The boys spend way too much time breaking down both wildcard races. Nobody wants the final spot in the east, but someone has to make the playoffs by default. Detroit, Washington, Philly, the Islanders, and maybe even Buffalo have opportunities to make the playoffs if they can string some wins together down the stretch. Out west, the Vegas Golden Knights are hanging on by a thread while they wait for key players to return from the island of injured reserve. Nashville is the hottest team in the league and has all but locked up an unlikely playoff spot, while Minnesota and St. Louis try to chase down the slumping champs. The boys close out the pod with some listener questions, followed by some news and notes from around the league. @BeerlyHockey @BeerlySports

The boys break down the late flurry of moves from last Friday's trade deadline, starting with the ridiculous Hertl trade that continued Vegas' trend of LTIR cap circumvention. Matt Rempe finally got popped by NHL player safety, should he have fought New Jersey's new tough guy? Is Rick Bowness ruining the Jets' offense? The boys come in HOT with some breaking news as the Carolina Hurricanes finally add a premium offensive threat in Jake Guentzel! Aaron and Phil get heated over the big moves made by the Colorado Avalanche and make a high stakes bet on the outcome of a flaming hot take. Nate loves the Leafs' defensive additions, but hates Aaron's analysis of the moves made by the Oilers. Vegas is at it again with the salary cap manipulation and blockbuster trades.
