I'm Just Deaf, Not Invisible.

5/3/2023
Kellina Powell was inspired by a young boy she met while working at a water park to continue her education; she overcame bullying and a guidance counselor who doubted her to pursue her dreams and help others in the Deaf community. She eventually attended York University in Canada and became a Deaf coach, advocate, podcast speaker, best-selling author, and a passionate entrepreneur. Kellina Powell experienced a setback in high school due to her disability, but her guidance counselor Karen at York University supported her. She was inspired by a professor who was also deaf and learned that her disability should not define her. She wrote a book about her experience as a deaf person in the Deaf community, discussing topics such as dating, mental health, relationships, and friendship. She had to be careful with her wording to ensure her audience did not feel attacked. Kellina Powell discussed her experience with mental health and how it has helped her grow as a person. She also discussed her book, "Every Day I'm Just Deaf," which is available on Amazon, and her upcoming speaking engagements and children's book. She encouraged the younger generation not to feel the need to fit in and to take one bad day at a time. She can be found on all social media platforms under the name "DeafQueenBoss," and her website is Kellinapowell.com. www.instagram.com/deafqueenboss www.facebook.com/deafqueenboss https://www.youtube.com https://linktr.ee/KellinaPowell --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christopher-cox40/message
