Then, they dive in on the culture of the programs and why it's so important to have a defined identity at Iowa State. Anecdotes from a lifetime around WBB and Eric's year on the men's side bring some perspective to a conversation that could go on for hours. Episode 2.12- What is a Team of Destiny?

11/21/2022
Football is what it is.... But could that mean they're destined to ruin fairytale seasons for their conference mates? If so, this could be another for the books... Both Cyclone men's and women's basketball teams head to Oregon this week to represent the school in a premier event, the Phil Knight Invitational. Each have a lot on the line, including... -Opportunities for marquee wins for the women looking to strengthen their resume while already considered a top team in the country -A chance to see Denae Fritz and Stephanie Soares against elite talent, as well as how the rest of the team adjusts around them -Can Caleb Grill continue his road shooting heater from last year... And maybe bring some home with him? -How do the men fare against power 5 opponents? Fortunately, we can watch for ourselves at home, as all games are slated for ESPN network channels. Looking elsewhere in the athletic department, swimming and diving pull off an upset and leave a host of shattered records in their wake from the Kansas meet. Volleyball finishes out their regular season at home Wednesday. Can they right the ship after a 2-game skid and stick at fourth in the league? Wrestling continues to get it done, ending the longest dual win streak of any division in the country. Vote for the HoopHall awards at hoophallawards.com daily for your Cyclones! QUICK! Episode 2.11- Actual Basketball Content (etc.)

11/14/2022
The football season is winding down and all Jamie and Eric feel is deja vu. Meanwhile, men's basketball has shown glimpses of this year's potential identity. Lockdown defense? Still present. Improved offense? Seems likely. New players? Lots of upside, including some unexpected facets that can really boost the Cyclones. One the women's side, the returners show marked improvement, but keying in on the newcomers... Denae Fritz and Stephanie Soares are "un-Iowa State-like" players by Jamie's standards... Hear why that's a GOOD thing! Volleyball sticks at third in the conference, can the finish strong with three games left? Big news for wrestling as they continue to win in dominating fashion and add an exciting option for fans looking to follow matches from home or on the run. Episode 2.07- Bring on the Tractor

10/3/2022
It's a rough year to play in the Big 12, and rougher yet if you've got deficiencies to shore up. Jamie and Eric chatted a bit about the injuries plaguing ISU, how wrong they were about the type of game we'd see against Kansas, and how to deal with the stress of Cyclone fandom. Some positives! Breece Hall's game-winning TD (in true Cyclone style) and volleyball upsets #13 Baylor. Could that win be a key to a burgeoning revenge plot between football and volleyball?! Looking ahead to Farmageddon, Jamie is still mostly concerned by the lack of a trophy and Eric is worried for ISU's run game. For next weekend, head to the Ten 12 Podcast or fire up an interview from season 1- the CFP is on break while Jamie finally has her honeymoon! Episode 2.06- No More Gimme Games

9/26/2022
The Steyer siblings finally got to watch a game live together... Sadly, the good luck wasn't there. Iowa State dropped their first Big 12 game to preseason #1 Baylor. What's that mean going forward? Well, the sky isn't falling. A few players stepped up, a few need to be more present, and it'd be really great to get one for more than a single play... For conference game 2, Iowa State fans find themselves needing to recalibrate their expectations to account for a Kansas team suddenly showing they know what sport they're playing! 9/12/2022
Jamie Steyer Johnson and Eric Steyer are here to tell you that if a game's gonna be that ugly, a win at least makes it worth the pain. They share relief and excitement about the Cyclones' long-awaited victory over the Hawks in football and the dominating start to the CyHawk series as volleyball and soccer join the party. A quick digression regarding the craziness that was week 2 of college football makes Jamie contemplate what would warrant jumping in Lake Laverne in celebration (a la App State's duck pond).
