David Jafaru returned home for treatment after an accident that caused him to lose his job. The first time insurgents attacked his village, he managed to escape, losing his fiance in the process. Unfortunately, he wasn't so lucky the second time. After spending a month in captivity with terrible living conditions, his health has taken a turn for the worse.

Maryam Adam, a woman of extraordinary selflessness assumed the role of a mother and father at an extremely young age. She was forced into motherhood at age 13, forced to drop out of school, flee from an insurgency, and into displacement. With everything she has been through, she is determined to give her children a better life.

For 105 days, Bilyaminu was held captive by kidnappers. During that time, his family tried everything they could to raise the ransom demanded, including putting up their houses and farms for sale. But this proved very difficult because of Nigeria's Naira redesign policy at that time.

The criminal violence has led to a surge in cattle rustling, raids on communities, ethnic conflicts, and kidnapping for ransom. We follow through the journey of Aminu, a student who couldn’t pay his tuition fee, and the only way was to work as a farmhand in Northwestern Nigeria. We visit the rocky landscape of Gwoza in southern Borno to speak to people whose loved ones have gone missing. No two stories are exactly the same. Some people were imprisoned by Boko Haram insurgents. Some teachers were abducted from a Qur’anic school, others from a university. Some were arrested by the military as they received treatment at the hospital. Some were captured on their farms or as they escaped to safety. One thing that doesn’t change in all these stories, however, is how devastated their families have been since their disappearance.
