The initial massacre by Hamas on Israel on October 7th, 2023 resulted in yet another Israel-Palestine war. The war has resulted in over 23,000 deaths, and a multitude of humanitarian crises. It has sparked a strong, passionate, yet divisive international response. In America, hundreds of protests and demonstrations took place. On college campuses specifically, intense reactions resulted in tense consequences. How has the war affected the Chapman student body specifically? Or its Jewish and Arab communities? Mid-September, migrants originally arriving in Texas and Florida started showing up unexpectedly in northern cities like Washington D.C., Chicago and New York City. They were bussed or flown to these locations by taxpayer funded transportation programs from Texas and Florida as a part of a political stunt protesting immigration laws. The response from locals has been generally positive so far: people are provided food, donating winter clothing and giving legal assistance.
