Ep. 170 Heath Jamieson 2nd Commando Regiment Australian Special Forces

On today's Zero Limits Podcast I chat with Heath Jamieson veteran of the 2nd Commando Regiment. Heath left high school and went to uni to study geology. After 4 years at uni, Heath got a degree in Geology and began work as a geologist in which he spent doing for around 5 years before joining the army reserves in 2006. After a year he applied for direct recruitment scheme for special forces, more specifically 2CDO. During this time he deployed to Afghanistan as part of the SOTG (Special Operations Task Group) as a sniper. In his 2011 deployment during an engagement with Taliban insurgents Heath was shot through the neck which no one can explain how he did it die that day. The bullet entered from the rear of his neck missing the spinal cord and passed in between the jugular and the carotid artery with a clean exit out the front. On today’s Zero Limits Podcast I chat with Shemtov Hollinger a IDF reservist with the Duvdevan Unit which is a counter terrorism commando unit within the Israel Defense Forces . In his civilian life outside IDF reservist deployments he is a certified nurse. He currently works at a gaming tech company in account management and he was also a pro basketball player who played for a few Division 3 teams. On today's Zero Limits Podcast part 2 podcast with Craig “Spins” Turnball. Spins was a K9 Handler in the Incident Response Regiment (IRR) now known as SOER and also spent time in 2 CER and 3 CER (Combat Engineer Regiment) Craig enlisted into the army reserve in 1990 whilst still at school and spent a couple years at 5/11 regt RAA as a FO Sig. In 1994 he enlisted into the regular army and was posted to the transport corps. After 12 months in transport he put in his transfer to become a combat engineer. Craig was posted to 2CER/ 3CER and to the Incident Response Regiment as a K9 handler. On today's Zero Limits Podcast I am joined for a chat by David Nielsen former US Army Ranger and Delta Force Operator and podcast host of the @thechristologypodcast Dave Nielsen served in the U.S. Army for 16 years. The majority of that time was spent in Special Operations. Dave served in the 75th Ranger Regiment before passing selection to serve in the Army’s Special Missions Unit, where he would deploy numerous times. Dave worked in various roles at the Unit, including as an assaulter, breacher, K-9 handler, and sniper team member. His story was featured in Channing Tatum’s HBO documentary "War Dogs” retelling the story of three dog handlers and their canine counterparts from the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). He shares stories of his dog "Pepper" who was killed while rooting out an enemy from a sewer hole in Iraq on the banks of the Tigris River and searched for her all night but had to leave once the sun was coming up as they were in enemy-held territory. Dave co-hosts a brand new show called the Christology Podcast. Ep. 165 David Packouz American Arms Dealer - Hollywood Movie "War Dogs" - CEO Singular Sound

This podcast episode will delve into the life of David Packouz, a former American arms dealer, musician, and inventor born 1982. Packouz joined forces with Efraim Diveroli in September 2005 at AEY Inc., an arms company that quickly secured numerous contracts worth millions. Their notable achievement was a nearly $300 million contract in 2007 to supply the Afghan Army with vast quantities of ammunition, which controversially included prohibited Chinese ammunition, leading to significant legal and ethical issues. Packouz played a key role in concealing the origin of these munitions, resulting in a sentence of seven months of house arrest for conspiracy to defraud the United States. His story caught public attention and was later depicted in the 2016 film "War Dogs" starring Myles Teller as David and Jonah Hill as Efraim. David also made a cameo appearance. On today's Zero Limits Podcast I have a chat with Paddy Baker former 2nd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment and now blacksmith of axes and knives with his own business called Jack and The Bear. Paddy joined the Army Reserve in 2006 while completing his carpentry apprenticeship. After some time in reserves Paddy completed his civilian apprenticeship and enlisted into the regular army posting to 2RAR. Paddy deployed to Timor and the Paddy was on the same deployment as previous guests such as @coralsearc “Fabs”, @your.mate.wilso “Kyle Wilson”, @chrismay_aus , @adsietk , which his story adds another perspective during some major incidents that happened on that Afghanistan deployment. After returning back from Afghanistan Paddy attempted and completed SASR selection however he was not selected. A couple years later he yet again attempted SASR selection and once again completed and this time was selected to continue into the reinforcement special force training cycle. A few months into training Paddy was involved in an incident which resulted in an injury that ended his military career. Dustin joined the NZ Police in 1996 and spent 8 years as a general duties officer and in 2003 Dustin successfully completed selection and training to become an Operator in the Special Tactics Group. However one month into his STG career he was suspended from duties due to an incident he was involved in whilst a general duties officer. After being cleared from the incident after one year he resumed his STG career. Mitch is a 16 year veteran of NSW starting in Goulburn as 20yr old in 2006 and finishing in 2007 in biggest ever NSW Police intake. Spending 10 years as a K9 handler in the Police K9 Unit. During training Mitch was paired up with police dog “Kane”. Kane had multiple bites which also led to multiple arrests of offenders. Kane retired and Mitch ended up with another dog Yap. Mitch trained him up and worked him to getting a few good jobs and bites and trained in USAR as well. On today’s Zero Limits Podcast I chat with Hagar Quirke former Royal Australian Infantry Warrant Officer. Hagar enlisted into defence in 1996 as a reservists. After time in reserves Hagar enlisted into the Australian Regular army as an infantry soldier posting to the 1st Battalion. Hagar deployed to East Timor in 2000, 2003 and 2006. In 2007 Hagar deployed as a section commander from the 2nd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment as the first regular army Mortar section to Afghanistan. In 2011 Hagar’s brother McQuilty “Coco” Quirke NSC was on deployment in Afghanistan when he was wounded in action by a improvised explosive device. Hagar also posted to the 3rd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment as well as multiple other postings and did a multi organisation deployment to Sinai and Op Resolute border patrol operations. On today's Zero Limits Podcast I am joined in the studio by Mark Direen former SASR Australian Special Forces operator. Mark enlisted into the military in 1993 and after completing infantry training he was posted to the 1st Battalion Royal Australian Regiment. Mark applied for, and was selected to join the elite ranks of the Australian Special Air Service (SAS) Regiment. Serving in the SAS for over 10 years, Mark specialised in mobility operations, sniping, personal protection duties, special reconnaissance and training of local indigenous forces. With numerous deployments during his service in the Special Forces including Sydney Olympic Games, East Timor, Iraq and five tours of Afghanistan, Mark has extensive experience and knowledge in operating under pressure, working in and leading teams in some of the world’s most hostile and unforgiving environments. In 2007, while serving as an operational team leader in Afghanistan, Mark suffered serious injuries during an IED attack. Evacuated home to Australia, Mark focused intently on his recovery and rehabilitation. Displaying his trademark determination and tenacity, Mark successfully made a full return to health and deployed back to Afghanistan just six months later. Discharging from the Regular Army in 2009, Mark continued to work in complex and high-risk environments, namely as a team leader and security manager at the Australian Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan during the period 2009 to 2016. On today's Zero Limits Podcast I chat with former NSW Police K9 Handler Paul Zubcic. Paul was born in Queensland however soon moving at a young age down to the NSW South Coast. After finishing school Paul went to University and completed a bachelor in Business Administration however had set his sights on becoming a Police Officer. Paul joined the NSW Police in 2012 and first posting was to City Central LAC. Up until joining the K-9 unit Paul became a weapons trainer, OSG Officer and OSG trainer. After a few years Paul passed testing and training to become a K9 Handler for NSW Police. When the covid 19 pandemic was in full swing the Australian government placed mandatory vaccine mandates on all front line workers. However Paul with 52 other officers declined the vaccinations and he was dismissed from the police in 2021 for not obeying a reasonable direction. Upon leaving the police Paul started his own dog training business Summerland Dog Training, where he specialises in teaching Police Dog disciplines to the civilian market. On today's Zero Limits Podcast I chat with Krishna Thapa former British Gurkha and 22 SAS operator. Krish grew up in mountains of Nepal, he applied to join the British Army's Royal Gurkha Rifles as a teenager and was successful. He spent 7 years in the Gurkhas before attempting SAS selection, becoming one of the first two Gurkhas to ever join the Regiment. Krish spent the next 17 years within the regiment rising to the rank of Warrant Officer. During that time he became the leader of mountain troop, training his fellow SAS soldiers and deployed multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan. On todays Zero Limits Podcast I chat with Patrick Hopkins former Royal Australian Army Medic. Pat was born in the UK and migrating as a young kid with his family to Queensland. Pat enlisted into catering corps as a cook in 1999 . Post training cycle he was then posted to 3RAR an infantry airborne unit. During this time the unit was deployed to East Timor in which shortly after arrive into the battalion Pat deployed to East Timor. After a couple of years in the role as a cook Pat decided to change corps and transferred into Medical corps becoming a medic. On today's Zero Limits Podcast I am joined in the studio by Craig Hamburger former Australian Special Forces 2nd Commando Regiment operator. Craig enlisted into the Defence Force 1999 into the infantry and after completing recruit and initial employment training he was posted to then 4RAR. During this period 4RAR at the time were transitioning into becoming a specific special forces unit in which Craig completed all training to become a qualified commando. He deployed on multiple occasions to East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan. During one of his deployments in Afghanistan he was awarded a Commendation for Gallantry which his citation reads "Corporal Hamburger’s gallantry in the face of heavy, accurate and sustained enemy fire ultimately ensured the safety of the other members of his team, and allowed them to regain the initiative, forcing the enemy to withdraw. On today's Zero Limits Podcast I am joined in the studio for a chat by Deb Wallace by former Detective Superintendent 36 year NSW Police veteran. Deb joined the NSW Police in 1983 and quickly found herself gaining notoriety early in her career, when she was involved in the investigation into the murder of 26-year-old nurse Anita Cobby. From this she was invited to undertake Detective training which led to an extensive career commanding various specialist squads, including the South East Asian Crime Squad, Middle Eastern Organised Crime and Strike Force Raptor. In the 90s she was a detective at Cabramatta fighting Asian street gangs, including the infamous 5T, which have since vanished.
