Baylor Football Spring Game 2023 Edition

5/1/2023
Baylor football played their 2023 spring game a couple of Saturdays ago. Dave Aranda switched up the format for this year's version of the game, going with an offense vs defense matchup instead of splitting the roster up into two even teams. In this matchup which featured a unique scoring format, such as 2 points for offensive plays of 20+ yards and 3 points for a defensive 4th down stop, the offense topped the defense by a score of 38-27. Much of the offense's success in the spring game came through the running backs and the tight ends. Those are two areas where the Bears seem to have a lot of depth this year. To hear about which RBs and TEs to keep an eye on in the fall, as well as how the rest of the team looked and how returning quarterback Blake Shapen compared with transfer quarterback Sawyer Robertson, tune in to this episode of the BearsIllustrated Podcast. Baylor Basketball Bounced in Big 12 Quarterfinals by Iowa State

3/10/2023
On Thursday afternoon, Baylor basketball was knocked out of the Big 12 tournament in the quarterfinals by Iowa State, the third time Baylor has fallen to the Cyclones this season, each loss coming in convincing fashion. The Bears have won just one Big 12 tournament since 2017. Jalen Bridges put up a terrific offensive performance, scoring 28 points including seven made three-points. But the rest of the offense couldn't muster much up. And Baylor's defense didn't fare much better, allowing Iowa State to grab 20 offensive rebounds. So what is next for Baylor? Can they still make a deep run in the NCAA tournament, or is the slow finish to the season a bad sign of the Bears' March Madness hopes? What does Baylor need to improve and who are the teams we would and would not like to see in potential second weekend matchups? We discuss those questions and more. Baylor Poised to Make March Madness Run

3/2/2023
As No. 7 Baylor basketball finishes up its regular season, we take a look at how well-positioned they are to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament. Baylor knocked off No. 9 Texas on Saturday and beat Oklahoma State on the road on Monday, both largely without superstar freshman Keyonte George. In George's absence, backup point guard Dale Bonner came through big. We also touch on the Baylor women's basketball team. Specifically, how far do the Lady Bears have to go in the NCAA Tournament to make up for a lackluster, up-and-down regular season, a season where they failed to win the Big 12 regular season title for the first time in 14 years? Baylor Basketball Falls Twice in Kansas

2/24/2023
Here we are Baylor fans, just three games left before the end of the basketball regular season and we enter into March. For Scott Drew and the Bears, they have to be thankful that they are no longer in Kansas, but the road does not get any easier with the Longhorns coming to Waco. On this episode of the Bears Illustrated Podcast, we discuss how we feel about Baylor hoops after two disastrous second halves against both Kansas and Kansas State. We debate to see which one was worse: a 55-point allowance to the Jayhawks or a 44-point allowance to the Wildcats. Baylor Basketball Stands Atop the Big 12!

2/16/2023
Baylor basketball has reeled off 4 straight wins to step into a tie for first place in the Big 12 with Kansas and Texas, with five games remaining on the schedule. The Bears next three games will have massive Big 12 title implications, starting with Saturday's thrilling matchup in Lawrence, as Baylor takes on the No. 5 Kansas Jayhawks with ESPN's College Gameday in town. That will be followed by a game at No. 12 Kansas State to finish the Sunflower 2-step and then a matchup in Waco against No. 6 Texas. Baylor Basketball Picks Up First Conference Win

1/13/2023
Both the Baylor men's and women's basketball teams were in action Wednesday night. The men's team, led by Keyonte George's 32 points, beat West Virginia to pick up their first conference win of the season after an 0-3 start. The women were not as fortunate, falling to Oklahoma State at home. We discuss both of these performances and the look-ahead. But first, of course, we tell you why TCU's 65-7 loss to Georgia was inevitable and why it does NOT take away from TCU's season or the strength of the Big 12 conference. Shehan Jeyarajah was the only CBS Sports analyst to pick TCU to upset Michigan in the College Football Playoff. SicEm365's Kendall Kaut Joins to Talk Baylor Basketball

12/12/2022
As Baylor basketball is in the midst of a 16 day layoff between their last game, a win over #18 Gonzaga and their next one, a matchup in Dallas against the Pac-12's Washington State, the BearsIllustrated Podcast is joined by SicEm365's Kendall Kaut. Kendall has previously written a book titled, "How They Drew It Up: Baylor's Unforgettable 2021 Championship Season," chronicling the Bears' National Championship run a couple years ago. We ask Kendall about Baylor basketball's strengths and weaknesses and his experience attending Baylor's win over Gonzaga in South Dakota (he says he never wants to visit the Mount Rushmore state again). And of course, we ask him how this team's top three guards - Adam Flagler, LJ Cryer, and Keyonte George - compare with the 2021 championship trifecta of Jared Butler, Davion Mitchell, and MaCio Teague. Someone thinks #10 Kansas State should be considered for the CFP

11/30/2022
Baylor football finished their season with a loss at Texas on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The Bears hung in there for three and a half quarters, but Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson quite literally ran away with the game for the Longhorns from there. Much drama exists around college football as well, with the penultimate college football playoff rankings coming out on Tuesday evening. One of us has the crazy idea if Kansas State were to dominate undefeated #3 TCU in the Big 12 championship game, K-State should be given consideration for the CFP. What in the world is the reasoning behind that? Listen in to find out! Baylor football sits at 6-3 with a 4-2 conference record heading into this weekend's matchup against Kansas State. It's a game between two teams (K-State also sits at 4-2 in the conference) vying for the second Big 12 championship game spot and the right to likely play TCU.
