Be Still and Know

4/23/2024
We’re launching Season 5 of the podcast with a conversation on “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:11). What does it mean to “be still” and enter into prayer with the Lord when life is busy? We discuss common obstacles to prayer (especially as moms) and how we can still have fruitful and intimate prayer lives with the Lord in different seasons of our vocation. Scripture: “Be still and know that I am God.”- Psalm 46:11 “The Lord himself will fight for you, you need only to be still.”- Exodus 14:14 The Calming of the Storm at Sea- Mark 4:35-41 From the Catechism of the Catholic Church: Prayer as God's gift (par. 2559): "Prayer is the raising of one's mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God." But when we pray, do we speak from the height of our pride and will, or "out of the depths" of a humble and contrite heart? He who humbles himself will be exalted; humility is the foundation of prayer. Only when we humbly acknowledge that "we do not know how to pray as we ought" are we ready to receive freely the gift of prayer.
