5/13/2024
EP103: Coach Emmaline - Discovering a healthy balance in life Today I welcome online coach, author of Ripper Recipes and one of the fastest growing advocates of living a healthy, balanced life without feeling deprived, Emmaline Howard. I first discovered Emmaline in one of her highly entertaining, slightly potty mouthed and extremely informative reels sharing a low calorie, high protein recipe for some tasty looking pasta. From there I have been following her insights, advice and ideas related to living a healthy life. Emmaline has been through the journey herself experiencing emotional eating, binging and a feeling of not having control over her relationship with food. Her decision to make changes and transform her life has sparked an amazing new direction for her, not only becoming much healthier and enjoying life more, but helping so many others to do the same through coaching. Listen as we talk about the importance of finding a way of eating and exercising that fits your schedule, realising that there is no "one size fits all" approach and how in fact trying to follow in this way only leads to a negative outcome. Emmaline shares her advice for anyone wanting to make changes from both a physical and mental standpoint, highlighting the importance of not depriving yourself and needing to be realistic about finding a balanced lifestyle. If you don't already follow Emmaline on Instagram, be sure to do it now >> @coachemmaline Her amazing recipe E-Book, Ripper recipes is full of high protein, low calorie meals that allow you to feel like you're eating in a "normal" way...Pasta, wraps, burgers.... Change, Accept or both - Coaching Special Part 1 - Change

4/8/2024
EP98 - Change, Accept or both - Part 1/3 Each month I like to record an episode that offers some insight from a coaching perspective to help people with the mindset approach to weight loss. This episode is part 1 of 3, exploring the sometimes uncomfortable truth that to lose weight successfully, change is needed. This episode is also somewhat of a tribute to a friend I lost recently. George Gilbey was known by many in the UK for appearing on Gogglebox with his mum and stepdad Linda and Pete, as well as reaching the final of Celebrity Big Brother. To me, he was a school mate who during my teens and early adulthood was a massive part of my life. His recent passing has stirred up a number of emotions for me including the harsh truth that our time on this earth is limited. Today, I want to challenge you to be courageous at looking why you haven't been successful in past attempts to lose weight or become healthier, and use those experiences as lessons to help you achieve your goals in the future. I realise weight loss can be hard with so many unhelpful habits likely to be engrained into your daily routine, and I hope this episode provokes some thinking to what is possible if you are willing to become comfortable with the uncomfortable journey of change. The best part about this journey is that you are NOT ALONE. As I explain in the episode, I would like to offer each of you a completely free opportunity for us to have a chat in which I will listen to where you struggle and offer my ideas and suggestions to begin on the right path to success. For some of you, my 12 week coaching program may be the perfect next step, for others no. Either way, I will do my absolute best to support you and help get you started during your free coaching call. To get more details, simply send an email to carl@weightlosswarriorpodcast.com or DM me on my instagram @weightlosswarriorpodcast Rest easy George, your friendship over the years and has given me a lifetime of laughs and great memories. Managing mindset during a weight loss journey

1/29/2024
EP89: Managing mindset during a weight loss journey I am joined today by a very special guest who not only lives in my home town of Braintree, but is the consultant who has helped my mum on her weight loss journey; Matt Hughes. You may remember a few episodes ago that my mum shared her journey on the WLW podcast, and a lot of her success is attributed to the Slimming World Group she is part of. Matt is the consultant running her group and has a story of his own to share. During today's show, Matt talks openly about his struggles with being overweight and some of the tragic circumstances he faced that made his journey so difficult. We talk about how grief, stress and overwhelming emotions can contribute to the pressure of trying to lose weight. Matt also shares how he would seek comfort in eating to dull the pain he was experiencing during particularly hard moments. As a consultant, Matt shares an interesting perspective of how it can be extremely hard to balance the physical side of weight loss with the much needed mindset work in order to achieve long term success and feel genuinely happy. It can provide a great pillar of support and encouragement, as well as create a certain level of competitiveness as James shares today. Leanne joined Slimming World after years of feeling unhappy with her weight and not placing herself as a priority. We talk about how becoming a parent can often mean you place yourself lower down on the list of importance and that with time you almost fail to recognise yourself as the person you once were. The success and achievement that Leanne began to experience encouraged James to take action too. He shares how making small changes to his day to day lifestyle provided dramatic results. My mum's journey of weight loss - Christmas Special

12/21/2023
EP84 - My mum's journey of weight loss - Christmas Special Since starting the podcast there has been one very special person I have wanted to have as a guest on the show. It's the same person who inspired the Weight Loss Warrior podcast and someone extremely important to me. Today I am proud and excited to introduce Pat Radley, my mum. The timing couldn't be any better. Last night I received a message to say that final 1 pound had gone and my mum was officially at target. After years of ups and downs, my mum has finally reached her goal and I couldn't be happier for her. For my mum, her challenges with her weight started after I was born. As a teenager and young adult she had been very active working in a hair salon and maintaining a slim figure, however after finding herself at home with a newborn baby, things became difficult. We talk about how having 3 children 4 years apart each time made weight loss a struggle, and how secret eating, lack of exercise and mental health played a part in my mums battle to keep her weight under control. She tried many diets over the years, some of which were successful in the short term but unsustainable so eventually failed when a more normal approach to eating resumed. We talk about how important being educated about nutrition is and that when you feel low and unable to reach your goal, it just feels easier seeking comfort being sat with a biscuit tin in front of the tele than facing the reality of what is making you unhappy. I had previously shared that it was my mum's admittence of feeling lonely between group weigh in sessions that inspired me to look for a way to help others get support on their journey and led to me creating the WLW Podcast. I felt a deep sense of pride being able to share the result of this with her and have the opportunity to celebrate her success and dedication to her own transformation. This episode has a lot of meaning attached to it for me, and I hope you enjoy it too. Thanks to my mum for allowing me to record and share this. Unfortunately she doesn't have Instagram yet so I can't tell you to follow her - but I'm sure she will be back on the show in the very near future to share how things are going.
