Healing Chronic Illnesses & Finding Freedom with Mêrfleur Wellness Alumni Client Shiloh Woodard

6/16/2023
This week we are welcoming an incredibly special guest, a Mêrfleur Wellness Alumni Client, Shiloh Woodard, onto the podcast to share her powerful story of moving through chronic illness and cultivating sustainable health. Shiloh is the embodiment of courage and resilience when it comes to reclaiming your health. She's a vibrant, glowing, and happy soul. It’s beyond inspiring to hear that Shiloh has overcome challenges like a Lyme disease diagnosis, relying on an oxygen tank to breathe, debilitating allergies, and so many other physical and mental symptoms that often left her bedridden. Shiloh brings us into her story and offers the invaluable wisdom she has gained along the way. This episode is here to be a lighthouse, to show you that healing is possible, and that moving out of a deep chronic healing season is an option for you as a Natural Sensitive. There is always hope when it comes to healing in the body. It is easy to become resigned to the new normal as a survival tactic, but Shiloh is here to tell you that you are meant for so much more! Discussion Topics Quotes “One thing I have learned on this journey is that every body is different. My diet is not going to be your diet, my medication and my supplement are not going to be the same as yours. There are some similarities because we're human after that, forget it. So, I think the process of learning to trust your unique body is really what healing is about.” - Shiloh Woodard “Pain is only telling you the truth... With that said, learning to live with pain is a mistake because when you live with something, you ignore it. I think of it more like a child that is screaming. You need to acknowledge that your child is screaming, find out why they are screaming, and then if you can, soothe it.” - Shiloh Woodard "We're here to learn our unique lessons and we won't learn the lessons unless we feel them. There are lots of people with beautiful hearts that want to heal people but here's the problem… if you don't allow a person to experience their struggles, you are robbing from them the joy and the greatness that they can become.” - Shiloh Woodard Connect with Shiloh @shicurls the Method & 1:1 Care with Jessi merfleurwellness.com Watch the Episode HERE! You, Natural Sensitive, are a big dreamer by nature, but often you hold yourself back for fear of losing your sanity, safety, and most of all, your health. Whether you’re longing to be a professional athlete, a podcaster, a CEO, a painter, an actress, a dancer of some kind… Jessi is here to affirm the necessity of your sensitivity in these pursuits and show you how to create your larger-than-life dreams while remaining healthy and resilient. She provides three powerful recommendations that will leave you encouraged, inspired, and focused. Learn how Jessi is pursuing her dreams and how you can too! Grab a tea and get cozy because this episode is about to ignite your sensitive soul! Discussion Topics Quotes “The more you honor your sensitivity, the more you’re honouring the dream.” “Learning how to implement your authenticity in real life is about embracing risk, not just in the actions of pursuing the dream, but in the actions of how you choose to live your entire life. It's all related." “It’s important that you understand how it is that you are wired to go about reaching your dream. Just because someone did it a certain way doesn’t mean that’s how you are supposed to do it. You have to check back in and ask who am I? What are my gifting? What are my natural tendencies? What makes me thrive? How can I marry these things with the dream that I have?” Read Episode Transcript HERE Follow Along or Direct Message us HERE the Method & 1:1 Care with Jessi merfleurwellness.com

Ashley Spanovich of Awakening Spaces is joining us to discuss the value of curating a home that is both beautiful and safe for Natural Sensitives. In modern society, the health of the home and its impact on our overall vitality is widely overlooked. As Ashley shares, a safe home takes into consideration air quality, building materials, EMF exposure, and more. Thankfully, Ashley is here to walk us through the steps we can take to increase safety, beauty, and peace in our homes! We're not fans of the extremist approach, so it’s not about eliminating 100% of your exposure to all harmful substances. Tune in to hear how to create a healthy beautiful home in a balanced and sustainable way! This episode will open you up to a wealth of knowledge and practical tips, empowering you to make informed decisions about your home! Discussion Topics Quotes “You could build the most perfect healthy home but if you don’t feel safe in your own body you will never feel safe in your home.” - Ashley Spanovich “Looking at the technology and devices that you're using in your home and thinking about how can you limit your usage is a really big important step in creating a healthy environment.” - Ashley Spanovich “The beauty of our homes is that we have the ability to control our environment but we can’t control everything outside of our home. I try to know that I am doing the best that I can in my own home and allow myself to relax and accept that I don’t have full control when I am out.” - Ashley Spanovich Connect with Ashley @awakeningspaces Awakeningspaces.com Watch the Episode HERE! A Vulnerable Heart Share on Hermitness & Relationships

5/26/2023
This week Jessi is sharing a very personal episode around healthy introversion and relationships. She opens up about how she navigates relational expectations from others as a solo-time loving Natural Sensitive. If you too need seasons of healthy ‘hermiting’ as we like to call it then you know it can be a very difficult aspect of life to explain or even consistently honor. Choosing to intentionally live as you're uniquely wired is daunting when 99% of the population isn’t going to understand your boundaries and needs. We are here to tell you that you are not alone! Jessi shares the lessons learned from a lifetime of wobbling between people-pleasing and her own needs and desires. Despite the current societal perspectives, choosing to spend your life or chapters of your life with a very small inner circle can be an incredibly delightful and peaceful way to live. Even more importantly, if this is how you're wired to function, fighting against it for the sake of other people's wants will only drain you and prevent you from living out your true purpose on this earth. We hope this episode inspires and empowers all our fellow hermit Natural Sensitives! Discussion Topics Quotes “The hardest line to walk of my entire existence is learning how to love someone while not over-committing to them.” “Living authentically doesn't give you permission to say screw other people they need to figure me out on their own. That is true selfishness. For me, it's about honoring and respecting who I am while also recognizing that 99.9% of people are different from me and being gracious and kind enough to put myself in their shoes and to then find the right words to communicate to them who I am so that they're don’t get hurt.” “I am proposing that it is quite possible to be healthy while having little engagement with others.” Read Episode Transcript HERE Follow Along or Direct Message us HERE the Method & 1:1 Care with Jessi merfleurwellness.com

How to Safely Drop Into Your Sensitive Body Through Somatic Systems with Manisha Tare

5/19/2023
Have you struggled to feel connected and "in" your body? This is a common experience for us Natural Sensitives. We love the ethereal, the spiritual, the mental, but from a young age were taught to reject the emotional, the body. To uncover natural ways to support and care for our sensitive bodies, Jessi sits down with Embodiment Coach & HSP Mentor, Manisha Tare. Manisha specializes in HSPs/Natural Sensitives and as a result her toolbox is full of somatic therapies that will easily bring you and I back into our bodies! During this conversation, we learn why somatic (body-focused) therapies can be the quickest and most effective ways to reconnect to ourselves. From yoga to craniosacral to parts work to simple emotional witness work, Jessi and Manisha discuss why body-based approaches are easier and more transformative for Natural Sensitives than traditional talk therapy. Somatic therapy has also received a lot of limelight recently on social media, so Manisha and Jessi clarify how you can navigate the various opinions and styles, and ultimately know who to trust with your own journey. Manisha is a gifted sensitive healer. We are thrilled to introduce you to her profound and sweet spirit! Discussion Topics Quotes “When I work with my emotions in a really intentional way I can read my body’s reactions to help lead me directly to the source of the emotions.” – Manisha Tare “A lot of unresolved emotions and trauma come from attachment issues or early childhood trauma. It’s all very relational. As we understand this and get to the root, we can clear major charges from our nervous system. This shifts our physiology and nervous system so that you can relate to people and situations in present time without the baggage of the past.” – Manisha Tare “I am here to help people recognize their story and drop into their bodies for the answers. So often that we just try to figure things out in our minds when in reality the fastest answers and the fastest resolution comes from being able to drop into the body.” – Manisha Tare Connect with Manisha Manishatare.com @manishatare Master class on strengthening boundaries Watch the Episode HERE! How to Navigate a Sensitive Body Crisis

5/12/2023
This week Jessi brings us into a recent body experience of her own and uses it as a teaching tool for us! She shows you how to practically handle a healing crisis in your sensitive body. A common occurrence for us Natural Sensitives, since we often are encouraged or choose to address too many symptoms at once. If you are familiar with functional nutrition and naturopathic care, this can include what is known in the natural healing world as a herxheimer reaction. To be clear, this does not include situations where immediate emergency medical intervention is required, instead, Jessi is guiding you through the moments when your body is sending clear messages that it is overwhelmed, overtaxed, moving too quickly through detox, and struggling to find center - ultimately it is asking for help. This can manifest as sudden rashes, hivess, anxiety, depression, migraines, acne, allergies, flu-like cold symptoms or as it did for Jessi respiratory challenges. Your symptoms will be unique and a reflection of what you are addressing in your healing season, physical or emotional. Jessi gives us a glimpse into the Method's upcoming new inclusion - how to understand your body's natural patterns when under duress by identifying which organ system(s) in your body is the first to go when the body is overwhelmed. She shares with us her three-step plan to avoid panic and gently aid in healing when we do enter these moments of crisis. In light of the recent year's health challenges, she also shares a few quick tips around one of her favorite healing modalities for the respiratory system - nebulizing therapy. This episode will leave you empowered to create a comfortable plan of action for the next time you feel your sensitive body reacting strongly to your healing protocol, environment or emotional process. Discussion Topics Quotes “Despite what you may think, when we're experiencing sickness is actually the time to pull back on natural supports and give your body space. This is when we need less information, less intake, and more space.” “Supporting a sensitive body is all about building a toolbox. It’s all about knowing your own method of supporting your body and the best way to do this is educating yourself on how your body communicates to you.” “When you’re frustrated with your body expressing itself in a way that's unwanted. Take a moment to just sit and just let your body buzz. Let it do its thing while you focus in on your breathing and allow yourself to settle into the body.” Links Mentioned Jessi's Nebulizing InstructionsThe Method Read Episode Transcript HERE Follow Along or Direct Message us HERE the Method & 1:1 Care with Jessi merfleurwellness.com

The Story of Triumphant Recovery From Narcissistic Abuse With Empath Raven Scott

5/5/2023
This week we are thrilled to welcome Podcaster, Author, and Spiritual Mentor Raven Scott for a candid conversation around a popular, but often misunderstood topic - narcissism! The term narcissist (NPD) has grown in use these last few years, but as Raven and Jessi discuss, narcissism isn’t as easy to identify as we’ve been led to believe. If you're an empathic Natural Sensitive and you've wondered if you're in a narcissistic relationship or perhaps even been told by someone else in your life that you are a narcissist, this episode is for you! It is common for sensitive empathic humans to attract and connect with more dominant aggressive humans, making it vital that we understand and recognize true narcissistic abuse. Our sensitive guide, Raven, walks us through it all, openly sharing insights into her 10-year relationship with a narcissist and offering hope to the many empathic Natural Sensitives that have been through or are currently in a similar experience. Her specialty is helping us identify, navigate, and heal from relationships with narcissists. Raven's story is a powerful one and her wisdom is profound. You will leave with real-life examples and resources. This can be a tender topic, so please be kind and gentle with yourself as you listen and definitely seek support if this resonates and you desire freedom and recovery. May Raven's wisdom and vulnerability educate and empower you! Discussion Topics Quotes “I believe we are all born empaths and our empathy is a connection to our soul, to the energies, and to the divine. There can be an unhealthy balance of empathy just as there can be an unhealthy balance of ego. If we go too far on either side of the spectrum, we can lose ourselves.” – Raven Scott “Acceptance is so critical when navigating a relationship with a narcissist. It creates peace within yourself and allows you to be a witness from a place of healthy detachment. It is also when forgiveness can roll in naturally.” – Jessi Michel Agadoni “Our souls pick our individual struggles. No matter how much you want to, you can’t save someone from their challenges because they aren’t yours to fix.” – Raven Scott Connect with Raven Raven’s Website @ravenscottshow on Instagram @ravenscott.show on TikTok Empath and The Narcissist Podcast Links Mentioned Empath and The Narcissist Book Empath and The Narcissist Audio Book Watch the Episode HERE! Updates With Jessi and How to Honor the Authority of Your Sensitive Body Over Experts

4/28/2023
Do we ever have an episode for you this week! Jessi released her expectations on what she would cover in this episode as she began to channel an abundance of wisdom on a range of topics to share with you all. It begins with her sharing a takeaway from her recent personal experience with hyperbaric oxygen therapy and her initial thoughts on how and when fellow Natural Sensitives can utilize this kind of biohacking therapy. This leads to the discussion of trusting your brilliant sensitive body and allowing yourself to feel into the answers that naturally arise, regardless of the current science or authoritative expert. She reminds us that science is simply theory. In its pure and healthy form, science, especially nutritional science, is continuously changing as new data emerges. It often lacks the big picture or the specificity of your personal body's experience. So… with all this changing information being thrown around, how do you know what is actually best for your body that will stand the test of time? How do you "feel into it"? Jessi teaches us how to rise above the confusing roller coaster of recommendations. At the core, no one is ever meant to be more of an expert than you are on your own body. You must have the final say, always. Jessi shows you where to start, how to navigate your health journey, and when it can be advantageous to bring in an expert. All this to say… episode 34 is a potent one waiting to offer you unique Natural Sensitive-specific insights and refreshing perspectives. Discussion Topics Quotes “Data, facts, and science are all open to interpretation. We are constantly having to rethink, reevaluate, and be open to the possibility that new information can be presented and change our current knowledge of something. That is how we progress.” “If you aren’t actively choosing to trust your body, you will naturally give your power over to an external authority.” “Good science will never claim that 'scientific facts' are permanent.” Read Episode Transcript HERE Follow Along or Direct Message us HERE the Method & 1:1 Care with Jessi merfleurwellness.com

The Tale of Two Natural Sensitives Moving to the Country & Back Again - Learn How to Trust Your Body to Make Big Life Decisions

4/21/2023
This week we welcome back our wise friend, writer and mindfulness instructor, Kyra Evans, to share about her recent relatable Sensitive experience. In an interesting twist of fate, both Kyra and Jessi chose to relocate to the country around the same time for what they thought were their long-term homes. As they share, they soon discovered that the picture-perfect country lives they had envisioned for their introverted selves were less than idyllic. Owning their true feelings, they chose to step back, lean into their body’s’ intuition, and follow the new paths that awaited them. Woven throughout their storytelling we receive their reflections on lessons learned, expectations, gratitude, regrets, body wisdom, community, decision making, and more. This episode offers experiential mentorship for fellow Natural Sensitives considering a significant life change, looking at an the abyss of an unknown future or bobbing in the deep end of the pool of transition. We see you. We feel you. Come learn from our beautiful tumbles and enjoy a gentler ride. Discussion Topics Quotes “Do I regret taking this leap of faith and having it turn out the way that it did? No, not at all because I see with certainty why that needed to happen and how so much growth came as a result. So, if you're thinking, should I do this? What if it doesn't work out? Just know that there is no such thing as not working out. You win either way.” – Kyra Evans “I have learned that my tendency to try and use logic to get myself out of situation does not work for me anymore.” – Kyra Evans “For me, gratitude doesn’t work. What I do instead is practice acceptance and noticing the present moment. When I am in a tricky situation, I really focus on just sitting with it. That is more effective than trying to jump ahead to a secondary emotion which takes me out of where I need to be.” – Kyra Evans Connect with Kyra Instagram TikTok Website Books and Downloads Links Mentioned Kyra’s Article in Introvert, Dear Watch the Episode HERE! We are the leaders when it comes to living seasonally and reconnecting to the earth and God's creations.” “No expert, no one in a white coat, no one with letters behind their name will ever truly know what your body needs. You cannot have just one side of a coin.” - Analena Fuchs “Every single one of us ultimately has the courage to bring forward their natural gifts and talents and feel worthy to get paid for it. What does it actually feel like to be a healthy and integrated Natural Sensitive? As Jessi marks the start of her 35th year around the sun, she reflects on her biggest lessons learned, shares what her healthy thoughts, relationships, and work look like, and celebrates the tangible growth and healing she has found. Pursuing holistic health as a Natural Sensitive will involve many ups and downs, however as Jessi shares, the journey is absolutely worth the results! Hang in there if you’re struggling to see the light at the end of the tunnel, this episode is for you! If you are in need of hope, inspiration, or just a fellow Natural Sensitive to relate to, tune in for some encouraging expansion. If Jessi can do it, so can you! In a surprising announcement, she also gives us an exciting insight into the future of the podcast! Discussion Topics Quotes “I have learned on my journey that there doesn't have to be a big red flag, trauma, or abuse for you to have permission to step away from a relationship.” “As a Natural Sensitive, not many people are actually going to understand me. When they give advice, they are only able to view me from their lens, which is quite a different perspective. Unless I'm speaking to a fellow Natural Sensitive, there is going to be a disconnect. So any advice that I receive or wisdom that's given to me needs to be filtered with the understanding that they don't actually know who I am and they don’t truly function the way I do.” “The biggest lesson that I've learned as a Natural Sensitive is to not look to others for my value.” Read Episode Transcript HERE Links Mentioned Lacy Ann Philips of To Be Magnetic Follow Along or Direct Message us HERE the Authentic Calm Method & 1:1 Care with Jessi merfleurwellness.com

Healing Risk Aversion Through Adventure

3/17/2023
Risks! Who likes to take risks!? Not many Natural Sensitives, that's for sure, but due to a recent adventure in Chicago Jessi had the opportunity to face some old fear patterns and take a risk of her own! It's been a while since she opened up and brought us into her day to day experiences, but today is one of those days. If you have struggled to step into challenging, but important opportunities in the past or desire to heal risk aversion, this episode will be very expanding for you. Jessi didn't arrive here overnight, but her practical and real life experience demonstrates the possibility of growth and freedom that is available to you as well! This is a great episode to enjoy while on a walk. Enjoy! Discussion Topics Quotes “ I want us to start separating our negative experiences from our childhood that we married into the risk taking action because as sensitives, we are here to take risks, we shouldn't be afraid of them. I think what it's all about is how we take the risk, is how we go about it, is having that awareness of what we as unique sensitives need in order to be healthy in that risk taking action.” – Jessi Michel Agadoni “ Don't avoid risks that you know in your heart are there to guide you back to yourself.” – Jessi Michel Agadoni “What I've really come to believe is that God gives us the desires of our heart. God gives us desires because that's where we're meant to go and that our desires, our longings our leanings our tendencies are not an accident. They are a reflection of who we are here to be, who we're here to become, who we actually are. So anytime I feel a spark towards something, I'm now leaning into it, even if it looks scary, even if in the past I've totally beefed something like that, even if there is a legitimate possibility that I could just eat it in front of a lot of people, I am going to lean into it.” – Jessi Michel Agadoni Read Episode Transcript HERE Follow Along or Direct Message us HERE the Authentic Calm Method & 1:1 Care with Jessi merfleurwellness.com

Marrying intuition and data is Jessi’s favorite approach. The goal of testing is simply to provide clarity on what the body is prioritizing and to determine if extra support is needed. Unlike in traditional western medicine, Jessi’s methods are subtle and nuanced, filled with respect for the brilliance of your sensitive body and encourages us to not forget we need to let the body call the shots and remain in charge. Navigating the world of functional lab testing can be overwhelming, so we hope that this episode empowers you and allows you to feel educated and prepared to support your body when working with a practitioner. You will finish this episode full of workable knowledge and may even want to bookmark this one for re-listens in the future! Discussion Topics Quotes “The American illusion that there is no gain without pain is BS. We don’t have to suffer in order to have success.” “It is crucial to know that there is a difference between food sensitivities, food allergies, and food intolerances. The GI MAP helps you understand food intolerances and the MRT is great for food sensitivities, but for allergies you will need to do an IgE panel.” “Assuming that we know how the body works or what priority the body should be focusing on does not work in our favour. We need to remember that the body is brilliant beyond our comprehension. The reality is we know maybe 5% of what your body does, and maybe we understand 3% of that.” Read Episode Transcript HERE Follow Along or Direct Message us HERE the Authentic Calm Method & 1:1 Care with Jessi merfleurwellness.com

Rather than saying I am anxious, or I am overwhelmed. Try saying ‘a part of me feels overwhelmed’. Just by making that shift you're putting some separation between you and the emotion.” – Justina Butler Connect with Justina @justinabbutler Check out her Podcast Watch the Episode HERE!
