E.104 Mental Health and Finding Your Safe Space with Julius Cowdrey

4/30/2024
This week in my kitchen, I'm joined by Julius Cowdrey for a conversation on mental health, addressing the growing issue of loneliness, and finding our safe space, whether it's through coaching or community support. Julius, known for his stint on Made In Chelsea, delves into his personal journey, from his involvement in music and television to his current partnership with his twin brother in creating a platform that aids individuals seeking self-improvement but lacking the means for one-on-one coaching or specialised assistance. We all encounter moments of self-doubt, insecurity, and adversity, but it's our resilience and strategies for overcoming them that truly shape our character. Julius opens up about his own challenges and the tools he's acquired to navigate through them. While mental health awareness has gained significant traction, the prevalence of loneliness continues to rise. Despite our interconnectedness through social media, there's a profound sense of disconnection. Julius and I delve into these dynamics and explore various related topics in depth. E.103 Mastering Marketing and Designing Your Dream Lifestyle with Georgia Aldridge

4/23/2024
In my kitchen this week I am joined by Georgia Aldridge the Co-Founder of Sloane House Marketing which is a dynamic social media agency helping you grow your brand. As well as the agency Georgia has now opened up a studio where brands can use Georgia and her team to create their content as well as help with the strategy around sharing it. In this episode Georgia shares her journey to founding Sloane House from barely making it through school to hopping from job to job with no real direction, to then finding her niche and doubling down on it. Given the universal goal of online growth, I delve into key marketing enquiries with Georgia that are likely on the minds of many seeking to expand their presence online. As this podcast primarily focuses on food, health, and wellness, I enquire about Georgia's interpretation of wellness. Her response diverges from the conventional, emphasising the pursuit of activities that bring her a sense of well-being and happiness, such as travel and freedom. This episode delves into the concept of lifestyle design, highlighting the possibility of achieving one's desired lifestyle but acknowledging that it often entails making sacrifices along the journey. Considering that we dedicate a significant portion of our lives to work, it begs the question: why invest time in something that doesn't bring happiness? E.102 What Is An Ancestral Lifestyle with Hunter and Gather Founders Jeff and Amy

4/16/2024
In my kitchen this week I am joined by the Co-Founders of Hunter and Gather Jeff and Amy. Together, we delve into the fascinating journey behind their rapidly expanding brand and explore the principles of the ancestral lifestyle. Hunter and Gather is a company dedicated to real foods, initially gaining traction with their avocado oil-based mayonnaise containing only five wholesome ingredients. Since then, they've expanded their offerings to include a range of condiments, dressings, sauces, and supplements. Their core belief is that the key to guiding individuals towards optimal health and well-being lies in providing them with access to quality products. The inception of Hunter and Gather stemmed from Jeff and Amy's personal food struggles. When seeking clean condiments to enhance their meals, they discovered a gap in the market. This realisation fuelled their mission to create products that align with their ethos of clean, natural ingredients. At the heart of their brand philosophy lies the concept of the Ancestral Lifestyle—a return to basics, prioritising nature over the industrialised processes prevalent in modern society. In this episode, Jeff and Amy delve deeper into the principles of the ancestral diet, shedding light on how the proliferation of processed foods is contributing to widespread health issues and chronic illnesses. E.99 "70% Of Your Immune System Is In Your Gut" - Jon Walsh Co-Founder of Bio&Me

3/26/2024
This week in the kitchen I am joined by Co-Founder of Bio&Me Jon Walsh. Bio&Me is dedicated to promoting gut health and believes in the importance of dietary diversity. From granolas to porridge pots, their goal is to incorporate a wide variety of plants into every product. Founded by Jon Walsh and Dr. Megan Rossi, Bio&Me boasts a formidable team. With Jon's extensive experience in the food industry, having worked with renowned brands like Nestle, Procter and Gamble, and John West, coupled with Dr. Megan's background in science and nutrition, they possess the ideal skillset to revolutionize the market and raise awareness about the significance of gut health. Recently, there has been increasing attention on gut health, which is fantastic considering its crucial role in overall well-being. Some even liken the gut to a "second brain" due to its influence on various aspects of our functioning and emotions. However, Bio&Me has been advocating for this long before it became a trend. Therefore, I wanted to speak with Jon about the journey of Bio&Me, its origins, and whether the heightened awareness of gut health is positively or negatively impacting the industry. What's particularly refreshing about Jon's perspective is that he doesn't come from a scientific or nutritional background. Instead, he discusses gut health in straightforward terms, avoiding complex health terminology that can often be confusing and overwhelming. This episode is a fantastic way of understanding ways in which you can support your gut health as well as understanding why it is important that we all do so. The topics we covered were... This week I am joined in my kitchen by Melissa Tattam for another conversation about all things food health and wellness and what Melissa does at home to live a healthy life and feel the best version of her. If you don't know Melissa she is the co-host of the podcast Wednesdays which she hosts with her best friend Sophie Habboo and every week they go through girlie dilemma's that get sent in. She is also known for her time on the reality TV show Made In Chelsea. Melissa's ethos is that she wants to do everything she can at home to be non-toxic, nutritious and clean to then be able to enjoy herself guilt-free when she goes out. In this episode as well as discussing a healthy diet and lifestyle, we also touch on balance and what that looks like for Melissa. I think it is very easy to only hear about what we shouldn't do and what we need to remove from our diets to be healthier but I think balance is also important and treating yourself to what you love is all about living the life you enjoy! Melissa's knowledge comes from a place of passion and curiosity, she is not a nutritionist or a professional in this field but instead, she is eager to learn and also be proven wrong. E.97 Lockdowns Biggest Success Story; Let's Chat With Natasha Thomas Co-Founder of Lockdown Liquor

3/12/2024
This week in my kitchen I am joined by Natasha Thomas Co-Founder of Lockdown Liquor the premium bottled cocktail company based in London which completely took our Lockdowns by storm. Natasha and her husband Jack came up with the initiative whilst sat at home during Lockdown that they could create bottled cocktails that all you needed to do was shake and pour to have a delicious drink, with all the proceeds going to the NHS. With virtual socialising on the rise and many tired of squeezing endless limes for homemade margaritas, their bottles quickly became sought-after, signalling to Tash and Jack that they were onto something special. Lockdown Liquor then made the transition from business-to-consumer (B2C) to business-to-business (B2B), shifting its focus from helping consumers enjoy their Friday nights at home to assisting the hospitality industry in providing premium cocktails during busy evenings, particularly when short-staffed. This pivot significantly altered the landscape. Lockdown Liquor values itself on using premium ingredients to ensure a premium experience so whether you are on a plane, train, bar or at home, you should never have a bad cocktail again. In this episode, I delve into Tash's journey with Lockdown Liquor and the unique experience of launching a business during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, I explore Tash's role as the founder of another venture, Total Management Group, an events management company, discussing how she manages both businesses alongside her responsibilities as a mother. Finally, we explore the strategic decision to prioritize trade over direct-to-consumer sales and the resulting opportunities it has generated. This is an incredible episode about an incredible brand which I think you are going to love The topics that were discussed: Sponsors: PARLA - Order your sustainable oral care - Here GEORGIASYMONDS for 10% off your order HUEL - click here to top up on your HUEL Georgia’s Instagram - click here! Upon returning home, Leah realised that no other British Asian Woman had swam the channel and this therefore motivated her decision to take it on as her next challenge. Leah's endeavour wasn't without its challenges, as she tirelessly raised £105,000 to support her cause. E.91 Discipline, Community and The Pressure To Look A Certain Way Online with Milo McCloud

1/30/2024
This week in my kitchen, we're joined by Milo McCloud, a fitness content creator and the Founder of Revive, a community centred around Hyrox. In this episode, I aimed to delve into the fundamentals with Milo, discussing his journey from school to university, his venture into entrepreneurship, and his evolution into a full-time content creator. Milo recounts his diverse experiences, from harbouring dreams of becoming a professional skier to ultimately dropping out of Exeter University, where he was pursuing sports science, in favour of heading to London and starting his career. But it is the lessons that you learn throughout all these experiences that prepare you for where you are today. Throughout this episode, Milo shares insights into his physical transformation, from the initial desire to change his appearance to accomplish the remarkable feat of participating in both a bodybuilding competition and a marathon on the same day...insane I know. But, such achievements come with a price—the pressure individuals impose on themselves or that society, particularly through social media, exerts to conform to certain standards of appearance and performance, potentially causing harm. This was an amazing episode where Milo reveals the truths behind working in the fitness industry. But also it underscores the power of cultivating small habits and maintaining discipline, illustrating that one can attain anything with a determined mindset. E.89 We Don't Talk About Sexual Health Enough With Alex Griffiths Co-Founder of Roam

1/16/2024
In my kitchen this week I am joined by Alex Griffiths Co-Founder of Roam a revolutionary sexual health brand that introduces innovation, sustainability, and confidence to the sexual wellness industry. I was so excited to have this conversation with Alex as I when thinking of topics I wanted to discuss on the podcast this year I realised that no one ever talks about sexual health enough when it is actually intrinsically linked to health and wellness. Both Alex and his co-founder Ben grew weary of the industry's monotonous dominance by a single brand, Durex. Recognising the absence of a contemporary sexual health brand attuned to people's wants, needs, and desires in the market, they made the decision to fill that void. Roam is boldly challenging the sexual health landscape by introducing genuine innovation to the market, which is truly exhilarating to witness! In this episode Alex and I discuss the taboo topic of sex and sexual health whilst trying to work out why people don't talk about it, why people feel uncomfortable and why people don't see it as part of their own health and wellness.
