Johnny Duhan is famous for writing ‘The Voyage’ – one of his many great songs. His father was a seafarer and Johnny became so interested in the sea in his native city of Limerick, that he tried to stowaway on a ship. He talks about the song the experience inspired. Sea Scouts are our NEWSMAKERS OF THE MONTH for April. I was invited to their annual Seamanship Awards – the Seamanship Competition for Sea Scouts, which has been run every year since 1995. Supported by the Irish Institute of Master Mariners, it was held at the National Maritime College in Cork.
