Just a Thought // Have you ever asked a 'stupid question'?

3/3/2024
To start this segment off, we dive into one of the most loaded terms of all time - ‘stupid questions’. What the heck is a stupid question anyway and have we asked them before? Join me and Steve as we ponder on our experiences with ‘stupid questions’ - and what our feelings towards that term are! Thanks Steve for bringing this question up - had a lot of fun recording this reflection together! —- Archemist Podcast is an extension of my blog “Archemist in the Making” - a millennial’s inquisition on architecture’s relationship with anything and everything. Hero Phenomena Ep. 8 // Painted A Landscape That Led To Architecture

9/25/2022
In this second part of the two part series - I now interview my colleague Steve on his experience in the detours taken to get into architecture. Evidently - when the first plan doesn’t work, there will always be alternatives waiting for you around the corner. Who knows! Sometimes they bring you surprises that you least expect it or even some of the greatest lessons to be carried forth! Come sit with us as we flip through the emotions and expectations faced when discussing switching courses.! *This will be a two-part series featuring two different guests - Elliott, who has transitioned out of architecture school into building design and Steve - who transitioned into architecture from fine arts and landscape design (I need to confirm this). These moves are never easy, but they are important conversations that we don’t often discuss or applaud. —- Archemist Podcast is an extension of my blog “Archemist in the Making” - a millennial’s inquisition on architecture’s relationship with anything and everything. Hero Phenomena Ep. 7 // From Plan A(rchitecture) to B(uilding Design)

9/4/2022
Media often talks and celebrates those who have transitioned into architecture, but rarely transitioned out of architecture. I suppose it's quite a daunting move - and one that we don't talk about often. Thankfully, Elliott is here to share his thoughts on his experience of his transition from Architecture to Building Design. What was it like? Were there any pressures? Come and sit with us as we laugh through some ups and downs and debate on which one is better for those who are torn between the two! *This will be a two-part series featuring two different guests - Elliott, who has transitioned out of architecture school into building design and Steve - who transitioned into architecture from fine arts and landscape design (I need to confirm this). Hero Phenomena Ep. 5 // Can You Be Personal With Architecture?

1/24/2022
*Words by Jingwen (Jina) He This episode will be an expansion of a question when Jina was once asked “when you review your designs yourself, you need to feel that you wanna live in your design. Have you ever felt that?”. Honestly - there are many many ways to unpack this question given the archetypes that are involved in, and both of us have approached this question from different perspectives. Having said, what were our approaches and responses? Hero Phenomena Ep. 2 // Job Hunting Is Really Hard

10/19/2021
Disclaimer: This episode may be emotionally taxing and toiling - as we know that sometimes talking about job hunting is extremely difficult for some. There’s always a mixture of relief and dread during our studies about the next stages - getting hired by a firm. For some, it was relatively straightforward in meeting those expectations. However, for me and Shaun, we graduated during the period in which our industry suffered economically, which resulted in us spending nearly two years (or more) finding ‘employment’ within the architecture industry. Of course, keeping our hopes up wasn't easy - and when plan a didn’t work out for us, what were our plan b’s or c’s? And of course, during our lowest moments, did we consider giving up altogether? Notes: Below are websites I’ve used as well as being introduced to during job hunting for an architecture-related job. Hero Phenomena Ep. 1 // Are We Passionate Enough?

10/8/2021
Starting Season 4 of the podcast, we’re looking at what it means to be passionate about something. Too often, the word is flounced around a lot - and it’s difficult to affirm whether you are passionate about something by your actions. You can be passionate about a subject and admire it from afar, otherwise allow yourself to be consumed by it… In this episode, Eastina and I will be exploring our perceptions on what it takes to be passionate about something… and whether we think we’re passionate about what we’re doing now. To our first year - thank you for leaving us a beautiful memory… A year later and here we are again. Dini and I are back looking at our architecture journey in 2020 as well as reflecting back to our very first recording. Of course, second-year of architecture school makes you realise a lot of things, but then, when we take our time to look back on our past, we realise how far we’ve come.
