124. The Bad Batch: S3 E8 & 9

4/21/2024
Brian and Amanda debate the merits of episodes 8 and 9 of The Bad Batch season 3. An important discussion on what constitutes “filler” helps rationalize “Bad Territory” and helps us appreciate the details of the episode, such as the atmosphere and character design, while acknowledging the roundabout plot development. As major Asajj Ventress fans, "The Harbinger" is decidedly more engaging. The return of the fan-favorite Clone Wars character is a highlight, though some listeners question the plausibility of her resurrection. The co-hosts express their differing views on this approach to storytelling as the episode leaves the audience with more questions than answers. 122. The Bad Batch: S3 E5

4/21/2024
Hosts Brody and Brody discuss the fifth episode of season 3 of "The Bad Batch" titled "The Return." Is it filler, or does the situation advance the characters forward in a meaningful way? With Omega and Crosshair back in the batch, the conflict revolves around unresolved tension between Hunter and his "prodigal brother." Brody argues that "The Bad Batch" is a far more compelling story than "The Mandalorian". While "The Mandalorian" relies on guest appearances rather than a cohesive story, "The Bad Batch" focuses on developing its characters and their relationships. The discussion ends with Brian and Brody proposing various fan theories about where the plot is going, including the return of Tech as a villain and who else is going to bite the dust. 121. The Bad Batch: S3 E4

4/15/2024
Brian, Amanda, and Brody dive into the fourth episode of season 3 of "The Bad Batch," titled "A Different Approach." The episode follows Omega and Crosshair as they escape a base but crash on a perilous planet. Forced to work together, they navigate the dangers and bicker over tactics while trying to find a way off-world. The episode eventually reunites them with the Bad Batch crew on another moon. The hosts' opinions diverge on the episode. Amanda appreciates the slower pace that allows for character development. Brian enjoys the show overall and finds the character interactions engaging. They both acknowledge the lore expansion the episode brings to the Star Wars universe. However, Brody criticizes the use of plot devices and views the story as having low stakes and unimportant to the larger Star Wars narrative, ultimately giving it a lower rating. The discussion concludes with the hosts speculating on the fate of our characters and future plotlines for the series. 120. The Bad Batch: Season 3 Episodes 1-3

4/10/2024
Brian and Amanda discuss their initial reactions to the season 3 premiere of The Bad Batch. They analyze how the first three episodes set the stage for the final season, focusing on Omega being experimented on at Mount Tantiss, Wrecker and Hunter finding young clones struggling to survive, and the escape attempt with Crosshair while Emperor Palpatine visits the research facility. The hosts praise the pacing, the new locations and creatures introduced, and the development of the characters' relationships. Our hosts highlight the emotional weight of Omega's situation and how it raises the stakes for the clone army. The ethical implications of the Empire's experiments and larger themes of war and control in the Star Wars galaxy are prevalent and the introduction of young clones foreshadows a larger conflict brewing within the Empire. By dissecting these elements, Brian and Amanda offer listeners a deeper understanding of the narrative and its potential impact on the rest of the season.

4/10/2024
Brian, Amanda and Brody tackle the three-part arc concluding The Clone Wars season 2 finale. Brody, on the other hand, is a Boba Fett champion, praising the character's development and the flicker of hope extinguished by revenge. The conversation snowballs into a broader discussion of Star Wars favorites and least favorites. While Plo Koon reigns supreme as their favorite Jedi Master (shocking no one?), Yoda lands firmly in Brian's "least favorite" category. With this season concluding, our hosts look forward to the final season of the Bad Batch and speculate on how it will wrap up the plotlines established in The Clone Wars over a decade ago.

109. The Clone Wars (2008)

12/7/2023
Have you seen the 2008 animated Clone Wars film? Well prior to this review, Amanda and Brody had never seen it, nor did they have any plans to. Brian, however, a Clone Wars stan, had seen it when it released and implored that as such he's the only true fan of the bunch. A film centered around the kidnapping of Jabba the Hutt's son, Anakin Skywalker, Obi Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka Tano must recover Jabba's son in order to foster a positive relationship between the Hutts and the Galactic Republic. But was this movie any good? Listen in to our review to grab our thoughts on whether this movie was a hit or a giant heap of bantha fodder.
