Holy Monday helps us see repentance as a superpower. Repentance grants us direct access to God's heart. Many of us believe that repentance creates distance from God. Jesus however, shows that true repentance leads to intimacy with God. By cursing a fig tree Jesus condemns empty religion. Life with God is experienced through vulnerability and grace not behavior modification. Through vulnerability, repentance becomes a pathway to deepening our relationship with God, moving beyond the need to earn acceptance.
