#59- A Cult Survivor Meets a Psychiatrist- Interview with Dr. Rebecca Allen

3/12/2024
Welcome to The Truth That Heals Podcast! This episode seeks to understand the importance of taking care of our mental health as well as the role psychiatry has in assisting people to getting the help they need. Joining me for today's episode is Dr. Rebecca Allen who walks us through what the process is like becoming a psychiatrist, what depression looks like, and we even get to talk about a few movies and tv shows, and more! In the latter part of the interview we steer the discussion towards a different direction. As a survivor of an End Times Cult it was important for me to ask a few questions regarding some of the behaviors I witnessed inside the cult and to hear an expert's thoughts on the matter. This was an enjoyable interview for me as a podcaster and very eye/mind opening. #48- To Forgive and Forget? My Journey After Leaving a Cult

10/21/2023
I used to think that forgiveness meant forgetting the past and pretending like nothing bad ever happened. I didn't have self respect. I blamed myself. I let the abusers from the cult off the hook. Later I realized that I wasn't actually forgiving. Instead, I was ignoring the wounds that I had within me. Instead of blindly forgiving everything and anything I decided to acknowledge what happened to me, to willingly make the choice to forgive, and to learn a lesson that boundaries are okay. Speaking up is okay. So now instead of pretending like everything is okay, like everything is fine and dandy, I am learning to create boundaries and to learn from my experiences. Many told me that I wasn't truly forgiving if I wasn't able to forget but I now realize that it's okay to set up boundaries and to talk about my experience. I have the right to heal as loudly as I want to. Forgiveness shouldn't be forced. It is a choice that we all have the right to make. #47- Was I Trafficked by the AHFI Cult?

9/24/2023
Over the years I tried ignoring all of the red flags. Everything was the fault of the members. But then I started to open my eyes and became aware of what happened to me. The fraud. The manipulation. The fear. And so for today's episode I want to talk about trafficking that I believe I experienced. Many will say that I wasn't trafficked and that I chose that life. The truth is many of us couldn't leave. The superiors of the group held onto our passports and other important documents to make sure that we wouldn't leave and some ex members even had their visas ripped out of their passports to keep them from leaving. Some will say that I wasn't being trafficked. I say I was trafficked. What do you say? --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ryan-anthony-hernandez/support
