El Sistema is a world-famous orchestral music program that started in Venezuela in 1975. Sistema-inspired programs have been active in Aotearoa for over ten years, breaking down the barriers to music tuition in low socio-economic areas, and providing free lessons and instrument hire. Wae Aumalesulu is a Samoan-born kiwi who owns & manages a recording studio called TeJit Records, as well as a member of The Four Fathers, a band made up of low-vision musicians. What is ‘sonic art’ or ‘sound art’?
