One of the biggest MMA cards of the year is upon us, UFC 280, with both the vacant lightweight title on the line with (technical) former champion Charles Oliveira set to offer Islam Makhachev his biggest career fight to date while defending bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling puts his title on the line against former champ TJ Dillashaw. On this week's All Things MMA with Ken McGuire and pro fighter Myles Price we'll have a look at the top three fights on the main card and what comes next with reports that featherweight king Alexander Volkanovski will be next in line for the new lightweight champion while the winner of Sean O'Malley and Petr Yan looks set to face whoever leaves Abu Dhabi with the bantamweight strap. There's also talk of the next or final steps for Tony Ferguson while we've been reviewing footage of power slapping in the wake of news that a 'power slap league' could be heading to the UFC Apex.

This week we're finding out how belt grading works in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and how it differs for children, teens and adults and how external factors could impact your progress.

It's been another whirlwind weekend in the world of mixed martial arts, particularly for the UFC. After the drama of Friday's cancelled press conference and a botched weigh-in for Khamzat Chimaev, the upper end of the card was entirely rearranged, scuppering last week's conversations and predictions. But that's the fight game, as they say. >We wound up with a complete technical mismatch in the co-main event as Khamzat Chimaev took on Kevin Holland in a catch-weight bout despite a near 10lbs difference on weigh-in day, while the main event landed Nate Diaz a $50,000 bonus for his showing against Tony Ferguson, both fighters originally slated to face different opponents. All Things MMA returns for a limited run for the Autumn, beginning with a look at how the amateur fight scene is developing for Team Ryano Kilkenny and we get a look at two of the key events for UFC 279 on Saturday 10 September.

We've said it before, but what a way to make your PFL debut. Lightweight fighter and Team Ryano Kilkenny head coach Myles Price (11-7) is heading to Texas next month to make his PFL (Professional Fighters League) debut where he's set to face former UFC lightweight champion Anthony 'Showtime' Pettis. It's been three years since we've seen Price in competitive action, then taking a win in the co-main event of Bellator 217 in Dublin's 3Arena against fellow Irishman Peter Queally. While Queally (ranked #5 Bellator lightweight) this week has been announced to face Benson Henderson (#3 Bellator lightweight) in September, Price is slated for a showdown with Anthony Pettis on 20 April in the co-main event of PFL's ESPN card. At Bellator 270, it wasn't to be for either James Gallagher or Peter Queally while it was business as usual in the upper echelons of the UFC where Kamaru Usman and Rose Namajunas retained their world titles. We were, however, treated to a fight-of-the-year contender with Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler's clash at 155.

When the new year comes around, Myles Price is looking at almost three of them out of the cage. Having finished out his contract with Bellator and seeing one fight emerge under the deal (v Peter Queally at Bellator 217), Myles has inked a deal to fight under the PFL banner stateside in 2022. We'll discuss how that came about and take a look ahead to the big fights as part of Bellator 270 - James Gallagher v Patchy Mix and Petear Queally v Patricky Pitbull.

If you've ever been curious about the place of nutrition in combat sports, wonder no more. This week's All Things MMA sees Kilian Doyle of KD Athletic Performance join the conversation. A graduate of IT Carlow's strength and conditioning programme, Kilian's been working as a performance nutritionist with elite athletes in combat sports and other fields for a number of years both in Ireland and overseas. As it happens, he's also been working with co-host Myles Price on his fight camp nutrition and overall strength and condition to see him through his training and preparation, including his appearances in recent years for Brave CF and Bellator. Over the course of a half-hour you'll hear about It's the first in a series of chats on the topic and we'll be looking forward to catching up with Kilian again in a few weeks.
