How The Work Hard Gene Is Keeping You Fat

9/17/2023
Do you feel the need to constantly go-go-go? Always doing things 24/7? If so, there's a reason for this. And it's not because of your schedule, or your kids or your responsibilities. In this episode, Natalie shares some key concepts that will allow you to be productive AND enjoy life more, and not feel the need to constantly be efforting your way through your day. "So sometimes there's some shame around being joyful or playful or relaxing. There's some shame around being seen as enjoying yourself. It's like the shame of allowing yourself pleasure, the shame of allowing yourself to be happy. And it's like seeing almost as a judgment of, "well, if I'm happy and that person sees me resting or sees me as happy, then that means that I am indulging or I'm being lazy or I'm not working hard enough." - Natalie Newhart Connect with Coach Nat! You think you just don't have the discipline or the willpower, or the right plan, or mabe you think there's something wrong with your body... none of that is true. You have it all. Your body is perfect. Even the plan is perfect. The problem lies in the reason you're doing the plan. Most people are following a plan to lose weight. And that's the mistake. How To Trust Yourself and Your Body Again

9/3/2023
Do you trust yourself? Do you trust yourself enough to have chocolate in the house ? Do you trust yourself enough to rest when your body needs it ? Do you trust yourself enough to say no to things you don't want to do? A big topic that comes up when we talk about creating vitality in the body is learning how to trust ourselves again- how to trust our hunger, our cravings, and our need for rest. Most people don't trust their body to tell them what the right decision is around food, movement, and rest. Which is why people go to coaches, to tell them what to do. Learning from a coach or a plan can be good in the beginning to get guidance. But once you have this knowledge, then it's time to take off the training wheels and learn how to trust your own intuition, your own wisdom, your own body. Tune in to learn how Natalie has built her up her own trust within herself and how she teaches her clients to trust their bodies again. "When we finally give ourselves free reign, we go and eat everything. We need to all the chocolate, all the sweets, all the fun foods , and then we go 'I can't trust myself' but it's actually some energy imbalance going on that's causing this back swing of 'now I need to eat back that energy.'" - Natalie Newhart Connect with Coach Nat! The Darkside of Being Disciplined

8/27/2023
Have you ever wondered why you lose control with food? Or why you have that day where you feel like you've been ran over by a truck? In this episode, Natalie shares why that happens and why being super disciplined with your food and training may not be as helpful as the dieting world makes it out to be. We try to control our food, our training, our daily schedule and forcing ourselves to stick to the plan. And it's this need to control that always leads us to swinging out of control, and then losing trust in ourselves. An important part to making fitness a lifestyle is learning how to free yourself from this need to control. Tune in to learn how Natalie teaches herself and her clients how to let go of control. "Forcing ourselves to follow the plan may make us feel safe, but is it really creating the life you want? Are you expeirencing food freedom? Are you experiencing life fully? Are you feeling full of life? Or are you becoming more obsessive, burnt out and overhelmed?" - Natalie Newhart Connect with Coach Nat! Bridging the Gap of Fitness and Happiness

8/20/2023
It's so easy to get caught up in thinking that "when I have the body I want, THEN I'll be happy." But it doesn't work like that. You may experience short-term gratification when you achieve the body you want, but it's only a matter of time until you feel empty inside again. And the truth is, needing a particular body to feel happy is often the very thing that keeps women from achieving the body they're after because it creates attachment. Attachment to the body creates worry and fear of losing the body (obsessing over food, calories, step count, scale weight). Living in this constant worry and fear will create a body that doesn't burn fat well, will lead you to eat more, and make the gym feel like a chore. Attachment to a particular body will create a life of worry and fear instead of the peace and happiness that we're all after. There is a way to create both fitness and happiness though! Tune in to this episode to hear how. "So yes, we can strive for a vision of the body we want . But do not look expect it to create the absolute fulfillment. Because it will never satisfy." - Natalie Newhart Connect with Coach Nat! Instagram: @natalie.newhart Work with me: calendly.com/natalienewhart/workwithme Website: natalienewhart.health

Feel More Happy Through Your Day

8/13/2023
The way to feel more passion for life or peace in your life is to feel it. Emotions can be trained just like muscles. The more we feel peace in our lives, the stronger it gets. So the way we train happiness is to feel it. In fact, happiness is our natural state. However, most people are not aware of how they are so quick to give up their happiness. They allow the smallest things to shake them and cause them to not feel great- from an email that comes in, or how their clothes fit, or if somebody walks on their floor with dirty shoes. In this episode, Natalie shares practical approach on how to train happiness so that you can feel great more of the time. "No matter how good life is, no matter no matter what body we have, now how much money we have, no matter how many people we have that love and care about us... all those things immediately don't matter when we're stuck in painful emotions of sadness, or fear, or anger. Like what matters is alleviating that pain." - Natalie Newhart Connect with Coach Nat! Instagram: @natalie.newhart Work with me: calendly.com/natalienewhart/workwithme Website: natalienewhart.health

Why You Want to Be Intuitive With Food and Training

8/6/2023
Intuition is the key to being fit while having freedom in your life- freedom from all the diet rules and diet structures that so many women get stuck in. But so many women have lost their abilty to feel because they've been so conditioned by society to trust 'the plan' instead of themselves. This dependency on macros, meal plans, dieting apps, and diet coaches is the reason why women struggle to create the body and life they want - especially as they get older. In this episode, Natalie shares why intuition is so important when it comes to creating the body you want and how feeling good is the key to looking good. "Our attachement to diet rules and diet structures just ends up making us feel really, really shitty because we end up forcing ourselves to follow the plan instead of our feelings." - Natalie Newhart Connect with Coach Nat! 7/30/2023

And have you ever considered what impact those repetitive thoughts of self-hate and disgust are having on your body and your relationship with food? Creating a fit and happy body is about learning how to put retrain the way you think and feel about your body by putting more love in. How Your Body Is A Reflection of Your Thoughts - Part 1

7/19/2023
In this episode, Natalie gets real clear on how your body is a mirror of the thoughts that you're allowing your mind to think. Creating a fit body with peak health and vitality is an inner game, not an outer game like we're conditioned to believe. You hear it everywhere- our thoughts are power, our thoughts create. So why aren't you training your mind in a way that will create the body you want? Or the food habits you want? Or the gym habits you want? Have you ever considered why you do the things you do? Why is it so hard for you to eat without weighing and counting? Why is it so hard for you to motivate yourself to workout? Why is it so hard for you to rest? Natalie shares her insight and her experience as to how your thoughts are the real problem- not the food, your discipline, or your busy schedule. Get Rid of Limiting Beliefs for Good

12/11/2022
When we are trying to adopt new habits and create new actions that will help us achieve our goals, the first thing we try to do is DO the thing. Overnight and all of a sudden, we try to eat healthier, not obsess about our bodies anymore, start reading, start drinking more water, or whatever it is we want to start doing. It just doesn’t work that way: we first need to recognize what prevented us to change in the first place. In this new episode of FitChic for Life, Natalie dives deep into what we can do to identify these ‘limiting beliefs’ and ‘attachments’ and how to effectively break them. By getting rid of these patterns, it’s going to be easier to become a new and more aligned version of yourself, and the goals will be easily met as well. Tune in! “If we continue to do what we have always done, we will get what we have always gotten. Nothing will change. So we must be willing to fundamentally allow everything that we know to change, and that is scary.” – Natalie Newhart Connect with Coach Nat! How to Transform Your Relationship with Food with Molly Carmel

11/20/2022
Diet culture has so many of us feeling like we have a complicated relationship with food. So many people have been dealing with eating disorders for many years, and they got to a point where ‘struggling’ and ‘suffering’ have became their identity. This mentality makes it hard to change, which makes you stay in the same place, which turns into a cycle. In this episode of FitChic for Life, Natalie welcomes Molly Carmel. Molly is a food addiction therapist and author of ‘Breaking Up with Sugar’. She has been devoting her time to helping people to break up their disruptive relationships with food. Having gone through eating disorders herself, Molly shares in this episode the ‘guidelines’ and the necessary self-development work that one has to do to get free from vicious patterns with food. “If you have been harming yourself with food or with an unhealthy relationship with food for a really long time, it might mean that it takes, not a really long time, but some time to come out of that.” – Molly Carmel Connect with Molly! Addressing Your Goals from a Place of Intuition

10/30/2022
Welcome to another episode of FitChic for Life. Today, Natalie shares special tips and strategies to achieve your fitness goals from a place of intuition, instead of an obsession. It’s really common for people who want to take better care of their health to get caught up with tracking calories, tracking steps, and obsessing over exercise. But, it doesn’t need to be that way. In fact, it can lead to anxiety and feelings of overwhelm. “Surrender” is the keyword to be able to do this, and Natalie explains that is not happening overnight and it’s not going to be easy. The body and the mind are too used to following all the rules. Wouldn’t it be better to pursue your goals with ease and only because it feels good? Sit with yourself, ask yourself this question, and try to visualize your goals from a different perspective! “To get to that place where we want to be, we’re going to have to let go of that attachment, to that false sense of safety. And when we do that, it’s going to feel scary, and wrong, and uncomfortable because our impulse is going to call us to want to follow the diet plan, the gym plan, or whatever used to work for us.” – Natalie Newhart Connect with Natalie! Belly Burning Exercise

10/16/2022
In this episode of FitChic for Life, Natalie shares with the listeners the greatest exercises to do when it comes to belly fat burn. We all know – and Natalie shares this a lot on this podcast – that some factors like stress and sleep quality, impact fat loss. However, we can’t forget about the exercise portion of it. Especially for women over 35: the activities that once worked, don’t work anymore but that can be reversed. Natalie also dives deep into two very important topics: 1) Working harder doesn’t mean working smarter and the “go go go” mentality can be stressful and delay your results. 2) Stress and food can get you in a lopping state that is hard to get out from. When we feel stressed, we seek out food and when we binge on food, we get into a stressed state. Tune in to learn more! “Stress is the thing that is blocking women from seeing results in the gym or seeing results from their diet, so you can be eating well and working out perfectly but none of that will work if the body is stressed out, whether it be physically or mentally.” – Natalie Newhart Connect with Coach Nat! How to Get Rid of Belly Fat

10/9/2022
In this episode of FitChic for Life, Natalie shares the best tips and strategies – as well as a very thorough explanation behind them – on how to get rid of belly fat. Especially for women, the way we lose fat, lose weight, and change our bodies, transforms over time. The practices that once worked, sometimes don’t work anymore and that’s completely normal: the same way we age, our body ages as well. Natalie explains that despite being a crucial part of the weight loss journey, counting macros and focusing on calories might not be enough to get results. It’s also important to pay attention to a few other things: managing stress throughout the day, getting good nights of sleep, hydrating, and, most importantly, hormones. Hormonal imbalance is a huge component of this and Natalie debriefs this topic today. Tune in! “If you learn how to control your nervous system and you learn how to direct your mind, instead of letting your mind and your nervous system control you […] all of a sudden your body naturally starts to let go of the weight that is clinging to.” – Natalie Newhart Connect with Coach Nat!
