discuss what we're looking forward to in 2024 - see you for for Sonic and Mario month in January 2024! 2023 Xmas Special 4 - Gift of the Game

12/26/2023
It's Chrimbo Limbo, that lull between Christmas and New Year. Ashley and Chris are marking the occasion by recommending a game they have each enjoyed this year, which might make a lovely treat for yourself or someone else during the festive period. This year's choices are Vampire Survivors and Dredge - give us a listen to find out why we think they'd make perfect presents. 2023 Xmas Special 3 - Conker’s Bad Fur Day (Nintendo 64)

12/20/2023
What is there to say? Conker's Bad Fur Day has made its own reputation and, in 2001 Ashley succumbed to that by putting it on his Christmas list. Alongside American college frat houses, adolescent boys were probably the second-most target for Nintendo and Rare's irreverent team-up, and it certainly went down well with our then-teenage host. But is it any good now? Listen in to find out! 2023 Xmas Special 2 - New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo DS)

12/12/2023
Christmas, Chris says, is for doing whatever you want, so he's gone and thrown his own rules out of the window and brought a Mario game for us to play this festive season. Making its first appearance on the Nintendo DS, New Super Mario Bros. became a staple of every Nintendo console lineup for the next 15 years. Chris gifted it for Christmas in 2007, and now he's trying to spread the festive joy by gifting it to us. But is it any good? Let's find out! 11/28/2023
Bubbles are back, baby. Everyone's talking about them, not least of all Chris and Ashley who are this week playing the OG bubble blaster, Bubble Bobble on the Sega Master System. It's a game that's got it all: dinosaurs, bubbles, dragons, more bubbles, questionable pickups, and still more bubbles. But is it any good? Listen in and find out! Ep.175 - Burnout Revenge (Sony PlayStation 2)

11/11/2023
Normally, Chris and Ashley only ever gotta go fast when they're hanging about with sketchy blue spiny mammals, but this week, just like Markus Zuckybug instructed, they're using cars to proceed quickly and smash stuff in Burnout Revenge! Like a big boy's version of a kart racer, the player is tasked with forcing other racers off the road, into walls and over cliffs so that they can be victorious. Is it any good?
