Joe Vaclavik visits with Chris in this week's market outlook. Joe and Chris discuss current crop conditions and the potential for a large crop assuming good summer weather. They go on to discuss the upcoming USDA report on Wednesday along with the upcoming June 28th planted acres report. Joe and Chris continue the discussion around a number of barish factors for the market as we head into the next couple of months. Jim McCormick with AgMarket.Net visits with Chris in this week's market outlook. In this week’s discussion Jim and Chris talk about the slow planting pace and the possibility that there could be as many as 9 million acres yet to be planted. However, we’ve seen a significant price decline from the May highs, so there are other factors the market may be considering as we move forward from the planting issues. Jim goes on to hit on a number of Market fundamentals, including Fund positioning, geopolitical issues, zero Chinese demand - to date, and the soon to come crop ratings that could give us some market strength; depending on what crop condition ratings show in the weeks ahead. Jim also points out some observation from the commercials which indicate that farmers are still likely holding as much as 25% -30% of their old crop corn, and as much as 10 to 15% of soybeans. New crop sales also lag with commercial perspective that farmers are only 9% sold on corn and 7% sold on soybeans. Finally, Jim points out the importance of getting your offers in place as many times the market will give you an opportunity, but it’s often short-lived and in the night trade.

Jarod Creed visits with Chris in this week’s market outlook. Planting conditions are still a struggle in many areas. However, there are other drivers in the market currently that could be giving us current price strength. The wheat market is one of the key factors that Jerod points out. Plus, there may be some technical that could provide some pricing opportunities. Jerod goes on to explain a number of scenarios that we may see as we head through the growing season. Jared also talks through some strategies to consider as you work toward pricing the 2024 crop and possibly even 2025 crop.

Ryan Moe talks with Chris in this week's Market Outlook. They discuss the delayed planting and the possible price increase that it still may bring in the market. However, prices will likely be limited as farmer sales seem to provide a wet blanket over any price increases. If we do see some price strength due to slower planting pace, producers may want to consider getting their offers in to take advantage of what might be a short-term pricing opportunity.

Mark Welch, Texas A&M, Extension Marketing Specialist, visits with Chris in this week’s market Outlook. Planted acres will still be the big question this year as the market observes planting progress over the next several weeks. Mark explains some historical numbers on “total acres” along with some of the decisions that producers are making as we work through this planting season across the US. Mark and Chris address some of the challenges with Marketing the 2023 crop. Managing basis will be critical, especially as we get further into the growing season and closer to the 2024 crop. Mark and Chris discuss some of the tactics that producers may want to consider as they begin to price 2024 crop. Producers may be in a position that requires recalibrating our expectations too much lower price levels. Taking advantage of small rallies that don’t last long, might be the key to successful marketing this year.

Troy Deutmeyer area Agronomist with Pioneer visits with Chris in this spring agronomy update. They start the conversation discussing the keys to effective tillage. One of the keys areas Troy talks about is the importance of running the tillage tool in the same direction as the planter. He goes on to talk about several other factors around planting into strip till. They go onto discuss the importance of planter settings. Managing the row, cleaners, seeding depth, spacing, variable rate, seeding, and soil conditions. They continue discussing crop protection and managing your sprayer passes. They wrap up the conversation discussing importance of managing your ROI as you make decisions on certain products for your crop.

Duane Lowry is visiting Chris in this week's Market Outlook. Chris quizzes Duane on some of the key fundamentals to watch, as we head into spring planting season. Duane acknowledges the burdensome supply of grain, which is one of the key factors pressuring the market. However, he explains several opportunities that could give us a short window of pricing opportunity. The upside price opportunities are likely limited. However, Duane sees the importance of having targets in play and being willing to get some level of new crop priced during these opportunities, especially during the planting season. They go on to discuss energy prices, summer weather, possible acreage shifts, geopolitical possibilities, and Fund positioning as we continue through the year.

Shay and Chris introduce Andy Hruby and Joe Paulson. Andy and Joe now take on the role as the newest team members with Ag View Solutions. Both Andy and Joe introduce themselves. They both explain their farming operations and how they got started working with Ag View Solutions. Andy and Joe will play an intricate role with the team. They will be working with individual farm operations on collaboration, transition, succession planning, profit manager, and peer group facilitation. Finally, in the discussion, Shay announces that he will away on a military deployment. Shay is part of the Illinois National Guard and will be away for an indefinite period of time. However, once Shay is back, he will pick up his role where he left off. In the meantime: Chris, Andy, and Joe will back Shay up while he is away.
