How connectivity is reshaping the medical industry

6/19/2023
Finding the right doctor isn't always easy. In almost all counties in the Asia Pacific, the average number of doctors per 1000 people is lower than the OECD average, meaning many patients are forced to travel for hours to whatever doctor is available. Today, you'll hear from two individuals actively working to improve access to medical services, thanks to telehealth and connectivity. Cole Sirucek is the Founder and CEO of DocDoc, a system-wide solution that takes the stress and confusion out of healthcare. You'll also hear from Abhinav Lal, the Co-founder of Practo. Practo is a health platform and technology company with a mission to make healthcare more affordable and accessible for over a billion people in India. In this episode, Cole and Abhinav discuss how seamless connectivity will power advanced telehealth, and how these services, along with the use of artificial intelligence, can help revolutionise healthcare today and into the future. How connectivity is supporting global financial inclusion

4/24/2023
The World Bank recognises that financial inclusion is a key enabler in boosting prosperity, yet almost 1.7 billion adults globally do not have access to affordable loans, insurance, savings accounts, or digital payments. Many people in developing countries do not have any kind of bank account, and there is a lack of trust in the traditional banking system. Today, we're talking to two industry leaders who are looking to change this, Ardelia Apti and Nate Clarke. Ardelia Apti is the CEO of Mapan, a social financial technology company, with a focus on providing financing access through the community. Nate Clarke is the CEO and President of GoTyme Bank, a bank that combines the ease of accessible and immediate account opening with the power of self-serve financial solutions. In this episode, Ardelia and Nate explore how digital financial services can better help people manage and grow their wealth, particularly in regions where traditional banking is not possible. They'll share the steps that they have been taking within their companies to greater support financial inclusion, and the role that connectivity and 5G plays in this journey. Achieving a global circular economy

2/27/2023
Climate change is the issue on everyone's minds, as scientists predict that unless global carbon emissions are drastically reduced, that the world will soon reach an irreversible tipping point. As a result, it's estimated that a global circular economy could be worth 4.5 trillion dollars by 2030, even though the world's economy is currently only 8.6% circular. In this episode, you'll hear from Tanah Sullivan, the Group Head of Sustainability for GoTo. GoTo is the largest digital ecosystem in Indonesia, and Tanah's role involves overseeing the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance initiatives for GoTo's customers. We're also joined by Carlo Chen-Delantar, Head of Circular Economy at Gobi Partners, a venture capital investment firm. Carlo leads investments in innovative companies that are championing sustainability, drawing on his previous experience as an award-winning social entrepreneur where he helped provide access to water to over one million people in the Philippines. How connectivity will help provide high-quality education to rural areas

1/30/2023
A large percentage of people across the world live in rural communities where access to high-quality education is not as easy as it is in major cities. However, since the pandemic, there has been a rapid advancement in the spread of remote education, with the e-learning market in the Asia Pacific region accounting for over 30% of worldwide growth in the market. In this episode, you'll hear from Dr Rukmini Banerji and Abhay Saboo, who are working to provide and improve education in India and Indonesia respectively. Dr Rukmini is the CEO of Pratham Education Foundation, one of India's largest NGOs, which focuses on high-quality, low-cost, and replicable interventions to address gaps in the education system. Abhay is the Co-founder of CoLearn, a company that started as a chain of tutoring centres across Indonesia but pivoted to a completely app-based model in 2020 as a result of the global pandemic. How 5G stands to change the world

4/4/2022

Cultural connectivity

1/31/2022
The oldest living culture, Australia's indigenous communities, have shaped and told the story of Australia for thousands of years. Today, much of this incredible culture is confined to rural areas, disconnected from mainstream Australia. In this episode of Tech Cetera we talk to two experts, Luke Briscoe and Mikaela Jade, who are working with indigenous communities. And we attempt to answer the question: How can technology help to protect and ensure the future of this ancient culture, and bridge the digital and cultural divide between indigenous and non-indigenous communities? Bridging the digital divide

12/13/2021
As we adjust to a COVID-normal world that is more digitally reliant than ever, continuing to close the digital divide is critical. Some of the most digitally excluded people in Australia are low-income households, seniors, people who live in rural and remote Australia, people with a disability, and people with low levels of education and employment. What would it take to create a truly digitally inclusive Australia? In this episode, you’ll hear from two industry leaders committed to solving this problem: Gavin Williams, NBN’s Chief Development Officer, and Emilio Romeo, Ericsson ANZ’s Managing Director. Today we're speaking with Sarah Moran, CEO of Girl Geek Academy, and Gemma Lloyd, CEO of WORK180. This show is produced in collaboration with Wavelength Creative.
