On April 26, 2023 the House Judiciary Committee,The Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement conducted a hearing on the topic, The Biden Border Crisis: Exploitation of Unaccompanied Alien Children. Meanwhile, the committee debated a 137-page bill unveiled by House Republicans this week that would restrict asylum eligibility, increase penalties for immigration violations, heighten employment verification requirements and expand migrant family detention. While the Democrats have complained that the Judiciary Committee was out of bounds, back on Feb. 27, 2003 the House Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security and Claims inducted a hearing on the topic: New York City's 'Sanctuary' Policy And The Effect Of Such Policies On Public Safety, Law Enforcement, And Immigration. On February 7th the House Committee On Oversight and Accountability conducted a hearing on the topic: “On The Front Lines of the Border Crisis: A Hearing with Chief Patrol Agents.” Two Border Patrol chiefs testified at the hearing and painted a terrifying picture about how the disastrous border crisis is undermining national security and public safety. DHS Secretary Mayorkas tried desperately but unsuccessfully, to block those courageous chiefs from testifying. On January 31, 2023 FrontPage Magazine published my article: A Former FBI Counterintelligence Chief and Russian Collusion That article was predicated on two DOJ press releases we examined on my show that reported on the arrest of both the former FBI Chief of Count-Intelligence and a Reitred Russian Diplomat and translator who became a naturalized U.S. citizen and then got a sensitive job as a translator for the federal court system. They alleged to have colluded to provide illegal assistance to a U.S.-sanctioned Russian oligarch in exchange for hundreds of thousands of dollars. This is one of innumerable cases that calls into question the vetting process for aliens. Yet many Democrats and Republicans are calling for Comprehensive Immigration Reform. For my program this evening I have decided to focus on the how the enforcement of our immigration laws has morphed over the past 50 years, calling upon my institutional memory of the former INS when I was hired back in 1971. Beginning with Jimmy Carter who ordered that INS employees stop using the term to describe illegal aliens - and use the term “undocumented immigrants” public perceptions were altered by the political leaders of both parties. Perception has become reality and for the profiteers of immigration, the immigration system has come to serve them well- changing from a law enforcement agency that was supposed to protect national security, public safety, public health and the jobs and wages of American workers, to a system that provides an unlimited number of exploitable foreign workers, foreign tourists, students and, for the immigration lawyers- on both side of the political aisle, an united supply of clients.
