Widad Taleb Yacoub is a Lebanese journalist and a political activist. Today, she lives in Dubai with her husband and works as a Senior Reporter for CNN Business Arabic. She became interested in journalism while living in Lebanon and documenting political turmoil on Instagram. She witnessed gruesome horror on August ,4 2020, during the Beirut explosion, prompting her to start over in Saudi. Before that, her family tried to gain German citizenship. Tricked by a family friend into asylum, they lost everything and endured six months in a refugee camp with limited funds and no means to return home. This, coupled with the Beirut blast, led to her developing PTSD. Widad loves her family and advocates for social awareness, particularly for children, in politically unstable regions.
