Doctor Who: We're All Stories in the End

Arts & Culture Podcasts

We're all just stories in the end. It's as true for the Doctor as it is for any of us. If, like me, you’ve grown up reading the Target novelisations, the Virgin New Adventures, the BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures, the New Series Adventures, and a whole heap of standalone fiction, then this is the show for you. I'm joined by some of the most interesting authors, editors and podcasters and each episode is devoted to one of the hundreds of Doctor Who books that have kept the TARDIS in flight when there's no new TV series in our immediate future... It's all over. The presents are already broken, the turkey is on a plate in the fridge, and your hangover is throbbing like a well-tuned Harley. Welcome to Boxing Day. The brilliant Kenny Smith joins me to talk all about the Cybermen, and David Banks, Glasgow, Linsey Dawn McKenzie, Dunoon, Bono, the board-game Mousetrap, The Wizard of Oz, Lady Gaga, and Kenny's podcast The Power of Three, and particularly his episode interviewing the author of this New Adventure from 1993. Too Hot For Hamsters in the End

11/22/2025
A very happy Doctor Who Day to all of you at home. In association with Doctor Who: Too Hot For TV and A Hamster With A Blunt Penknife, (two of the very best in the business) I present a November 23rd Special to celebrate 62 -can you believe that?- 62 years of Doctor Who. The pod-crash continues on Doctor Who: Too Hot For TV and concludes with a motherlovin' chunker of an audio commentary on A Hamster With A Blunt Penknife. Now do us a favour in return? I go on, I work me arse off for you. Cheers. Could you donate two pounds to these guys over here? JF, DR: Love you boys Xx In the Citadel of Dreams, I go walking in my sleep, through the valley of Doubt, to the river so deep... Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

History 101 by Mags L. Halliday

10/31/2025
Happy Hallowe'en! To terrify you all to within an inch of your lives, I'm joined by the nicest man in podcasting, Mr Dan Pinn, Mr. Kevin Jordan our tame book reviewer, and a surprise guest, to discuss that time when The Doctor, Fitz and Anji joined George Orwell to witness the Spanish Civil War. Will it be the winning side who write the history books? The losers? Or... someone else? And for my best work, subscribe to The Flaneur, a new literary and cultural magazine type thing. The Changing Face of Doctor Who: The Infinity Doctors by Lance Parkin

10/6/2025
Flight Through Entirety pin-up Nathan Bottomley joins me to be nine kinds of clever about the BBC Books 35th anniversary novel, 1998's The Infinity Doctors. The dreamy hunk Bottomley is always a joy to speak with and I hope y'all enjoy this little chat. I know today's not special for any of you, but it's special for me. The High Council 6

9/20/2025
Join us for one last episode of The High Council, as Ryan and I battle it out once and for all, to see who is truly the higher. This has grave, but oddly entertaining implications for our chat about Jim Mortimore's unpublished Past Doctors novel Burning Artemis, which crept out into the world in the year 2000 as Campaign. Stay tuned at the end for the VORLD-VIDE PREMIER of the new single "That's Mortimore" by THE VALEYARDBIRDS... Head Games by Steve Lyons

9/1/2025
Shut it, you shabby-looking shit, or I'll gut you with this bookies' pencil-stub. That's got your attention, hasn't it? I spend ages writing these episode descriptions and I'm fairly certain that no bugger reads them. Ah, first world problems... It's another mega-extended director's cut of a chat this month, as I sit down with Alex Wilcock (a self-confessed Virgin New Adventures supergeek) who even owns a t-shirt with all 61 NA covers proudly on display. We're talking about the 1995 New Adventure Head Games, by Steve Lyons, whose previous book in the range, 1994's Conundrum, is held in the highest regard by virtually everyone who's read it. While we discuss the return of Bonnie Langford's ebullient Bush, a genocide on Detrios, and a fight to the death between Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy (always bet on wiry strength, ferocity and speed over size or waistline) we also learn a lot about Alex's life, his wedding, his childhood and, erm, Liz Truss. This is a really fun chat, and that's before we find out where Kev's calling from this time. Enjoy the show, and come and say hi on Bluesky; I'm @theiainmartin.bsky.social email the show at: allstoriespod@icloud.com And for my best work, subscribe to The Flaneur, a new literary and cultural magazine type thing. Or, if you happen to be in the United States of America, join me on alternate Saturday evenings at Saints Row Brewery in Gaithersburg, MD. (A long-shot, of course, but you never know...) The Changing Face of Doctor Who: Scratchman by Tom Baker

7/4/2025
This time we are once again veering off-course and looking at a different Doctor in fiction, this time the fourth Doctor who appears in a tale written by...the fourth Doctor, Tom Baker. I'm joined by the potty-mouthed irreverent scamp Harry from a famous 80's prog band to discuss this bizarre entry into the world of written Who. This is very much NSFW, for which I'm very sorry. It's all Harry's fault. He leads me astray, as you'll hear... Follow us at: BlueskySaint's Row Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
