This week we return to our divisive horrors feature, looking at the horror films that cause a stir in good and bad ways and films that you either love them or hate them. Skinamarink (2022) is an experimental horror film in the vein of The Blair Witch Project about two children left home alone as the house starts unveiling horrors all around them (not that you will actually see any of that). The film released on Shudder became a hit but for some it was a genius horror experiment and for some it was of an overshot student film standard. We are looking back at Van Helsing (2004) on it's 20th Anniversary. We discuss our own history of this film with Robbie loving this nostalgic monster movie in his teens and Seb never really understanding the fuss. We discuss the film at length looking at its roots within grindhouse horror and comparing it with the original trailer from the Grindhouse double bill of Robert Rodriquez's Planet Terror and Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof. This week we return to our yearly feature of January Dumping Ground where we search the local tip for the best and worth films released in the often maligned January film release. January's can be a hard time for film's and often studios dump their content there when they have little faith in it. Often these dumped films are not well received or become flops at the box office. This week we return to our Video Nasty segment delving into the banned underworld of international cinema that were banished in the UK. A 80's Italian zombie horror that features some low budget mud zombies and the weirdest child character possibly ever placed on film, played by what looks like a 40 year old little person.
