Journey to the Fringe

Sports & Recreation Podcasts

Thanks for checking out our podcast! We look at fringe topics often neglected, or ill discussed, in a light hearted and open manner. These topics run the gambit from the mundane water pollution, recycling, and tax evasion to the fantastical moth persons, time travellers, and paranormal. For us there’s no cryptid too creepy, topic too trivial, or djinn to dreary. Also we like to do exposes on assholes of the UFO community. To keep things fresh (and also because we aren’t really sure how to start podcasts) we start every week off with a Fringey Mini recent news article and discussion (It’s the podcast equivalent of not knowing what to do with your hands). And as we say in our intro from the unexplained to the mundane, join us on our journey to the fringe.

Missing 411: the rest of the information

5/3/2024
Welcome back, it's part 2 of "how is Chelsie going to pronounce 'Paulides' this week"? Fun fact, this episode actually doubles as a drinking game every time Chelsie pronounces 'Paulides' differently (just a suggestion). Another fun fact, the drinking game is just the sub plot. Aren't episode notes better when we actually write them and we don't let AI do our unpaid jobs for us? Alright, let's get on with this... it's PART 2 of the David PAULIDES MISSING 411 PHENOMENON, this episode we're focusing more on the MISSING, but also David Paulides. What's he up to this episode, you ask? I assume you ask because you're reading this. Well let me tell you, it's some stuff. That's for sure. Some of that stuff includes, but is not limited to; the criteria to make it to his very spooky disappearances list, some critiques of his work, a look at some of the disappearances that David Paulides deems as so spooky it defies all logical comprehension, the NATIONAL PARK SERVICE CONSIPRACY, then some talk about logic and errors... plus...MORE! Wow, look at all those 178 words. My job here in the episode notes is done, catch you in the episode budddddddddddddddyyy Ps.) David, if you're reading this please cease and desist the use of Chelsie's patent pending filing system, and more importantly, please send us an autograph. If you need, we can request it on very official paperwork and include so, so many lies. Oh, one more thing please rate us 5*, share the episode and like us on social media. Peas out minerals

Another Wednesday, another Fringe mini. Anyone else still compelled to spell Wednesday in their head like Wed-nes-day? I don't. Anyways, I assume you're here to learn more about the mini and not discuss our head happenings. Speaking of head happenings, you ever feel like sometimes our episode notes turn out just as good if not better than the episode? I don't. Anywho what was I talking about? Right, vegtable's mineral's. Hasta la Viernes! Music creds

Missing 411: the devils in the details... that weren't included

4/26/2024
It's hereeeeeeee, the long-awaited David Paulides, Missing 411 Saga. Trigger warning police brutality This episode we're focusing on the man behind the Missing 411 brand, the man that used to be a police officer and would never deceive you or misrepresent the devils details (see what I did there). I don't want to give it all away here but, we look at D.P's background in the police force and what he did and why he was fired. It's true, why would I lie, it's not like i've been fired from the police force for reasons unbeknownst to those that haven't listened to this episode and insist on reading these episode notes instead. Then we talk about bigfoot, love that guy. kbye ps.) there's other stuff but just better to listen kbye Links..... Fringe Mini- DUNE: washed away

4/24/2024
Oh hello, I didn't see you there. You must be wondering about this episode we're both here listening to. Firstly, I recommend just having a listen to see what's going on, it's not that long. It is a (Fringey) mini after all. But if you insist on reading the episode notes as well, best I can recall is that it's about rich people who are trying to combat how scarily oceanfront their houses are becoming. The answer of course; sand dune. Does it work? I can't remember so I guess you're going to have to listen to the episode anyway, but I think we were already in agreeance that you would. These stairs are up to something!!!!!

4/12/2024
TGIF, and in F day spirit I' m about to let AI do my job! Not happy about it? Too bad because no one is paying me to do this! Before you venture !forth! please set your expectations low and listen to the episode as this description may or may not have anything to do with the what you listen to. Example, your host is not named Professor Curious McSpecs, but i'm sure you knew that? Enjoy! Ladies and gentlemen, gather 'round! 🌲👣🔍 This latest episode is wilder than a squirrel on an espresso binge! ☕🐿️ Picture this: deep in the heart of the woods, where GPS signals go to die and compasses start questioning their life choices, there they stand—the Mysterious Stairs. 🌳🚶‍♂️ Now, these aren’t your average IKEA steps. Oh no! These stairs are like the lovechild of a Rubik’s Cube and a cryptic crossword puzzle. Each step whispers secrets from the beyond, like, “Hey, did you know Bigfoot’s favorite dance move is the ‘Sasquatch Shuffle’?” 🕺🏽👣 But wait, there’s more! 👀 These stairs may or may not be connected to strange disappearances. People vanish into thin air, leaving behind only their half-eaten granola bars and a confused owl. 🦉🌲 Our intrepid host, Professor Curious McSpecs, armed with a magnifying glass and a pocket-sized conspiracy theory, dives headfirst into the stairwell rabbit hole. 🕳️🔍 He interviews eyewitnesses, like Old Man Jenkins, who swears he saw Elvis moonwalking down those steps one foggy night. 🌚🕺 And let’s not forget Staircase Stan, the local handyman who claims he fixed these stairs once. Apparently, they demanded a non-GMO, gluten-free railing. 🌱🛠️ But the real kicker? The stairs lead to alternate dimensions. Yep, you heard me right. One step, you’re in Idaho; the next, you’re at a tea party with Cthulhu and the Loch Ness Monster. 🍵🦕 Remember, if you hear banjo music while climbing these stairs, RUN. And don’t forget your hiking boots—because nothing says “adventure” like blisters and existential dread! 🥾😱 “Journey to the Fringe”: Where the stairs are wonky, the disappearances are spooktacular, and the Wi-Fi signal is nonexistent. 📻🌌

Step into a historical enigma with us as we explore the Phantom Time Hypothesis. This episode takes you through a controversial theory that suggests a segment of the Middle Ages may have never occurred. We’ll dissect the claims of Heribert Illig, who proposed that a conspiracy led by Holy Roman Emperor Otto III, Pope Sylvester II, and possibly Byzantine Emperor Constantine VII, created a fictitious timeline. If you've got it, haunt it.

3/29/2024
**The longer this goes on, the more we let AI do our job, so I must disclose that I did not write the following description, and for authentic purposes (that's why you listen to us right?), I did not proof read this and on quick glance, it is not even close to being correct. The headings are though, so my job here is done. Welcome to the latest episode of “Journey to the Fringe: if you've got it, haunt it”! 🎙️ In this spine-tingling installment, we delve into the eerie world of haunted objects. Buckle up, because things are about to get spectrally peculiar! 👻 1. “The Anguished Man” Painting: Imagine a canvas that screams louder than a toddler denied ice cream. This painting, aptly named “The Anguished Man,” is like a tortured soul trapped in acrylic. It’s so haunted that even Bob Ross would say, “Happy little ghosts? Nah, let’s paint some existential dread.” 2. Carl Pruitt’s Grave: The Unofficial Origin of “Final Destination”: Carl Pruitt, a regular guy who just wanted to enjoy his morning coffee, accidentally tripped over his shoelace and fell into an open grave. Little did he know, he was auditioning for the lead role in “Final Destination.” The Grim Reaper was like, “You’re hired!” Now every time you spill coffee, Carl’s ghost chuckles from the afterlife. 3. Thomas Busby’s Chair: The Ultimate Game of Musical (Haunted) Chairs: Thomas Busby loved his chair so much that he cursed it. Legend has it that anyone who dared sit in it met a grisly end. It’s like a deadly game of musical chairs, but instead of losing a seat, you lose your mortal coil. The chair whispers, “Sit down, my friend. Your fate awaits!” 4. “The Hands Resist Him” Painting: This artwork makes “Mona Lisa” look like a cheerful stick figure. In “The Hands Resist Him,” creepy hands emerge from a portal, trying to escape the canvas. Critics say it’s a metaphor for unpaid taxes. But honestly, it’s just a portal to a parallel universe where hands have better things to do than pay bills. 5. Ötzi the Iceman: Frosty with a Side of Spookiness: Ötzi, the ancient mummy found frozen in the Alps, isn’t just a popsicle with abs. He’s also a ghostly tour guide. Imagine hiking those icy peaks, and suddenly Ötzi appears, saying, “Welcome to the afterlife! Mind the frostbite.” 6. The Bronze Lady Statue: She’s Got a Leg Up on the Competition: This bronze lady statue has a secret: She moonlights as a dance instructor. At night, she waltzes with other statues, teaching them the cha-cha and the tango. But beware—cross her, and she’ll cha-cha your soul right out of existence. 7. The Myrtles Plantation Mirror: Reflections, Regrets, and Ghost Selfies: The Myrtles Plantation mirror doesn’t just reflect your face; it reflects your deepest regrets. Stare into it, and you’ll see that time you wore socks with sandals. The ghostly whisper? “Fashion faux pas, my friend.” 8. The Chairs of Belcourt Castle: Where Seating Is a Spectral Sport: At Belcourt Castle, chairs play musical souls. Sit in one, and suddenly you’re at a séance with Elvis, Cleopatra, and a confused T. rex. The chairs giggle, “Welcome to the VIP section of the afterlife!” So grab your EVP recorder, charge your proton pack, and join us on this ghostly adventure. Remember, when life gives you haunted lemons, make spectral lemonade! 🍋👻

An empire built on sauce will be lost in the mud... as the saying goes

3/22/2024
In this riveting episode, we delve into the enigmatic realms of forgotten history, where whispers of cataclysmic events and lost civilizations echo through time. Join us as we explore two captivating mysteries: the Mud Flood Hypothesis and the enigmatic land of Tartaria. The Mud Flood Hypothesis: What if entire cities were buried beneath layers of mud and forgotten by modern civilization? The Mud Flood Hypothesis proposes just that—a radical theory that ancient advanced societies were wiped out by massive floods of mud. We’ll examine the evidence, from mysterious architectural anomalies to suppressed historical accounts, and ponder whether our textbooks have been keeping secrets from us. Unveiling Tartaria: Was it a vast empire lost to time, or a mere myth? We’ll journey through the fog of history. From the enigmatic Tartarian maps to the phantom cities, we’ll unravel the web of intrigue surrounding this elusive civilization (but maybe say it's a stupid theory a couple times also) Remember it may not be a good theory, but it's a fun one. Also remember, truth lies at the edges of convention. Tune in to “Journey to the Fringe” and let your curiosity guide you beyond the veil of accepted history. 🎙️🔍✨ Oh also here is that guy saying to look directly at a solar eclipse: https://t.me/TartariaHistoryChannel/15290 Music credit: Gaming 🎮 lofi Hip Hop beats (Twitch and streamer friendly) By: MoonSoul source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=217PWQlTYMI&t=242s

Fringey Minis - Labor to the courts

3/6/2024
Today we discuss a very direct attack on labor rights in the US being warred by Amazon, Elon Musk, and Trader Joes. This lawsuit could mean the end to specific regulatory bodies that protect the right to unionize and collectively bargain. Seeing as we talk a lot about the violent strikes that led to these rights we should probably cover this too... you know, before the rights are lost. The few things I couldn't remember are worth following up on SCOTUS heard the Chevron doctrine case in January and we are currently waiting for the results, here is an article on it: Supreme Court Hears Case That Could Overturn Key Chevron Precedent - The New York Times (nytimes.com) I don't think I did a great job describing what it is so read that article for a better idea. The EPA is in charge of environmental protection. David Acosta was Trump's secretary of labor and the guy was not good for labor, here is an article on the subject: Trump’s Labor Secretary Is a Wrecking Ball Aimed at Workers | The New Yorker any how Acosta was also the attorney in Florida who wrote a super sketchy deal with Epstein to avoid all his crimes from coming to light and Acosta had to step down when shit hit the fan. Eugene Scalia replaced him and he was just as shitty and also happened to be the son of a deceased Republican Supreme Court Justice, Here is an article on the subject: Column: Trump has turned the Department of Labor into the Department of Employer Rights - Los Angeles Times (latimes.com) Lastly here's an article on the UAW head Shawn Fain expressing his rich eating views: U.A.W.
