Greg Churchill

9/23/2023
I’m really excited to bring this months episode to you as the guest is arguably one of the most profound, longest standing DJ’s that NZ has to offer. He is the true deep history of New Zealand's House music scene right across the country and his nickname “the godfather of house” says a lot about his passion and dedication to the electronic music scene in NZ. Greg truly is one of the most down to earth, humble and insightful guests i’ve ever had the pleasure to chat with on the podcast. I hope you the listener can take as much out of this chat as I did, and I hope that for those who haven’t seen Greg play live before, you manage to get the chance to see him as it’s truly a fantastic experience. Josh Butler

7/19/2023
Episode number 17 of the High Frequency Podcast is a real special one. When I started this podcast just over a year ago, I definitely didn't expect to be introducing someone like Josh Butler. But as it happens, he has some deep roots in New Zealand. As it also happens, both him and I grew up very close to each other and partied in some of the same clubs as we grew up. He’s usually in NZ yearly and now is part owner and founder of up and coming electronic music festival “This kinda Day” in Queenstown. He had some unexpected success back in 2013 with the track “Got a feeling”, and it led to him scooping multiple industry awards from Beatport and DJ Mag. Since then he’s been labeled as one of the UK’S most premier house music talents by none other than Pete Tong himself, and consistently championed by the likes of Steve Lawler and Heidi. He’s released on labels such as Knee deep in sound, CR2 Recordings, Hot Creations, and Defected, including some remixes for huge names like Carl Cox and collaborations with the legend himself Kerri Chandler. It’s safe to say that Josh is a staple worldwide name in the house music scene, and he’s working away at trying to grow the scene here in New Zealand much like myself. I hope you enjoy listening to the podcast as much as I enjoyed creating it. Sarah Bronte started her journey as a DJ and music producer in 2004 while residing in the UK. After returning to New Zealand in 2008 she resumed her DJing career. Kerry Wallace - S.A.S.H

5/22/2023
The driving force behind Australia’s largest and most highly regarded underground house music event – S.A.S.H, 2 decades of experience have brought Kerry to the highest echelons of Djing and promoting. Internationally, having completed his second European tour trotting spots like; fabric, Kater Blau, Renate, CocoBeach, Cafe del Mar, OFF Week and Sisyphus as well as a second visit to Universo Paralello Festival in South America the musical shores have expanded much further than his own backyard. Locally, gracing the stages of every festival, venue and party worth its salt across Australia, his chunky, deep and melodic tech house sound has seen him play alongside some of the world’s most recognisable artists. From Rainbow Serpent and Subsonic Music Festival and right across to venues and events down every back alley and time in Sydney and Melbourne. Hosting and playing shoulder to shoulder (or should this be shoulder to stomache?) the likes of Alexkid, to Dana Ruh and Sonja Moonear, Mihai Popoviciou, Sascha Dive, Andrey Pushkarev and Enzo Siragusa on a weekly basis at S.A.S.H. His sound is immediately audible leaving revellers consistently moving irrelevant of the slot. S.A.S.H as an event in its over half a decade has become an internationally recognised event synonymous with a quality soundtrack and an Australian staple. It has taken over two of Sydney’s house institutions, the open air courtyard of The Greenwood Hotel by day and the infamous monster that is HOME Nightclub overlooking the harbour by night. On a weekly basis it gives some two thousand odd party revellers another reason to dislike Monday and up to 4,000 on long weekends spread over 24 hours between the two venues – all the way to midday Monday. Over this period, S.A.S.H has hosted a guest list which speaks for itself; Dixon, Ryan Elliot Axel Boman, Marco Resmann, Bill Patrick, dOP, Heidi, Ian Pooley, Nico Stojan, Terry Francis, Super Flu, Einmusik, Seb Zito, S.A.M among a toilet paper roll length of others all alongside Australia’s most decorated talents. Up on the 12th episode of the High Frequency podcast is Tina Mairi. In a few short years Tina Mairi has progressed from her personal project of mixing two songs every day for 100 days in a row to emerge as a passionate and highly regarded wahine of Auckland underground house and techno. Versatile, intuitive and a keen dancer herself, Tina applies her affinity for harmony and rhythm to each individual dance floor with the intention of transmitting a pure, joyful and transformative experience. In the episode we chat about preparation for gigs, dealing with pre-show nerves and the current lack of turnout at high profile events across NZ. Tina's favourite track in the mix she did for the podcast is by Baaz and is titled; 'Glim'. It comes in at 28min (the podcast also opens with another Baaz track 555.11). Arokx

10/19/2022
AROKX is a pure product of the NZ scene. Proving that if electronic music is meant for you it will find you. While his childhood friends were listening to gangsta rap/hip hop the sounds of deep melodic Techno were calling from the subterranean of Auckland. A spiritual calling to Shipwrecked festival resulted in a residency on the BOAT stage in 2015. Catching the eyes and ears of international promoters with his raw talent a jaunt to Melbourne was called for, Supporting HNQO / Hot Creations. After laying down a truly good closing set, Arokx was launched around the circuit in Melbourne performing @ hotspots such as Circus Sundays, Killing Time, Revolver, Rainbow Serpent Festival, Pelican Villa, Rubix Warehouse, 3Fold Radio KISSFM and the very first few Breakfast Club events to name a few. Getting booked for many other festivals & bush doofs, playing alongside his favourite producers and ending up getting on it with Kevin Spacey as well as staying at Ned Kelly's family home in Talbot...This honestly was a lot to handle for lil Arokx from Maraetai Beach. Advice from friends about Melbournes vortex and traps around the circuit was given but inevitably it got him a good one. Now with his head back on track after going deep within himself in the Northland bush production bunker underneath the stars to come back to his true self, Arokx saw his music production as literally the only way forward. Now a firm fixture on the NZ Scene and releasing his own music on record labels SUN EXPLOSION (Berlin), CULTRUN CULT (Chile/NZ), FAFO RECORDS (SYD). Arokx is somewhat getting started, now showing us his production on stage with his original tracks sitting nicely beside artists such as Antix/ Out of sorts, Maxi Basshead (hoodat), Tom Baker and others. This is one act that will keep you engaged until the very end, giving the audience a whole new world of sound & vibration to be immersed in. https://soundcloud.com/arokx Support the show

DJ B.lo (Paul Berrington) has been on the electronic music scene for well over 20 years now and has probably one of the most extensive vinyl collections in Wellington. He owns the brand Strange Behaviour which is a record label and a party which is mainly hosted in Wellington. Paul states that the label has no genre. It's everything and anything that is experimental and good quality music. He supports local artists on both his radioshow on radio active and on his label. My chat with Paul was great and his mix takes us through a journey of old skool house. So make sure you stick around for it. @strangebehaviourwgtn Support the show
